We fully remodeled the house, so it is in great shape. It is located in Barton Hills, sandwiched between Town Lake/ Barton Springs, the greenbelt, and lively South Lamar. Barton Hills is just south of downtown (about a $15 cab ride). The house is in walking distance to the Barton Creek greenbelt which is great to hike around, and within a mile or two of some great Austin restaurants, bars, and shops on South Lamar and Barton Springs Rd (Uchi, Black Sheep Lodge, Torchy's Tacos, Kirby Lane Cafe and Chuys to name a few- and we will send you a map we made with all of our recommended activities and spots to hit!).
Please let me know if you have any questions at all or need additional pictures!
The guests will have access to everything except the 'owner' master and one additional closet (a hanging unit with nice hangers provided though!). Otherwise, we hope that our guests make themselves at home, including using any of our dishes, cooking oils/ spices etc.
Interaction with Guests
We are happy to interact as much as our guests would like! We have exchanged several calls and texts with recommendations, tips etc with some and only one 'hello!' with others.
Usually guests will rent a car and/or rent bikes that are delivered to our house to use for transport to downtown, Zilker park etc.
Have fun and make yourself at home!
The house was beautiful, and set up fantastic! Great location for getting around Austin, and also in a beautiful quiet neighborhood. The owner was super quick to respond, and very helpful! Would absolutely use again, and recommend!
Sloan was extremely communicative and hospitable in preparation for my and my team's visit. She was very detailed in outlining all facets of her house. She offered to buy groceries, which I didn't expect of an AirBNB host. She even wrote a welcome message on the chalkboard in the living room that her kids normally use. A very kind gesture and 100% Texas hospitality.
There was an issue with the cable TV and Sloan and her husband repeatedly offered to fix it, including making a visit to the house to attempt to fix it.
I communicated with Sloan often during the visit for a reminder on details she had already provided; she was patient and always available, even though she was on vacation.
Sloan gave me a head's up before arriving in Texas that the lawn in her backyard hadn't yet been placed down, due to cold weather. I appreciated that she felt it important to raise that issue with me so I wouldn't be surprised when I arrived.
Overall, the stay with Sloan was a fantastic experience. Myself and my friends were happy to have stayed there and I absolutely would do it again!
We had a great time. The home was as advertised. It is in a good location for exploring Austin and surrounding areas.
It was a great trip and Sloan accurately represented her house. Very clean, inviting and a very nice home.
Only good things to say!! Sloan is really organized. She made sure we felt at home. She is an amazing host and I recommand her house to anybody that is staying in Austin. Hope we get to stay there again for SXSW 2015!
Great house, great owner, great hospitality
With 4 separate bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a nice kitchen with several sitting areas, and a great back yard, we felt home away from home. The owner had asked us if we would like any groceries and after a long flight and arriving at the house, the drinks and food were greatly appreciated. We rented this house with 4 colleagues and the house was big enough for everyone to have their privacy. This house would be great too with a family with children.
We rented bikes and had a 20 minute bike ride every morning into Austin. Near the house is a great running trail along a (dry this March) river.
The area was very safe. We had some deliveries to the house and they were just left on the porch without any problem.
We also used the washing machine and dryer, very easy. The house was very clean.
All in all we would definitely recommend this house, and rent it again if we had the chance.
My husband and I live with our 3 little monsters, I mean adorable sons, in Austin, TX. We love our little hood... close to all-things-Austin, but tucked away by the greenbelt for a little bit of peace and nature. We love to hike the greenbelt with our pup, head to the beach for some surf, and are excited to start traveling the globe with our kiddos. We have rented our house out several times to friends-of-friends with rave reviews, but decided we would go 'official' and begin renting it through airbnb now. If you need any feedback from past renters, please let me know!
