House - Private room · Goodlet Street, Surry Hills, NSW 2010, Australia

The Space

This single level terrace is situated at the edge of Surry Hills. Walking distance to all amenities. Cafes, restaurants, shops, supermarkets (Coles, Woolsworth and Aldi), parks, swimming pool, all within minutes of walking. Central station is just 600 meters away, or walk to Railway Square for the FREE 555 city bus! There are also bus stops within 50 meters into the city, yet it is located in a quiet side street away from all the traffic noises. Chinatown is a 20mins walk. UTS campus 20mins walk.

This terrace has two double bedrooms. The second bedroom is mine, the main bedroom is the guest bedroom on offer, it is fully furnished with a queen size posturepedic bed, build in wardrobe and a fireplace (fireplace is just for decorative purposes). The room sleeps 2 comfortably but if you have a child or a 3rd person, I can supply a single mattress for an extra cost, please send request. There is NO attached bathroom to the bedroom, you have to share the bathroom with me.

The open plan living and dining room adorned with substantial windows which run across the western aspect of the home, allowing a profusion of glorious afternoon sun. Renovated throughout with modern finishes, the bathroom is refined with crisp white tiles.

Polished timber floor boards in bedrooms, living and dining room, classical archways, high ceiling, second fireplace in dinning room, Wifi internet, sunny courtyard (for the smokers and also a nice lazy breakfast/lunch in the sun), internal laundry, dryer, free 1P and 4P on-street parking along the streets around the house.

Getting to my house:
Traveling alone, take the train to Central station ($16.40 one way from Domestic airport, $17.20 one way from International airport), its a 10mins walk from there to my house. Alternatively take a taxi (about $30-40 from Domestic/International Airport).

Traveling 2 people or more, just take a taxi from the airport (cost about $30-40 and takes about 20-30mins). The one-way train ticket from the airport to the city is $16.40 from domestic airport and $17.20 from International airport, so you are better off taking a taxi if there are 2 or more of you!

Check-in and Check-out:
Check-in and check-out timing are flexible. But as I will only be home before 9am or after 6pm during the week (Mon - Fri), please communicate with me beforehand if you are arriving outside this timing.

Check-out times are also flexible, however if I have a back-to-back booking on either your check-in or check-out date, I may request to have you room clear out before 9am (so I can I clean the room), you can leave your bags and belonging anywhere in the house (living, dining) and still have key access to the house until you leave. Likewise if you arrived before the room is available, you can leave your belonging somewhere else in the house.

Security Deposit:
Please read about the Security Deposit on the FAQ section of Airbnb website. It has come to be knowledge that Airbnb no longer authorised the security deposit on guest credit card, another word guest/s do not actually pay the deposit. A little about Surry Hills:
Surry Hills is a former working class suburb and garment district which has been gentrified over the years to become one of our most cosmopolitan inner city areas. This young and vibrant hub of entertainment and fashion is now best known for its design stores, thriving café scene and top restaurants. In fact, it offers a vast array of fare from around the globe, from cheap and cheerful eateries to fine dining.
Its streets are lined with quaint turn of the century terraces which have been renovated over the years and give it a distinct character. Many of its warehouses have been converted into trendy apartments and headquarters for many creative enterprises. Its close proximity to the city and nightlife make it a particularly desirable address for young professionals.

Surry Hills was ranked 23rd most stylish neighborhood in the world in 2012 by lifestyle magazine Complex.

Bordered by the suburbs of Redfern, Darlinghurst, Paddington and the city, Surry Hills is a creative and artistic hub. It has a prolific number of art galleries, the most famous of which is the Brett Whiteley Studio. The Surry Hills markets are held on the first Saturday of every month in Shannon Reserve on bustling Crown Street, drawing an interesting crowd that’s great for people watching.

At its eastern border you’ll find the busy thoroughfare of Oxford Street, home to an endless array of bars and clubs, while Central Station, one of Sydney’s busiest transport interchanges, is a brief walk away.

  • It is the best of my best experience in airbnb, not one of...Tat's lovely house in top location make our Sydney trip perfect than nothing. We spent four nights in Sydney, Tat spent nightsbto talk with us and shared his useful info of local, so nice host. Tat's house is @ a beautiful and quite street in Surry Hill, which is a best choice for trip. It is surrounded with bars and restraunts, and also only steps from station and central. Actually, we travelled by foot to Cellar Quey, QVB, even the Fish Market, etc instead of city transportation for most time.. Every thing is better than the pictures. Haha , also, Tat is much more handsome and cute than his pix here hahah..

  • We had a great stay at Tat's place. We arrived on a midnight horror and tat was kind enough to allow us to check in early and waited for us to arrive. He was very organised and helpful with maps and instructions for how to get around and what to do. We did not even see tat for the next 3 days so it was as though we had the place to ourselves. It was clean, comfortable and in a great location so we walked most places. It was about a 30 min walk to circular quay but a 5 min walk from central train station with lots of cafés and restaurants nearby. Would definitely recommend staying with Tat.

  • Our stay at Tat's went superbly beyond our expectations. Tat was a gracious host and his chic home was conveniently located, well-kept and uplifted all senses. We were quite lucky to taste the most awesome banana muffins ever baked... by Tat!

  • We stayed at Tat's place for a week and loved it! It's located perfectly in lovely Surry hills and very easy to get around the city and very close to all the hip bars and restaurants. Tat was very helpful with providing all the info we needed to get around and he even provided his own map of the city with his recomedations what to see and do. We had a very pleasant stay!

  • Tat was a wonderful host for us. Not only that the room and apartment was perfect (everything as shown on the pictures), you can also see that Tat does everything to make you feel comfortable and make the most out of your stay in Sydney. The first day we arrived, he provided us with a self-made city map, an information folder, lots of excellent recommendations and advise for the city which was really helpful.
Also the location in Surry Hills is very convenient, with lots of nice bars and restaurants around. It's only a short walk or bus ride to the harbour and it's very easy to reach from the airport.
My boyfriend and me stayed for 3 days at Tat's place and had great time. We would always come back and definitely recommend his place to stay in Sydney!

Thanks a lot Tat! Cheers, Melanie

  • Thank you Tat for the wonderful stay!

This was my first time using airbnb, the home was beautiful and the room was very comfortable. The location is great, it is in walking direction to the free bus in Sydney and to many restaurants. Tat was especially helpful in helping point out the directions for places to visit.
