I can't review the condo, as Larry double booked us. I will say that Larry is a stand-up guy, as he understood the situation we were in and booked us at the King Kamehameha Marriott at his cost.

The condo was doublebooked so I can't say anything about the condo itself. I can only comment on how I was treated. Upon arriving to the condo at the check-in time, I met the other people staying in the condo. I immediately called Larry from the inn's phone. Larry sounded bored and unwelcoming. He promptly just said he would book me somewhere else. He called the same inn where his condo was and got me the worst, dirty and unkept room in the inn which according to the clerk is not even normally rented out due to its awful condition. So basically I was downgraded from a very nicely furnished, gift-basket, wifi etc. inclusive condo to a one that is unpresentable (broken carpets and walls etc). One reason could have been that many of the places in Kona were quite full and what I understood was that he would get me another place for the end of my stay and would give me a proper refund. To make things easier for Larry, I decided that I would keep that condo so that Larry would not have to go through the trouble of searching for another place. He had promised me a proper refund afterall and I though it could make up for the difference in quality. I imagined that the refund would be approximately half of the price I paid. Well, after my stay I contacted Larry about the refund. He offered to refund me for $25. Needless to say I was flabbergasted and asked him whether he is serious. I never received a reply of any kind afterwards regardless of sending him another email. There was a melodramatic detail too. While I was waiting for Larry to organize and sort out me to be condo there was a couple at the Inns lobby. The wife was crying over the condo they had there since its quality was not good enough. The clerk comforted her by telling her about the room I was getting. "You should see the room he will stay in, now that's a mess".

I can't leave a review of the apartment itself, as it was double-booked and someone was inside when we arrived. However, Larry was wonderful in handling the problem. He immediately booked us into a hotel a few blocks away. We had a wonderful stay in Kona.

Larry accidentally double-booked us at his place. We called him and he realized the direness of the situation and immediately booked us at another local hotel (the King Kamehameha hotel) which was a very nice hotel! He booked us there for 7 of our 8 nights and then on our eighth night he booked us at the Waikoloa Marriott which was REALLY nice! So can't say much about the condo, except that it is in the heart of Kona, so everything in Kona is very walkable from the condo. We can definitely say that Larry is an upstanding guy who will take care of you and cares that you have a pleasant time in Hawaii.

The condo was very nice, and quiet. It was located within walking distance of lots of restaurants and stuff to do at night. Not a lot of room to do any serious cooking, but fit our needs perfectly. My friend said the bed was very comfortable and I had no problem with the couch I didn't even pull it out and slept fine. Nice to sit out on the little patio in the morning and enjoy a cup of coffee to start the day. We'd stay here again.

The Condo was great. The only problem we had was parking. If you come back late you may have to park out on the street or up to a block away. I would be inclined to rent the condo again if I ever return to the Big Island.

I have one daughter living on the mainland who is a great young professional woman.

I look forward to your stay on the Big Island. I travel the world and love to discover new places and revisit my favorite "old" places, too.
