If you're looking for respite and inspiration,
Welcome to Voss Gardens!
We are casual and chic here in the Santa Cruz Mountains. Perched in the redwoods, our home is an architectural wonder built by our family of engineers and artists back in the eclectic seventies. Over the years an assemblage of art, antiques and curios has charmed its way into the spacious rooms and lofts. We offer 6 acres of quiet ambiance for guests and business travelers. Surrounded by wildlife, our year round Organic Gardens sustain the not-so-starving Artists in Residence at the Montalvo Arts Center in Saratoga and also provide robust mountain grown greens for private healthy chefs in San Francisco.
Although our location is central to all the area has to offer, you may just want to sit on one of the many decks and commune with the muse, ponder the profundities, finish that novel, play the piano, paint the landscape, breathe deeply....
Then for a break, you are
-5 miles from Henry Cowell State Park, 28 miles from Big Basin State Park, both have stunning hiking and biking trails,
-10 miles from the beach and all the wonderful weirdness that is Santa Cruz,
-20 minutes from Silicon Valley,San Jose International Airport, and a myriad of metropolitan pleasures,
-1 hour south of San Francisco, my favorite city in the world,
-1 hour north of Monterrey/Carmel,
-mile from a stunning old growth redwood, "The King of the Forest."(see Picture) Take a walk or bike ride from our house, and pass by a pony farm, historical markers, vineyards and old stagecoach and railroad routes. This little area of Glenwood is loaded with history.
-64 bonded wineries within 20 minutes. If you like Pinot Noir this is your neck of the woods.
Because we have several rooms and price points,
PLEASE CHECK THE 'SAME LOCATION" LISTINGS ON THE BOTTOM RIGHT OF THIS PAGE.
We are offering:
-1 bedroom with private entrance and 1/2 bath, Room A, booked through this listing. The shower is shared with our family so we try to arrange shower times ahead to make everyone comfortable.
-1 bedroom with private deck, Room B, shared bathroom and shower. Book it through "Private Room Santa Cruz Mountains"
-2 loft bedrooms with air mattresses, shared bathroom and shower. Book it through " Enjoy Mountains from Your Room."
- Camping options, book it through "Camp in the Santa Cruz Mountains."
We make every effort to maintain cleanliness. However, our mountain well water has a high mineral content and 40 years of buildup has left our facilities with a rusty looking surface that is extremely difficult to remove. We sanitize regularly and ask our guests to please keep this in mind. Consider it part of the charm of living in the mountains.
Kitchen is generally not available but we can be very flexible.
Hostess(that would be me) is a great cook and meal options featuring our world class produce can be arranged for an additional fee.(per person) Morning tea/coffee and a fresh baked goodie are complementary.
$10/good old farm breakfast
$15/ let's do lunch
$30/ dinner, salad, soup, entree, dessert
guests are encouraged to bring their own wine
You can further taste our estate by visiting my blog,(search for "eatsbyeden") I've been somewhat remiss in posting lately but it has more witty tidbits, pictures and foodage.
Working on more pictures, thanks for visiting.
Voss Gardens is a delightful place to stay. The rooms are comfortable and clean, with nice touches of artisan chocolates, bottled water, French Press for coffee in the morning (or teas) and a private deck off one room and a private outside sitting area in the other. The sustainable terraced gardens are fascinating. Eden and Craig have created vegetable, flower and fruit areas which surround the house and they happily gave us a tour. The house itself is a creative work of art, with several levels for guests and a spacious, sunny kitchen. The food was wonderful: we took the option for a special dinner and breakfast and brought our own wine. The delicious dinner included greens from Eden's garden. Our morning concluded with a picturesque one mile walk to the beautiful redwood, "The King of the Forest." Eden's special touch shines through in her home and her hospitality. We highly recommend this Airbnb, located close to Santa Cruz and San Francisco.
We had a lovely time at Voss Gardens. My family and I were in the area to attend Thanksgiving dinner at a friends house and needed a place to stay so we didn't have to drive back to Oakland that night.
Eden and her partner Craig were hosting their own family meal and had a house full of relatives and extended family. We were heartily welcomed and felt right at home. The grounds were beautiful, the rooms clean and comfortable, the artisan made chocolates in our rooms were delicious. Highly recommended!
Our stay at Voss Gardens was brief but enjoyable. Eden was very communicative and flexible about our arrival/departure times. We enjoyed relaxing on their deck with their friendly dog, Buddy and later chatting with our hosts. Our room was comfortable and Eden made sure we felt right at home. We were welcomed with some delicious cookies and even though we left very early the next morning, she made sure that we had muffins and coffee/tea. This is a great option for anyone who wants to stay close to Santa Cruz but be outside of the city. Thanks for being such gracious hosts!
Voss Gardens is delightful and very dog friendly, as is their boxer mix, Buddy. The bed was comfortable, the atmosphere welcoming, and the deck a lovely experience with a great view, and very private in spite of being located centrally. The $10 is money well spent for an ample and delicious breakfast. Eden loves to cook for you and presents the food beautifully. Her frittata is one of the best of our experience and features produce from their lovely garden.
We really enjoyed our stay at the Voss Gardens. Eden was a great host and was very helpful with helping us getting there and visit the surroundings. She is a wonderful cook, you should definitely try a lunch or a dinner. The room was clean and comfortable with a private entrance and a small area to sit outside for breakfast or just a rest. The house and the gardens are amazing and very inspiring.
