We are casual and chic here in the Santa Cruz Mountains. Perched in the redwoods, our home is an architectural wonder built by our family of engineers and artists back in the eclectic seventies. Over the years an assemblage of art, antiques and curios has charmed its way into the spacious rooms and lofts. We offer 6 acres of quiet ambiance for guests and business travelers. Surrounded by wildlife, our year round Organic Gardens sustain the not-so-starving Artists in Residence at the Montalvo Center for the Arts in Saratoga and also provide robust mountain grown greens for private healthy chefs in San Francisco.
Although our location is central to all the area has to offer, you may just want to sit on one of the many decks and commune with the muse, ponder the profundities, finish that novel, play the piano, paint the landscape, breathe deeply....
Then for a break, you are
-5 miles from Henry Cowell State Park, 28 miles from Big Basin State Park, both have stunning hiking and biking trails,
-10 miles from the beach and all the wonderful weirdness that is Santa Cruz,
-20 minutes from Silicon Valley,San Jose International Airport, and a myriad of metropolitan pleasures,
-1 hour south of San Francisco, my favorite city in the world,
-1 hour north of Monterrey/Carmel,
-1 mile from a stunning old growth redwood, "The King of the Forest."(see Picture) Take a walk or bike ride from our house, and pass by a pony farm, historical markers, vineyards and old stagecoach and railroad routes. This little area of Glenwood is loaded with history.
-64 bonded wineries within 20 minutes. If you like Pinot Noir this is your neck of the woods.
We can accommodate up to 8 people but they must booked in separate listings. Because we have several rooms and price points, go to Eden's profile and find the 'SAME LOCATION" listing on the bottom or left of the page. Here you will find more reviews, photos and options. Please note: We charge extra for extra guests. Read the Details or contact us for special arrangements. We are flexible within reason.
We are offering:
-Room A-1 bedroom with private entrance and 1/2 bath, booked through this listing. The shower is shared so we look to manage shower times to make everyone comfortable.

-Minimally furnished "Your Moment of Zen" offers a meditatve space with a 3rd story deck with stunning view and option to sleep outside.
We make every effort to maintain cleanliness. However, our mountain well water has a high mineral content and 40 years of buildup has left our facilities with a rusty looking surface that is extremely difficult to remove. We sanitize regularly and ask our guests to please keep this in mind. Consider it part of the charm of living in the mountains.
With the California drought in its 4th year we ask guests to limit their showers to 5 minutes.
Kitchen is generally not available but we can be very flexible.
Hostess(that would be me) is a great cook and meal options featuring our world class produce can be arranged for an additional fee.(per person) Cooking classes featuring foraging for ingredients are also possibilities.

Eden was very responsive in her replys and very descriptive with her directions, which we very helpful when finding the place for the first time. We enjoyed this place and it was very "homey" and we liked the fact it was off the beaten path. Eden was kind and provided us with ample amenities.
We also met Buddy (her dog) and he was a big softie! He is a good size boxer who got along with our pup just fine!
She also made us warm banana bread in the AM and was a pleasure to speak with. We are looking forward to staying again.
The garden (and home) of Eden was as welcoming as I expected it would be. Eden is a lovely hostess who took me on a tour of her gardens and shared culinary tips and ideas I couldn't wait to try for myself. The private and shared space was clean, comfortable and cozy, and the little treats that were left behind were much appreciated.
I enjoyed my stay in the mountains and would highly recommend!
Eden was an amazing host and her place was relaxing and comfortable! Can't wait to stay with her again.
Eden was very helpful and welcoming before we even got to Voss Gardens. We arrived much later than expected, but she was flexible with us and left the Christmas lights on so that we would be able to find the house easily (and we needed them!). Voss Gardens is a relaxing respite from city life. My group of 5 (coworkers) spent one night there after a day of team bonding in the Santa Cruz area. Eden made us feel welcome, and had coffee and cobblers ready for us in the morning, which was a nice treat before we headed back to work.
Lovely experience. Eden was very warm and welcoming... The little homemade treats were yummy in the morning, and the views from the decks were great. I really enjoyed how peaceful and quiet it was!
We had a wonderful time, a unique and LOVELY holiday. Here are the TOP things we enjoyed:
1. Eden's greeting. We drove into the quiet hilly town and Eden welcomed us with her big smile and warmth. The fresh flowers and home-made short cake continued her warmth.
2. Voss Gardens, the gorgeous home and retreat. This is not only a spacious and handsome house that was built by Eden's husband and his family, but also one filled with sunlight, musical instruments, art work, textile pieces crafted by Eden and much more. It is a lovely labyrinth of unique mosaics and rare architectural details. We were spellbound by the house that basks in sunlight and wears the Santa Cruz mountains as a petticoat. The home is very close to great beaches, wineries and local music scenes (a Ukelele band called Sons of the Beaches plays once a week near the downtown!). Several art shows and plays at the University of California, Santa Cruz complete Voss Gardens. This is a quiet oasis close to culture, wine, art and our heart. I plan on gifting my sister and her family a weekend at the Voss Gardens.
3. Buddy! Loved the Boxer who commands instant and total love. While Eden was making her legendary meals, I was finding ways to hang out with Buddy on a regular basis.
4. Eden's meals, dessert and meals (oh! I already mentioned meals). We had salad made from home-grown greens and fennel pollen; Borscht that single-handedly made me a slob at the table, because I started licking the bowl; zucchini-tofu-quiche; and a wonderful dessert. The last item was home-made Soy Froyo with strawberries that were cooked to a fine reduction. The Froyo also had a bark of dark chocolate that was made by Eden's friend. There was a lot of wine too! Following morning we had freshly made waffles, whipped maple cream cheese, more fennel pollen, tart-and-sweet plum sauce, coffee, and an awesome drink: watermelon, ginger, mint with almond milk!
