We have a studio (brick) cabin in Bishop, CA. It is tiny (15 x 25 ft) but has a full-sized bed, kitchen and bathroom. We are mostly on the road as musicians, so renting it helps cover our costs, and allows us to maintain a home, versus being homeless musicians! There is also a wooden 8 x 8 foot stage in the backyard where you could have a tent set up if you want more space. We are on the west side of Bishop, between town and the climbing and hiking access. The nightly rate is for 1 or 2 adults; it's a small cabin with 1 full sized bed. There is plenty of free parking. I can see people who are coming out to climb/camp/hike loving this place, if they want to know they'll have a dry place to sleep, a hot shower and a kitchen where they can make full meals--sure you could camp out, but you risk the weather, and campgrounds around her can get crowded and noisy. Here you'll have privacy, a full kitchen and bathroom, and still be out in nature. Also, it would work well as a base-camp for a hiking trip. We're as close as you can get to the Buttermilks and the trailheads (North lake, South Lake and Sabrina) and still be in Bishop. There are 6 other cabins on the property, but each cabin is a stand-alone house, so you'll have your privacy, and all the neighbors are super-great people who are artists, photographers, gardeners, musicians etc. We have a stunning view of Mt. Tom. You'll have to drive to our place since there isn't public transit nearby. The kitchen has standard appliances (stove/oven, fridge, microwave, coffee grinder & press), and we have plenty of dishes and cookware. Feel free to use our spices--we might have the largest spice collection in Bishop. We do have Wi-Fi. The bathroom has a shower (no tub--sorry, we soak in the nearby hot springs (5 rustic and 1 developed within 30 miles of the house)--we'll leave the hot spring book with directions on the desk). We have an evaporative cooler for the summer, and wall and space heaters for chilly winter nights. During the summer we have a big garden (if anything looks to be dying of thirst, feel free to water / weed / kill aphids etc). You're welcome to browse and pick herbs & ripe veggies for your cooking. Because we are often gone for multiple weeks, we can't do laundry between guests, so we ask people to use their own sheets & towels (there are blankets and pillows on the bed). Since we can't check the cabin between each guest, we ask you to leave the house as tidy as you found it, so another guest can use it after you, and let us know it's condition when you arrive.
We keep our calendar as up-to-date as possible for traveling musicians, thus if your inquiry is for a date more than 2 or 3 months away, we may not be able to confirm it, but we'll put down your name for that date, and as soon as we know that for sure the house is available, we'll get back to you.
Sharon's cabin was the perfect vacation spot for a week in the Bishop area. She was very helpful with super easy and quick communication. The cabin is so cozy, has the most comfortable bed, and all the amenities I needed. I would definitely stay here again!
It was a lovely little cabin - nice, quiet and next to the mountains. Didn't get a chance to meet Sharon - but she was amazing leaving behind instructions for every little detail. We had a really good time!
Cute cabin! Sharon was very responsive! Beautiful views in the morning!
Great location, WiFi, and little kitchen.
Wonderful little cabin with quite a story for a bed! I loved it. Perfect stop before going to Death Valley. Would live to come back to visit more hot springs in the area. Thank you!
A cute, homey, rustic adventure!
Best to arrive in daylight time to efficiently orient oneself to the location and the heating units.
Even though we did not meet the owners, we felt like we "knew" them by listening to their fun and relaxing music!
We loved their CDs and bought one for listening on our road trip.
The owners' photo made us feel like singing..."The Hills are alive with the sound of MUSIC"! Cheers!!
Cozy rustic cabin is exactly as billed. Sharon wasn't there physically, but she was available remotely and we had good communication. Nice bed with a story. Thanks, Sharon. Would like to come back and have a base camp for a bit longer span.
Sharon's place was exactly what I was looking for. Nice, quiet, and close the mountains.
While I was there Sharon was great with answering questions and ensuring my stay was great. I will stay there again next time I am in Bishop.
Staying at Sharon's cabin was like staying at a friend's house. It's a cozy little place just outside Bishop and near climbing and fishing locations, and beats camping by a mile. Personal touches like little notes and CDs from her band were so nice. I highly recommend this place.
What a very special place! Do not have any hesitation in booking Sharon's lovely cabin. My Dad unexpectedly passed away back home in Oregon during our stay, and Sharon and David's music was healing and beautiful during what was the start of my grieving those first few days. We bought both of their CD's and in enjoying them now, we listen and our brought back to the simple life there in Bishop and our days spent hiking the Alabama Hills finding all our favorite arches and hiking the Buttermilks. Truly perfect location and we felt right at home with all the little "heart" notes left by Sharon. Thank you so much for sharing your little retreat!
