This is our home away from home!! Beautiful cabin that sits in the woods on 27 acres about 100 yards off a scenic dead end dirt road. Cabin is 8 miles to Woodstock,VT and 5 miles to Barnard,VT. There is a full kitchen and sun porch. Two Queen size beds in the large loft. The driveway brings you right to the cabin where you have complete privacy.
Close to the property is the Appalacian Trail which is 4 miles away. There is hiking up the road further which you can walk to and is unlimited exploring with magnificent views
There are numerous mountain biking trails which we can take you to in person or via map. Kayaking up on Silver Lake 6 miles away.
There is a gravity feed water system and drinking water is provided. Hot water is made with a heat coil in a 5 gallon bucket. Sounds funky but it works well. This is how we bathe in the tub- its very simple. We are installing a shower this spring next to the bath tub-that will run off propane-so we enter the modern world with a hot shower!! You can also bathe in the pool in the stream-refreshing! The Outhouse is 25' away from the cabin - brand new - sits up on a deck with its own building. With it is a clawfoot tub you bathe in and enjoy the quite along with the birds and the stream. Bathing is outside. There is a Vermont Castings Fireplace Stove for heat and atmosphere. There is plenty of wood provided. We also have 2 EdenPure electric heaters that work great!! A barbecue grill is off the Sun Porch. For your enjoyment the is no TV or radio. (We will supply a radio if you wish.) Cell service is minimal but if you walk up the road 200 yards you can get it.
Nearby is the Barnard Inn for dinner as well as the Barnard General Store on Silver Lake for great breakfasts. Numerous restaurants in Woodstock.
Woodstock Farmers’ Market, a full scale farmers market with fresh seafood, local produce - baked goods and more is located on Route 4 in West Woodstock, less than 8 miles away.
The cabin is beautiful, rustic and charming. It is a great writers, artists getaway. Romantic place for couples.
IMPORTANT-Cabin only is seasonal-it rents from May20-Oct.15.
Really ideal for two people. Could have one or two people for additional $20 per night per person. Pets are negotiable. We will have a basic contract stating dates of visit and simple house information for you to sign upon arrival.** Also we do have to charge the VT Rooms and Meals Tax of 9% which we can settle up with you upon your arrival/departure. (The State is getting pretty strict on that.)
Thank you Kevin and Lesley

We had a great time on our honeymoon at Kevin & Lesley's cabin. It was well-equipped, and our hosts couldn't have been more gracious. The cabin was plenty warm, even as the evenings were getting chillier. Great surrounding town, and tons to do within a short drive. We had a great time and hope to come back again someday!
We absolutely loved our stay at Kevin & Lesley's cabin. We stayed a week during the peek of the foliage season, it was super sunny and gorgeous! So serene. The cabin is as stated on Airbnb and it will even be better when hot water will be installed for the bath (and maybe inside?)... Anyway, there is something incredible to take a bath in the middle of the woods! I definitely recommend it! The only thing we missed is maybe a table to have dinner outside (but the land is uneven, so...)
+ Kevin and Lesley were nice and helpful and answer super fast to emails!
Lovely, lovely, lovely, all around. Such a gem! This rustic, but never "rough" experience that is, as advertised, well off the cloud based and cell service path was just what my partner and I needed to disconnect and reconnect with one another! I think she was a little nervous about the outhouse and heat your own bath tub water, but was a happy convert once we leaned into our patience and each had such a nice bath outside in the sun! Kevin and Lesley were extremely responsive and helpful. We loved all the little helpful hints and notes posted all around!
Kevin & Lesley have been amazing guests of an amazing place. We spend 3 great days in their cabin, a perfect location to rest after 10 days in hectic NY. Highly recommended!
This cabin is a real gem. Be prepared for a true rustic experience with all the amenities thoughtfully executed. Tucked away in the woods perched near the top of the mountain, enjoy the sound of rushing water beneath a tapestry of twinkling stars as you relax in a warm outdoor bath, Build a fire in the woodburning stove to ward off the chill as you sip cocktails in the soft light. Buy a steak from the store on the main road called On The Edge and cook on the barby. It's farm raised right there. The dairy on the road to the cabin sells fresh corn and has the best price on syrup in Vermont.
We had an awesome time traveling around Vermont for a week, and we spent the final 3 nights at Kevin and Leslie's rustic cabin. It was a nice cozy spot with a wood burning stove and an amazing enclosed back porch where you can sit and listen to the woods while you drink some wine or beer and read a book about ponds or whatever.
I would point out that this place is a little rustic, you've gotta be prepared to not drink the tap water, and not have plumbed toilets. It was a really nice reflection on modes of modern living and the beauty of a simpler way. Kevin was very kind and welcoming, we did not get to meet Leslie. We did not see any moose, but maybe next time.
You must have yourself a bath in the creek.
This cabin is a little slice of paradise! Kevin was a fabulous host who went above and beyond to make our stay perfect. Located in the lush, green mountains of Vermont with no wifi or phone network, it's truly an escape from a modern world that is becoming increasing difficult to escape from.
It's the perfect place to relax and do nothing and just stuff yourself with delicious farm fresh food from all the local farmers, or if you're looking for a bit of activity, there's plenty of hiking and the little towns of Woodstock and Barnard a short drive away.
I'm missing it already back in the press and drive of NYC, and hoping to return again soon!
Kevin and Lesley have carved out a beautiful and otherworldly retreat in the Woodstock woods. The cabin is at once rustic and well equipped (including pleasant surprises like local eggs, maple syrup, pancake mix, and coffee) -- roughing it has never felt so comfortable! On that subject, the outhouse too was very nicely appointed, and the quite literally babbling brook behind the cabin is a perfect spot for a brisk bath (and in my case shave, aided by a kettle of hot water).
Kevin and Lesley themselves were wonderfully helpful and accommodating hosts. On a drizzly evening Kevin even offered to drive up and build a fire in the wood stove.
I would certainly recommend a visit (and heed Kevin and Lesley's advice about the pie shop down the street. It really is that good.)
What a beautiful place. The photos do not do it justice. It has been put together with care and attention to comfort and an eye for beauty. We could not have had a more perfect stay there, surrounded by the woods.
We were late arriving, but Kevin was so accommodating, meeting us in the nearby town to guide us in (our GPS had stopped working). He made time to show us all around, and left us with breakfast supplies. It is comfortable, practical, beautiful and natural... Bliss! Everything that could be needed was provided - kitchen equipment, some basic condiments and cooking ingredients, cleaning supplies, lots of towels and books.. Lots of lovely little touches like candles, a fire pit, and chairs overlooking the stream. The building is beautiful and has so many beautiful aspects. The loft bedroom gives the impression of a hideaway above the trees - just gorgeous, private and very relaxing.
Bathing in the stream, bathing in the outdoor bath, having a fire outside, watching the hummingbirds... absolutely the perfect time away.
Kevin and Lesley were fabulous hosts - prompt in communication, super warm and generous, and helpful in getting us oriented to the area. The cabin is gorgeous - tons of windows and light, a beautiful screened in porch for reading, and adirondack chairs for sitting by the stream. The area is beautiful too, with tons to do. We had a great hike up nearby Mount Ascutney one day and hiked a portion of the AT another. Nearby Silver Lake was also a spot for swimming. We also enjoyed the well-stocked kitchen and grill out back, and all the nearby places to pick up fresh local food. I would definitely go back again, and highly recommend them as hosts!
