About this listing

Great house for families or for larger groups who want to stay together in the Highlands. Fully-equipped kitchen, large backyard deck, a piano and a finished basement. Our neighborhood is GREAT for walking/bus. We live car-free!

The space

Our 1925 two-story-plus-basement Dutch Colonial is located in the desirable Highlands-Douglass neighborhood, 3 quick blocks from Bardstown Road and a straight shot down Bardstown Road to downtown Louisville. We are in the Seneca Gardens area of the Highlands, half a mile to both Seneca and Cherokee Parks (great running neighborhood and park), and a short walk to grocery, post office, margaritas, sushi, farmers markets, and more. It's currently set up to sleep 8.

Though the listing price is for the entire home (we stay with family in town when our home is rented), please send an inquiry if you're interested in just a guest bedroom. We enjoy hosting and could probably work something out.

We hire a professional housecleaner for every booking. Keep in mind, however, that the house is almost 100 years old.

Perfect place for a Derby weekend. The house was adorable. Neighborhood was close to restaurants. Brigid and David were wonderful hosts.

We stayed at Brigid and David's house for a multi day bike race in Louisville. The closeness to Cherokee Park was perfect to train and walk (for the non bike riders). The neighbor was great and it was walking distance to many stores and restaurants. The house was charming, well equipped, and filled all our needs. The deck was perfect for morning coffee and after dinner relaxation.

Both the home and location were perfect for our Derby trip. Brigid and David were very accommodating in regards to our arrival time, and even left us with a bottle of Bourbon, snacks, and some beer! Would definitely stay here again.

Our stay in Louisville was perfect from all perspectives. Brigid and David's home in the Highlands gave us a great jumping off place for all that we wanted to see and experience. By staying in this unique neighborhood, we caught the flavor of Louisville and appreciated the variety of good restaurants in the area. We were especially appreciative of their kid friendly home. With access to plenty of toys, games and books, our two boys, age 3 and 5 had plenty to keep them entertained. Our home away from home for the interim was comfortable and all of our needs were met.

David and Brigid were great hosts. The eight of us enjoyed our stay and took advantage of the great weather out on the large deck. A very quaint and cozy home close to bars and restaurants. Enjoyed it.

This house was just exactly what we needed. We had a bourbon trail bachelor weekend and this was the best home base. 6 guys in our thirties all slept comfortably here. House is clean, and stocked with everything you need. Brigid was incredibly communicative and helpful. Couldn't have asked for a better experience.

This is our second time staying in Brigid & David's comfortable, perfectly organized and clean home! The beds are super comfy, the kitchen is well equipped, the living spaces are inviting and the back deck is perfect for enjoying Louisville's summer nights. Our favorite detail has to be the endless hot water. No one had a cold shower...and there were 5 of us getting ready each day! We also took advantage of the nearby restaurants and bars on Bardstown Road. We love it here!

Brigid And David User Profile

Brigid is a Louisville native; David is from West Texas. We've been married for 5 years and have a 4-year-old old boy and a baby whom we hope to send to college someday -- our AirBnB income goes directly into the boys' college fund.

We spent two years living in Scotland, where our oldest son was born, and we absolutely love travel. Now that we're back in Louisville (and not traveling as much), we've enjoyed meeting the people that AirBnB has led to us.

We love adventure, food, whisk[e]y, live music, libraries, castles, cobblestone paths, soccer, travel, flip-charts, historical markers, innovation, talks with good friends.... the list goes on.

David is a consultant in healthcare technology, and Brigid is a professional musician. This home is our primary residence, but we stay with nearby family while it is rented. We do not rent full-time, as it is a lot of work (and we love our neighbors and don't want to upset them!), but are always open to hosting people -- inquire if you are interested in staying in our home.

We are also open to renting out just the guest bedroom or basement room, rather than the entire home. Send an inquiry; we love hosting people.
