Description

The space

This terrace is situated at the edge of Surry Hills, newly renovated at the end of Feb 2016. Walking distance to all amenities. Cafes, restaurants, shops, supermarkets (Coles, Woolsworth and Aldi), parks, swimming pool, all within minutes of walking. Central station is just 620 meters away! There are also bus stops within 50 meters into the city, yet it is located in a quiet side street away from all the traffic noises. Chinatown is a 20mins walk. UTS campus 20mins walk.

This terrace has three double bedrooms (one is mine) and a self-contain private studio with it's own entrance.

The guest bedroom on offer (room2), it is fully furnished with a queen size bed, build in wardrobe, televison, reverse air cycle conditioner and an ensuite (private) toilet and shower (yes no sharing!).

The open plan living, kitchen and dining room adorned with substantial glass doors across the western aspect of the house and sliding glass door along the back of the house, allowing a profusion of glorious morning and afternoon sun. Newly renovated throughout with modern finishes, American oaks floor, Wifi internet, sunny courtyard, internal laundry and dryer (I provide this free to my guests, so please be considerate and only wash when you have a full load and not just a few pieces at a time), free 1P and 2P on-street parking along the streets around the house (meaning you can only park your car for 1 or 2 hours per day, if you need whole day parking, please contact me).

I also have another private room listing and a Studio with private entry:

Getting to my house:
Traveling alone, take the train to Central station ($17.90 one way from Domestic airport/International airport), its a 10mins walk from there to my house. Alternatively take an Uber (about $22-32) or taxi (about $30-50 from Domestic/International Airport).

Traveling 2 people or more, just take an Uber (about $22-32) or taxi from the airport (cost about $30-50 and takes about 20-30mins). The one-way train ticket from the airports to the city is $17.90, so you are better off taking a taxi if there are 2 or more of you!

Check-in and Check-out:
Check-out: 10:30am (any later check-out is only possible if I don't have a booking on your check-out day), but you can always leave your bags elsewhere in the house (just not the room) until you are ready to leave.

Check-in time is after 11:30am. You can come earlier(not before 9am please) but your room may not be ready, you can leave your luggage/bags in the house and come back later when your room is ready. I work freelance during the week, please communicate with me few days before your arrival to arrange check-in timing.

Security Deposit:
Please read about the Security Deposit on the FAQ section of Airbnb website. It has come to be knowledge that Airbnb no longer authorised the security deposit on guest credit card, another word guest/s do not actually pay the deposit. If a host makes a claim on the security deposit, Airbnb mediate and collect payment from the guest, as necessary.

A little about Surry Hills:
Surry Hills is a former working class suburb and garment district which has been gentrified over the years to become one of our most cosmopolitan inner city areas. This young and vibrant hub of entertainment and fashion is now best known for its design stores, thriving café scene and top restaurants. In fact, it offers a vast array of fare from around the globe, from cheap and cheerful eateries to fine dining.
Its streets are lined with quaint turn of the century terraces which have been renovated over the years and give it a distinct character. Many of its warehouses have been converted into trendy apartments and headquarters for many creative enterprises. Its close proximity to the city and nightlife make it a particularly desirable address for young professionals.

Surry Hills was ranked 23rd most stylish neighborhood in the world in 2012 by lifestyle magazine Complex.

Bordered by the suburbs of Redfern, Darlinghurst, Paddington and the city, Surry Hills is a creative and artistic hub. It has a prolific number of art galleries, the most famous of which is the Brett Whiteley Studio. The Surry Hills markets are held on the first Saturday of every month in Shannon Reserve on bustling Crown Street, drawing an interesting crowd that’s great for people watching.

At its eastern border you’ll find the busy thoroughfare of Oxford Street, home to an endless array of bars and clubs, while Central Station, one of Sydney’s busiest transport interchanges, is a brief walk away.

Surry Hills is also the No. 1 livable suburb in Sydney according to the Urban Living Index in 2015.

Getting around

Train, buses and soon light rail (tram) all within walking distance from my house. If only visiting the city there is no need to purchase any traveling passes. If you want to get around by public transport, make sure you get an Opal card (from all convenient stores, 7-11 stores, train stations). It cost you minimum $10, and it comes with $10 value to use on all public transport (buses, trains, light rail, ferries). There is a daily cap of $15 on all public transport (not including the airport train line) and on Sunday the cap is only $2.50! Minimum top up value is $10 at all convenient stores, 7-11 stores and train stations, do not top up more than what is required as to get a refund is nearly impossible for tourists. (unless you have an Australian bank account).
If you do not wish to purchase an Opal card, please ask me about loaning one from me.
