I had a very pleasant stay in Aurelie & Lars' appartment. The studio is spacious, well-fournished and very well-equiped (tv, phone, kitchen equipment, hairdrier, iron...). The location is great and at walking distance of Le Marais. Lars & Aurelie also left great food and visiting advice in a welcome book in the appartment, very much appreciated. Better than any hotel one could find in Paris for this price!
I liked this place so much that I've moved in just around the corner! I just moved to Paris and stayed at Aurelie's for a month while I was looking for an apartment. It made the perfect base -- fantastic neighbourhood with great bars and restaurants, and super close to the metro and Velib bike rental too. The apartment itself is of course not huge, but is perfectly equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Aurelie and Lars were full of great recommendations for the local area, and when there was a small problem with the boiler, Lars came over very promptly to take a look. I will definitely recommend that friends stay here when they come to visit. Thanks Aurelie and Lars!
There are pros and cons…
Pros: The apartment is modern and cute, it is located in a fun neighborhood with lots of neat bars and restaurants, and its literally across the street from the metro. Fast wifi is nice for uploading photos and planning your time in paris. Aurelie is very friendly and offered to help us with our bags up the many many stairs.
Cons: Aurelie requested an additional 40€ cleaning feel two days before our arrival. While this is burried in the listing description, it wasn't in the AirBnb confirmation so it felt like a bit of a bait and switch. The bathroom is SMALL, like really small, like a closet. your knees will be pressed against the wall while you use the toilet, if you don't have to sit sideways. The shower is tiny and you'll invariably get water on the floor of the bathroom when you shower no matter how careful you are. Its on the 5th Floor of a very tall building with no lift. The apartment smells like cigarettes, and is very warm with the windows closed, with the windows open the noise from the plaza below will keep you up till 2 or 3am.
I would like to give a few comments regarding Jared's review:
First, it is a non smocking apartment, and nobody, as far as I know, had ever smocked in it.
We installed a fan in the apartment in case it is getting to warm (that may only concern a few weeks of the year in Paris though ;-)
Regarding the bathroom, yes it is quite small but cannot be compared to a closet.
Finally, the 40€ are for the cleaning lady who is coming after each guest, to make sure the apartment is perfectly clean, they are mention in the description of the apartment.
Wir sind von unserem Gastgeber sehr freundlich und unkompliziert betreut worden. Die Wohnung liegt sehr schön an einem belebten Platz in einem neuen, aufstrebenden Quartier. Sie ist geschmackvoll eingerichtet.
Aurelie and Lars were wonderful hosts. We stayed in their charming apartment for a month and couldn't have been happier. There is a subway immediately outside for quick access into the heart of the city but the location is also walkable to some of the most desirable neighbourhoods. There is farmers market a few blocks away every Tuesday and Friday with everything you can need and although the kitchen is compact it has everything required for nights in. They also provided us with amazing restaurant suggestions nearby in addition to the ones in their booklet. The bathroom is small but that didn't bother me and there is no elevator but it helps work off the pastries you consumed that day!
Aurelie and Lars responded very quickly to my inquiry and were very accommodating with my arrival and departure times. I would highly recommend staying here especially if you want to see parts of Paris that often and unfortunately get missed when you stay in some of the more central areas. I would definitely stay here again on my next visit.
My husband and I stayed in the apartment 4 months this fall – it all went very smooth!! Cosy apartment, good location, a high-speed internet connection (which is rather rare in Paris..) – Aurelie and Lars are very lovely people; kind and helpful! The best surroundings for our stay.. - my warmest recommendations
