About this listing
Great 3 bedroom house with a beautiful covered terrace, in the heart of medieval Puy L'eveque.
Uniquely situated a stones throw away from the river Lot (and the local bar). This 18 century stone house is fully renovated and occupies a great location in the vibrant village of Puy L'Eveque in the Lot department of South West France. There is no garden but there is a beautiful large covered terrace to drink wine on late into the evenings.
Great restaurants within walking distance, fabulous Chateaux's, producing some of the regions best wines, within cycling distance and the river on your doorstep, with a Canoe available if you are feeling energetic.
Puy L'Eveque is a quiet village but during the summer there is plenty going on, wine festivals, music festivals and the local artisen riverside market are just a few of the events to keep you occupied.
There are a number of great restaurants in the village, to fit all budgets, from the upmarket Hotel Bellevue to the local creperie. There are also a multitude of fabulous places to eat in many of the surrounding villages. Puy also has a bakers (nearest is 2 mins from the house), a butchers, a supermarket and the local market every Tuesday so there is no need to drive if you want to dump the car.
Puy is served by buses from Cahors, which can be accessed by train from Toulouse airport. You can also fly to Bergerac (Ryan Air and Flybe) and pick up a rental car. The drive to Puy is around an hour.
Puy offers the best of both worlds, a beautiful village with the amenities of a much larger town and the stunning vineyards and countryside of South West France on your doorstep.
Wifi, canoe, couple of bikes
Interaction with Guests
My family are around for emergencies, otherwise you're all on your own.
Amazing medieval architecture, great restaurants and outstanding vineyards. Great for walking, cycling and there is a local river beach just down the road.
There is a bus / train connection from Cahors to Puy L'eveque so if you wanted to ditch the car, you could. Otherwise cycling is the best way to explore the immediate area.
Other Things to Note
Boat trips, canoe hire available over the river, day and night markets in all the surrounding villages as well as Puy in the summer.
This is not a typical gite, it is used by our family on a regular basis so is full of home comforts which we're happy for you to use but please treat them as you would your own.
There is no smoking in the house but you can smoke on the terrace.
There is a canoe that you can use, which is fun on the river, but please use at your own risk and make sure it is cleaned and hung up again in the garage.
There is a cot in the smallest bedroom, if required then let me know and I can provide sheets and linen for it.
There is a house manual that has all the details of how everything in the house works.
