About This Listing
Flat in Via dei Cappellari, a little cobblestone road few yards from Campo de' Fiori, one of the nicest flower and grocery market during the day and home to the liveliest cafes and restaurants in the evening.
The flat is a recently converted bottega [craftsman workshop] designed by Italian architect to high specs. Layout is open plan with king size bed that can be separated into two single beds. Kitchen is open plan, with induction hobs, coffee machine and kettle. Bathroom has bathtub and marble top, and large mirror on the sliding door. Wireless and cable internet is available in the flat. There are no internal steps and it is accessible to people with limited mobility.
It is in a 16th century building in a cobblestone paved road, next to Campo de Fiori, the scenic square with a lively, daily grocery and flower market, and the magnificent Piazza Farnese, with the French Embassy.
In the centre of old Rome, someone could get the true essence of Rome just walking half a mile from the flat.
Other Things to Note
Very lively scene in the evenings and market action during the day.
Check-in from 2pm
Check-out before 10am
In case there are no other guests checking in/out the same day we may arrange differently
Late check-in fee (arrival after 8pm) € 30
We did not meet Angela but Maurizio was helpful. He showed up a bit late for check-in but it went smoothly otherwise.
We had not contact with Angela during our stay and limited with Maurizio. He helped to arrange our taxi to the airport (very helpful) and recommended some places to eat.
The listing is fairly accurate. Guests should note that "lively scene in the evenings" could read "very loud" outside the apartment at night/early morning. The apartment is quite damp/mouldy as written by a previous guest also, so it smells. It's also quite cool (we were there in May - hot outside but never warmed up inside) Unfortunately, the extra blanket smelled as well. This is all a trade off for the location.
The apartment is in a very central location. The daily market is great and it's so easy to walk to all the main attractions.
We visited Eataly (a bit off the beaten track), and asked Maurizio if we could walk, but he simply said it was too far and provided no alternative. We walked there in about 40 mins with little difficulty after doing some research. Some more information and help with our questions would have been nice, but this is not a requirement. Overall, communication was pretty good and response times were fast.
This felt a bit more like staying in a hostel with a private room and bathroom, but we had a decent stay overall. We didn't spend too much time in the apartment.
If you're thinking about staying here, I'd recommended considering the balance between having a great location vs. a great place to stay.
The apartment is great and very well located (we loved piazza campo de' Fiori).
Maurizio was our host and gave to us a lot of tips about Rome.
We spent there 6 nights and everything was perfect. The apartment is in ground floor and there are little noisy during the nights, but it wasn't a problem for us.
I recommend Angela's apartment!!!
I booked this apartment for my relatives, who joined us for a trip to Rome. We thought that the place looked clean and matched our expectations. I was a bit surprised to learn that the flat is on a ground floor, facing the street, but according to my relatives the noise wasn't too bad. Other than that, the flat was clean and tidy and had everything we needed. We loved the location as we could walk everywhere from the flat and had plenty of shops and restaurants nearby. Check-in and -out was smooth too.
The best holidays ever! Thanks Angela for everything. The flat is in a center of the city and you can go anywhere walking. The bad point was the noise but we could stand it! :)
I'll keep this option to stay in when I come back to Italia.
Angela is a nice anfitrion without doubts.
This apartment has one of the best locations in Rome. We stayed there for 5 nights, and we went around the city without the need for public transportation.
The apartment is nice and clean, and have the things that are necessary for a good stay.
Angela and Ricardo was very helpful and easy to contact both before and during the stay.
The only negative about the apartment is that there is much noise from the street. (not cars but party-goers in the evening and at night) - so remember a pair of earplugs.
Thank you for a wonderful stay.
Angela was responsive and helpful through the booking process, and Ricardo was terrific with the airport pickup and check-in. However, huge caveat/problem with the apartment: it is extremely mildewy and moldy. If you have allergies or asthma, do not stay here. I wish another reviewer had more strongly made this point before I booked. Also, while centrally located, the apartment is just off Campo de Fiori, which is an extremely happening stretch of nightlife; the apartment is very noisy with people passing at all hours.
About the Host, Angela
100% Roman now living abroad. I loved living in my flat at Via dei Cappellari. It is like living in a small community, you know all the neighbours. I loved that community feeling that is mainly lost in big cities. I hope my guests will love the place as much as I did.
