The Space

Please make sure to check all three of my listings for availability.

This apartment is totally independent and not shared with anyone.

It is easier and faster to commute into the City from Union City than commuting from Brooklyn or Queens.

If you were to stay in the Bronx it would take you 40 min to get to Times Square. If you were to Stay in Brooklyn it would take you the same amount of time as subways in Brooklyn are not direct. If you were to stay in Manhattan you would not find a place as big as this one for this price.

The apartment is located in a safe neighborhood, close to shopping and restaurant area. The police station is located 4 blocks away.

It will take you 10 minutes to be directly in Times Square!!! in the comfort of a bus. Buses run 24/7 bus stop located a block away from 2 different location.

Pets are welcome.

  • This apartment was great! Stayed here with my parents, wife, and toddler and had plenty of space. The parking space was a huge help too. The apartment was clean and well kept. The owner lives in the same building too, which came in handy when our toddler locker herself into one of the rooms at night. The apartment is also steps from one of the main streets of union city, so there was a lot of food an culture nearby.

  • I've had a very good experience at Miyoko's house. The place is very spacious, very well maintained, and in immaculate condition. It is an inexpensive alternative to NYC conveniently located close the ferry terminal, and to the charming and messy Hispanic restaurants and grocery stores in Union City. Parking was not an issue, however you'll have to feed the parking meter during weekdays. Miyoko was always responsive to my texts before and after our stay. I'd would go again to her place on my next trip to NYC.

  • The place was nice and spacious. It was clean. The beds in the living room were already set up for our stay. They have pots, pans, drink ware, and eat ware. There was great communication with the owners as well as fast responses. They were very helpful. They do have basic cable. Overall great place!

  • The apartment is very spacious but it had a few issues. There were roaches in bathroom, lack of towels and wash clothes (owner did provide more), none of the towels or washcloths matched (at least 10 different colors), washcloths bleed color/dye when used (apparently inferior quality), one hand towel appeared to be soiled, some of the furniture was pretty old, the hot water was inconsistent, the heat was insufficient the first night (owner brought up a space heater), and new bed comforters are needed for two of the beds. The location is only 15 minutes from NYC. If you just need somewhere basic to stay, the apartment will work. It's very basic...

    Response from Miyoko:

I am really sorry about the roach situation and would have been more than happy to relocate Mr.Brown to one of my other properties, if I had been made aware of this problem before Mr. Brown checked out.
Roaches are unfortunately a real pest problem in our urban areas. We use the service a an exterminator on a monthly basis but when the time comes to re-treat or if the property just got treated they tend to come out.

On a more positive side your host was responsive to your needs and did address your towel needs and heat issues.

As for the color scheme of the towels and the decor of the apartment these are aesthetics we unfortunately cannot tailor to each visitor's specific tastes.
We are not a hotel and therefore cannot provide the perfection of a hotel service. This apartment is located in a private house and all house are imperfect (aka water pressure). We do provide a clean place, with the basics, towels, bed linen, (some places ask you to bring your own), free WIFI, basic cable, kitchen utensils and Free parking and overall have been responsive to your needs. 99% of the reviews for this apartment can vouch for that.

  • Once again our stay at your place was amazing. Plenty of space, clean linens, warm, large TV w/cable and internet. 2nd time staying in this unit and we will certainly be back.
Thanks Miyoko for being so responsive and providing great, clear instructions.
    Nicer than the pictures

  • My Parents had a wonderful time at Miyoko's apartment. They said it was spacious and very comfortable. They arrived early and were greeted with the key with no issues. The location was wonderful, close to bus and perfect for their commute to the Superbowl at MetLife Stadium. Also was a central location to NY/ Times Square. They would stay there again when coming back to New Jersey :). Thank you!

  • Miyoko and Raul were very helpful to work with. Miyoko seems to manage a number of airbnb properties in the area, and was very detailed in setting guest expectations and providing crucial information such as options for transportation into NYC, the cost of bus tickets, contact information for herself and Raul, etc. Raul met us at the apartment for check-in (he and his wife live on the first floor of the building, and the apartment is on the third), and very generously helped carry our luggage upstairs, then showed us around the place to make sure everything was to our satisfaction. We did not see him again during our stay, but there was a blizzard during the time we were there, and he must have shoveled and salted the outside stairs to our apartment, because they were spotless and safe by the time we came down to leave the apartment. Overall, the apartment was clean and functional, with a fully-equipped kitchen and separate bedrooms for all the guests, as well as a large common area.

We didn't find it as easy as we'd hoped to get into the city, but we also had a lot of materials to transport to and from the city (we were in town for an industry conference), which is different than just transporting oneself on a bus. Also, even though hypothetically it's true that at many times of day, it would only take 15 minutes to get into Times Square, the Lincoln Tunnel is actually a nightmare during a good chunk of hours during the day, the NJ Transit buses run irregularly after a certain time of night, and taxis to NJ from NYC are extremely expensive, as NYC cabbies charge you for both directions since they are not legally allowed to pick up passengers in NJ and also need to cover the Lincoln Tunnel toll ($13!). On the other hand, because we had to drive down to the city because of the amount of conference materials we were transporting, it was incredibly helpful to have a parking spot at the apartment, which would not have been nearly as easy in NYC itself.

  • Wow Miyoko, this space was even nicer than the first place you booked us. I thought the first time we stayed in your rental it couldn't get much better. Beds were very comfortable, cable worked well and the place was warm and comfy. Plenty of storage everywhere and parking...amazing...and so close to the city, it took me 7 minutes to drive to mid-town Manhattan for work.

Can't wait to come back next month.

  • What a perfect solution for a trip to New York. Only a quarter of an hour away from Manhattan. The apartment is well equiped and has all the facilities you need. The location is super. In a spanish suburb, with a lot of nice restaurants. Raul was our host and he was very nice. We had no problems whatsoever. We can recommend this apartment for several reasons. It's clean, good beds, the only issue we had, that is was very cold during our stay. So the bedding was not enough. Perhaps an issue to provide more blankets. Furthermore it was all we needed. Tea, coffee and sugar you don't have to buy, also cleaning products are available. We had a splendid time and when we come to New York again, we would defenitely stay at the apartment.
Miyoko give us good advice about taxi and bus rides. So it was more than OK. We had a wonderful time in New York.

  • Miyoko is very welcoming host. The neighborhood looks nice and safe. The apartment is close to buses and literally 15 min to Port Authority at Manhattan - pretty good location. There is a kitchen with everything you need to eat (forks, spoons, pans, oven, microwave, fridge, stove plus basic needs such as salt, pepper).
Bathroom is clean and has soap, towels.
Overall we had an enjoyable stay at Miyoko's apartment.
