Loft Bedroom in Loop, Best Location

Apartment - Private room · North Wabash Avenue, Chicago, IL 60602, United States

The Space

Ideal location for those attending conferences in the Loop, shows in the Downtown Theater District, or simply sight seeing. Within a 2 block radius of Millennium Park, Palmer House Hilton, Macy's (Marshall Field's), Chicago Cultural Center, Gene Siskel Film Institute, Art Institute of Chicago, tons of shopping, and iconic restaurants. Reach most major attractions with only a quick walk or short bus/train ride. Extremely convenient location with access to all train lines. Catch the Blue Line from inside O'Hare or the Orange Line from inside Midway directly here.

The 11ft by 10ft room has a full sized bed with 4 drawers built in, a small desk with an office chair, and a bench for your suitcase. A hook rail with 5 tri-hooks to hang up clothes is in the room, but the closet across the hallway provides additional space if needed. I want to clarify what I mean by loft style bedroom. It is a completely private bedroom with french doors on one wall and 3/4th wall with sliding windows to allow sunlight in on the other. The mattress is a 12" spring with 2" 5.5 memory foam top. Clean, fresh high thread count Egyptian cotton sheets, Siberian 600 fill down comforter, and duvet will be provided as well as fresh towels. Feel free to grab a bowl of cereal, fry a couple eggs, or toast some toast before heading out. We have a keurig coffee maker too to help you get that quick caffeine fix in the morning.

My girlfriend and I live in this 1200 sqft, two bedroom, 1 bath apartment, beautifully decorated with natural stone floors and custom furniture locally crafted from reclaimed wood. The entire unit has been fitted with half inch, double glazed soundproof windows over double pane windows with a 6" air insulation barrier, so you can be close to the hustle and bustle of downtown, but not hear it. Besides the aesthetics, location, and cleanliness of the apartment, a huge positive of this arrangement is that you get to hang out with us and learn where all the foodies are eating, the best places to grab a cocktail, and simply what makes Chicago a great city to be in.

Since I listed my girlfriend and myself as positives, I should probably talk about us a little. I'm an MD/PhD student with a flexible schedule. If I'm available, I'd be more than happy to stop at one of my favorite local restuarants, take you to the art institute or field museum as a guests with my membership, or simply point out some great places to check out during your time in Chicago. My girlfriend is an executive assistant and generally works from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., so we ask that all guests respect her sleeping schedule by not making excessive noise after 11 p.m. on week days. That being said, we are extremely welcoming, accommodating, and easy to get along with. So feel free to stream Netflix or play Wii sports on our 60" plasma TV late into the night, just please keep the surround sound system at a reasonable level during the week.

We have a well stocked kitchen and you're welcome to use it. We just ask that you leave the place as you found it. If I'm cooking and you're hungry, let me know. I love to cook and, chances are, wouldn't mind doubling the recipe. There's an in unit washer/dryer, ironing board and iron that you are welcome to use; we only ask that you treat it with respect. I'm into video games and have a home theater PC hooked up to an entertainment center. Feel free to play any of the games or use the computer to check your email, print maps, boarding passes, etc.

We have had such amazing experiences meeting people from all over the world and making new friends in the process. We ask our guests to hang a flag pin (provided) on their home town to keep track of the countries represented. We have had visitors from 5 continents representing over 20 countries. We would like to eventually see our map of visitors filled with pin flags in every nation. To achieve this goal, we are currently offering a 100% discount to guests that can prove they were born in Antartica.

  • Peter and Krista are the most entertaining couple - vibrant and totally enthusiastic about their neighborhood. Super advice and clear directions made our visit such a pleasure. All we had to do was bring the sunshine!! Our bed was so comfortable, the room nice and private, the apartment is terrific - and location location location! Could not be beat! Thank you for being so calm with our nosh in the fridge, and our late check out. Next time we will have to get to a Comedy Club!! Your place certainly sways the college pick towards SAIC!
Well, Wildberry might have some pull as well:)

  • I had such a great time staying and Peter and Krista's condo! Such a great location---especially if you're flying in from Midway since the orange line (train) is literally steps away from their place. I loved getting to talk about our mutual love for traveling and Chicago food with them. The room was clean, comfortable, and private. I definitely felt welcomed and safe during my stay. Highly recommended!

  • I had a great stay at Peter and Krista's. Unfortunately, I did not get to meet Peter, but Krista was great host. I ended up spending a lot of time at the apartment and Krista was very cool about me hijacking her TV and living room for the weekend. The location is amazing if you are coming in from Midway. I recommend this place to anyone coming into Chicago!

  • I had the pleasure of staying with Peter and Krista for three nights while attending a conference right around the corner at the Palmer House. I was welcomed with a quick tour and clear guidance on how to get around the house and the neighborhood. The accommodations were impeccable -- the bed was super comfortable, my space was private, the condo was clean and well appointed, and I was invited to use anything I needed in the kitchen (the blender makes good smoothies!). I enjoyed talking about Chicago, Costa Rica and all kinds of topics with my knowledgeable and interesting hosts. I feel I ended my stay with two great new friends! Thank you, Peter and Krista!

  • Peter and Krista were great hosts and made our stay in Chicago an amazing one. They were very welcoming and provided the perfect combination of interaction whilst giving us space at the same time. The room was exactly as described and the mattress was incredibly comfortable! I would definitely recommend staying there and I would do so if I were to travel in Chicago again.

  • We had a great stay with Peter and Krista. When we checked in, Peter was very helpful and explained the layout of the city for us, pointing us in the direction of transit and nearby landmarks. The apartment is in an excellent location, convenient to most of the downtown tourist spots and right by several CTA stations that can take you to any other part of the city. The space was clean, the room was private, and the bed was comfortable. If we go back to Chicago anytime soon, I hope we can stay there again!

  • I can't recommend Peter and Krista's place highly enough. They were fantastic hosts - friendly, funny, and generous with suggestions - and the apartment is in an excellent location (very short walk to Millennium Park, Art Institute, symphony, train, etc.). I had a great time on my visit, and I would definitely stay here the next time I'm in Chicago.

About
I grew up living between Chicago during the school year and Costa Rica during the breaks (The benefits of having both parents employed as teachers with summers off). I loved experiencing it as a child, teenager, college student and whatever label I am now. In all honesty, being able to experience the urban and rural through the different perspectives of age, responsibilities, interests, and groups of friends really expanded my knowledge of and interest in Chicago, Costa Rica, and the world in general. I like to think of myself as an aged local historian in training, trying to accumulate as much knowledge as humanly possible through first hand experience and people's stories. I am a huge fan of swapping travel stories over local ale and cherish getting local insider tips about anywhere I'm traveling to. If you stay with us, I will be sure to dish on all the great hidden gems Chicago or Costa Rica have to offer. I like to take visiting friends to the Art Institute, a concert in Millennium Park, or simply a walk around the river. If I'm available, I have a few memberships to local museums so I'll probably be able to take you as guests and access members only exhibits. I'm a foodie and have been to over 200 restaurants in Chicago. I love it all. From the $2 tacos in Pilsen to the $200 dinner in the Fulton River District/West Town, I appreciate Chicago's unique culinary style. Feel free to ask for any recommendations, I love an excuse to share my passion for Chicago.
