I loved staying at Cabin by the Stream! It is the perfect spot nestled in the woods, where the only sounds are the rushing stream and bird song. Kevin and Lesley were wonderful hosts, thinking of everything and anything one could need. The accommodations were as stated, if not even better! The cabin itself has such a great layout and the views are beautiful of the stream. I loved having a few places to relax and soak in the woods. This truly is a special place to stay. Thank you Kevin and Lesley for your wonderful, idyllic cabin.
Wow what a cool place! All the pictures and the description are spot-on. This cozy cabin in the woods was a much needed retreat and we had such a great time. Kevin and Lesley were great hosts (thanks for the muffins -- those were delicious!) and they had everything at the cabin that we needed. Thanks for hosting! We highly recommend this unique stay for some R&R :)
Our time at the Cabin by the Stream was exactly as we had hoped for. IF YOU ARE DEBATING WHERE TO GO--Go here.
It was a remote getaway for us to unplug from our daily lives, and truly enjoy all that nature had to offer. The cabin is truly adorable, and outfitted with most everything you need--tea kettle, pots and pans, iphone chargers (for 4, 5, and 6!), plenty of linens, a wood burning fireplace, and all the other essentials one might need or have forgotten in their packing.
This place fit all the criteria:
1. Light and breezy summer cabin
2. No internet or phone
3. Remote with no one nearby
4. Close access to NYV
5. Close access to civilization
6. Near water
As for the facilities: True to the description, we fell asleep listening to the creek each night and the wind blowing through the trees. We grilled every evening, and even roasted marshmallows and star gazed! (We firefly gazed, too.)
Bathing Situation: Actually, we quite enjoyed the quaint outhouse. The bath we used one day, but found it just as easy to bathe in the creek (my boyfriend did it all three days!) While on the last day, when it rained, it was a little chilly and hot water would have been nice--it was all part of the experience and only made our time at the cabin more memorable.
All in all, this place is exactly what we needed and hoped for. It is charming, and truly feels like home! It's also a convenient and easy drive away from town for shopping. (TIP: Although quaint, The Woodstock Farmer's Market is overpriced in many regards. We recommend shopping at the regularly super market in town (Mac's), or buying some items from On the Edge Farm--just a bit down the road.)
Kevin and Lesley were great hosts. So accommodating to our schedule, meeting us at an easy-to-find location, bringing us more kindling for the fire (we sure used it! Summer evenings in Vermont can get cool), and even got us an AMAZING pie (and I am somewhat a pie snob myself.)
We only wish we had had more time...
Wow! This was an amazing place to stay. Kevin met us at the cabin and showed us around and gave us a few suggestions about local hikes and food. He is very nice and knowledgeable about the area. The cabin is beautiful and very, very clean. The cabin pictures in the profile look great but it is way better in person! I was a little nervous before we arrived about the outhouse, but it was not a big deal at all and was actually fun. We grilled wonderful food every night from the woodstock farmers market and relaxed outside. Overall a very relaxing, fun, peaceful trip. Will definitely try to get back soon!
We came in to run the Covered Bridges half marathon and decided to stay at Kevin and Lesley's cabin (If you are a runner reading this, we cannot express enough what a great run this was - absolutely gorgeous course!). We loved the cottage - it was quaint, cozy and quiet - Perfect get-a-way from busy day to day. Kevin was nice enough to come up and greet us , get us acquainted with the cottage and show us where everything was. He took the time to draw us maps on destinations (recommendations). Everything was well laid out and we were well informed. We thoroughly enjoyed the cottage and all it had to offer. We were impressed with the area and the beautiful scenery surrounding us. We Would not hesitate to recommend !!!!!! Loved our trip !!! Thank you Kevin and Lesley !!!!
Kevin's and Lesley's home by the river was so wonderful. Lesley was there when we got there to show us around and even returned to give us a map for a nearby hike. The cabin is beautiful and sun filled and was clearly very thoughtfully crafted and decorated. The tub and outhouse were awesome, and my partner and I loved taking a dip in the very chilly, amazing river. It was so nice to fall asleep and wake up to the sounds of the river, and the cabin was close enough to town that it was easy to go get food and amazing pie!
This cabin was amazing.
I came looking for solitude, and that is exactly what I got.
No neighbors, no traffic, no noise but the wind, water, and birds.
Cabin has everything you need. "Showers" in the tub are fun as long as it's warmer than 45 degrees out :)
I hope to come back next year.
