About this listing
A self contained chalet/cabin in the garden of a beautiful villa in Stanley Bay, Devonport, Auckland, New Zealand.
The cabin is modern and comfortable. Cosy and warm in winter - with a heat pump. Cool and open in the summer.
Queen size bed with mattress topper, new kitchenette with electric stove top, dishwasher, fridge, microwave, no oven but BBQ available. Everything provided in the kitchen. New bathroom with shower, heated towel rail. WIFI in the chalet. T.V./Radio/DVD. You may use the washing machine in the main house at any time.
Balcony with table and chairs is the perfect place to relax after a day of exploring. Access to the swimming pool (in summer) if you like. It is solar heated.
We supply you with a wide variety of easy food - eggs, milk, butter, bread, home made jam, cereal, bananas, tomatoes, cheese and crackers, orange juice, and a welcome drink of some small bottles of white wine; red wine or champagne.. Great if you arrive later in the afternoon or evening, and don't want to go out for a meal. Have a glass of wine and egg on toast, on the balcony. We have a selection of great reads/games for a rainy, relaxing afternoon as well.
Stanley Bay Beach is a place to relax and see the city lights. It is just down the road from us. It has a "worker's ferry timetable" which means it runs weekdays, in the morning and afternoon, but not in the middle of the day. Otherwise Devonport village is a 5 minute drive or 20 minute walk. If you don't have a car, we are happy to pick you up from the Devonport Ferry. It leaves every half an hour. Buses run directly from the airport to the Ferry building so we are easy to find. During your stay, we also drive to Devonport regularly each day and can offer a lift when needed. Devonport is the best place in Auckland - so we think! Great restaurants, an information centre, a pub, a cinema, waterfront walks.
You can park inside our house property, off the street. The chalet is separate from the house, across the garden.
Ideal for a couple, or single person. No smoking please.
Please let me know if you have any questions. We look forward to meeting you.
Not many! But we think that you will be self contained and want to get on with your own itinerary. We are friendly, easy going people. We work from home, so are usually around.
It was a great stay. It was only two nights so didnt see enough of the neighbourhood, but we really enjoyed the cottage. Great facilities, a full fridge and a good place to sit outside. Sherry picked us up from the ferry and dropt us of again, with a small tour around the area. That was really nice and we recommend this place as a good airbnb. It is a good place after visiting the city. Thank you Sherry, Hanna and Thijs
Sherry made us feel very welcome on our arrival and was very friendly and helpful. The accommodation was excellent, very comfortable with everything you would need for your stay. The Cabin was very private with a large and comfortable bed, clean and well equipped.
The fridge and larder was well stocked with food and drink, all you would need for an enjoyable and relaxing stay.
Sherry was super friendly, very accommodating, showed us around Davenport (very useful tour). The facilities were fantastic - an extremely well decked out shed at the bottom of the garden. Couldn't believe there was a dishwasher. She supplied the place with gratis beer and wine and yummy breakfast things (including farm fresh eggs). It's an hour from the airport and super quiet and private: a great place to de-jetlag. Easy to get to bustling Auckland but also easy to find an empty beach to swim.
This cabin is the perfect airbnb experience! It is very well equipped and has everything you need ... even food for breakfast. Sherry and Tim are wonderful hosts and went out of their way to help me during my stay in Devonport. Highly recommended.
After a long plane flight to NZ and a day exploring Auckland, my wife and I headed to Devonport to meet Tim and Sherry and stay in their garden cottage. It could not have been more lovely in all respects. Tim showed us the cottage and later Sherry drove us around Devonport, pointing out the sights and local restaurants. Later she drove us back to town so we could find dinner and talk a lovely walk back to the cottage in the cooler air. The views of Auckland from just down the hill from the cottage are striking. In the morning, we had a stocked pantry and fridge from which to make a hearty breakfast. A terrific place to unwind after a long journey and delightful hosts. First rate in all respects. T and S, you're welcome to our home if you end up going to M'burg. Cheers! Jeff and Jodi
The cabin in the garden was exactly what we needed to finally arrive in NZ. Sherry was a great host and provided everything what we needed including a tour through Devonport which was perfect to know your way around.
