A huge and airy space filled with art, the chapel easily sleeps eight and is the ideal venue to host a gathering of friends or family. Set in a picturesque Lincolnshire village, it has lovely walks and pubs nearby and access to historic Lincoln.
We are two artists and this is our home with our teenage daughter. Featured in the Jan 2014 issue of Psychologies Magazine and in the Saturday Times Magazine in 2013, we have lovingly converted it over 14 years and it offers an amazing huge airy space in which to host a relaxing break in the English countryside. It is full of interesting objects and has an atmosphere of bohemian shabby chic. There are three bedrooms: two with double beds, one with two single beds and there is a double sofa bed in the snug downstairs. There is one family bathroom with a shower and a downstairs loo. Downstairs is one large open space with a non fitted kitchen, including a double oven, a family sized fridge freezer, dishwasher and washing machine. There is full central heating and wi-fi throughout the building. There is on street parking outside the chapel. There is a walled courtyard outside. It is perfectly situated in the centre of the county making it an appealing venue to host a weekend with friends and family who are based in different parts of the UK.
Although in the centre of a charming limestone Lincolnshire village, it is only a 20 minute drive (10 miles) to Lincoln City where you can visit one of the most important Cathedrals in the UK, as well as Lincoln Castle that houses the Magna Carta. The annual Waddington RAF air show takes place during the summer and is just 5 miles away from our village. The Lincoln Christmas Market is also an important international annual event. Lincoln has a good museum and contemporary art gallery, The Collection, as well as theatres and lots of great restaurants and bars.
If you prefer a quieter time, the chapel is situated on the historic Viking Way, a world famous walking route, so there are walks that begin from the door, with stunning views across the landscape. There are two pubs in Wellingore and in the next village, a 15 minute walk away, there is an award winning bakery, restaurants, pubs and antique shops to explore, as well as 'Mrs Smith's Cottage', a small historic house open to the public during the summer months.
There is a regular bus service between the village and Lincoln with a direct train service from Lincoln to London, as well as other major cities.

We will meet and greet you when you arrive and show you around the chapel. We will then leave you the key to enjoy the place. Should you need any assistance, we are at the end of the phone during your stay.
We ask no pets and that smoking be limited to the outside garden.
Please close the upstairs windows when you leave the property, as if it rains damage is caused.
We ask visitors to be respectful of neighbours. Although noise is not a problem, please do not park in front of the neighbours drive.
Had a lovely stay in the chapel, nice big space. Plenty of room for our family of 4 adults and 4 children.
What a lovely home and living space. Very unique. Facilities were excellent and the hosts friendly and accommodating. Lovely little town.
We spent a wonderful 3 nights at the chapel over new year. It is a fantastic space, bright, airy and huge! We were 7 adults and a baby and felt there was plenty of space for everyone to spend time together and do their own thing. The chapel is well equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay. It is also surprisingly warm once the heating gets going!
The area is good for walking, we did one along the Viking Way in the snow, just beautiful!
Highly recommended, we hope we will be back!
We had a fantastic stay at Nicola's home over the Christmas period. With a 92 year old grandma and 8 month old baby, I had to get in touch a few times during the trip with questions but Nicola was incredibly accommodating and helpful. The village is picturesque, especially in the snow! The converted chapel is amazing - it's was incredibly inspiring to stay in such a creative space and with such an array of art, books and creativity. We felt right at home and the chapel was warm and comfortable. Nicola also left us bread, milk and bits which was much appreciated. Overall would absolutely stay again. Thank you Nicola!
What a wonderful space to stay in! Nicola was a great host and her beautiful home a pleasure to be in. Kids had a great time and there is plenty to keep you busy in the area. Highly recommend.
Nicola and her husband John were extremely hospitable. Nicola responded helpfully to queries very promptly before our visit, and John was at the house to welcome us, even though we were delayed and ended up arriving much later than expected. They left us fresh bread, fruit and plenty of clean towels. The house was as described and very well equipped. It was a lovely, sociable space for a long weekend with family.
Where do we begin about our wonderful experience here? John and Nicola were very helpful from the time we booked the home, to when we got there, all they way through our stay, and when we left. The photos shown are an excellent portrayal of the home, but the home and village are even more lovely and quaint than photos can portray and have to be experienced in person. With public transportation within a 3 minute walk of the home, food store and restaurants in the neighboring village of Navenby (15 minute walk), and the large city of Lincoln (30 minute bus ride), we had everything we wanted and needed for our excellent six week stay in England!
I am an illustrator and award winning graphic novelist. I am married to artist John Plowman and we live with our teenager daughter Sally (17). We originally moved from London to convert this former Methodist chapel and we love the space we have created. We divide our time between Brighton and Lincolnshire so we welcome you as guests in our chapel. It is not perfect, there are unfinished bits, but it offers the most unique and inspiring atmosphere.
We have stayed in a few air bnbs during the past few years and John and I aim to offer you the comfort and style that we have experienced from others.
