Apartment - Entire home/apt · Mildmay Park, London, N1 4PR, United Kingdom

The Space

Highly convenient, centrally located and newly refurbished, (Modern fixtures and fittings) private studio flatlet in a Victorian terrace house, in Islington, its own street entrance, en suite shower and private kitchenette. Buses right on your doorstep, and 7 mins from Canonbury Station on the tube network.

We have created a fully self contained studio flatlet in the lower ground/basement floor in a locally listed Victorian terrace, virtually on Newington Green. As Architects we have paid attention to the detail, and provide clean, modern spaces.

The flatlet is in excellent condition, having been newly refurbished. The room overlooks a small lightwell onto the street which is accessed via a cast iron metal winding staircase.

You have your own access from the street, and own private outside entrance area. There is a separate kitchenette, with facilities for light cooking. The kitchenette is an old converted coal vault, so has a low ceiling in places.

Please note that the layout might not suit all, as you access the kitchenette either through the shower room or from the outside lightwell. However the shower is spacious and comfortable makes up for this inconvenience.

It is only a 7 min walk from Canonbury Station, or 15-20min to Highbury Islington Tube station. There is an excellant bus service right on your doorstep including 141, 21 to City of London (which only takes 15-20mins bus ride) and 341 or 73 or 476 to Kings Cross (30-40min bus ride), Euston and West End. At the botttom of Mildmay Park you can catch the 38 which gets you to Piccadilly in 45mins. Dalston station is a 10 min walk.

  • Beautiful studio in an excellent location, exactly as described if not even better! I stayed for the month of December and felt very at home, much nicer and better quality then a hotel I actually felt very sad when it was time to leave. If you are going to London you simply must stay here! Andrea & Mark are great hosts and even left lots of lovely biscuits, cereal, tea etc everything you could need and more. I can't speak highly enough of this property or the hosts - perfect.

  • This was my first Airbnb experience and I cannot imagine I could have had a better one.

Andrea and Mark's flatlet is in a very nice and extremely convenient area in N2 London and Mark gave me an enthusiastic, insightful and helpful welcome and introduction to the area. The place is totally clean, beautiful and comfy and I felt at home immediately. They had also left out breakfast cereals, tea/coffee, milk, fruit and a gorgeous vase of ornamental cabbage which I thought was a really sweet hospitable touch. As a single traveller, I also liked that their flat is right above mine especially as I tend to get back late at night.

I can't say enough good things about this flatlet and the hosts and highly recommend it and would certainly go back the next time I'm in London.

Thanks so much Andrea and Mark!

  • This was my first airbnb booking/experience and it exceed all my expectations. What makes airbnb great are the hosts they connect you with. I regret not getting a picture together with Mark and Andrea. They are amazing hosts...passionate for their guests and accommodating beyond words. Here are the basics, the accommodation is exactly as shown and more. The bed is super comfortable. The flat is super could eat off the is private and charming and a super location. Pub a few doors down...eateries, coffee shops, bakeries, restaurants, amazing transportation, short walk to the underground and more. Most hotels I stay in are not nearly as clean or as well equipped as this flat. Mark and Andrea have maps, books, games, transit/Oyster card and everything you will ever need. The kitchen was stocked...water, milk and tea and cereal and more, watch your head when entering the kitchen...the passage is a bit low and concreate! Yes, I banged my head while not paying attention! Thanks you so much for taking such great care of me and all your first ever visit to London! Thank you for a wonderful experience, I look forward to returning to your flat again. It will be my first choice of places to stay in London. Best regards, Peter

  • Mark and Andrea have justly earned a string of rave reviews for their splendid studio apartment and their efforts to make guests welcome and comfortable They epitomize the ideal and the ethic of AIRBNB -- great digs, thoughtful hosts, many extras touches of comfort, a willingness to assist when help is needed -- all at a very fair rental. Knowing of our wedding anniversary, they welcomed us with a box of treats from a local bakery. Nice touch!Great bus and rail connections and a happening Islington neighborhood with several fine ethnic restaurants within 5-10 minutes walk. Have Mark steer you to a smoky Turkish grill with heaping platters to satisfy the hungriest carnivore. It was like a mini-trip to Istanbul.

  • A wonderful & cozy apartment and what wonderful people! Mark gave me some really good tips on the neighborhood and on theatres in the area. Strongly recommended!

  • As a lone traveller Mark and Andrea's lovely flat was a perfect base for a two week business/ pleasure stay in London.
The flat was clean & modern, well equipped, comfortable and warm.
Should you wish to be out of the main tourist areas, but still within easy reach this is a fantastic location due to excellent bus and train routes. The area was vibrant & interesting and it was lovely to explore a part of London I didn't know, the host's knowledge and recommendations made me feel quite at home.
My highlight's were Bel Epoque the little french patisserie and I loved Stoke Newington Church Street.
    Thanks Mark and Andrea

  • Fantastic stay! We found this to be a great base for our week in London. The area is quiet with a picturesque village green, but has a good range of amenities and provides easy access to central London via train and bus. Islington, Stoke Newington, Dalston and Hackney are all within walking distance.

The flat itself is beautifully renovated and was spotlessly clean. Mark was very welcoming and gave us a lot of useful advice about the immediate area and transport options. To top it all off, the kitchen was stocked with tea, cereals and fruit.

  • I had an excellent 9 day stay in this lovely apartment. It's in such a lovely location two doors from Newington Green, with great access to a range of restaurants, cafes and any other shops you might need. I was met by Mark, who was very welcoming and provided some great information and local tips - he even lent me an Oyster card! Transport is so easy and close by, particularly for buses. I was surprised and delighted to have a range of cereals, milk, orange juice, mineral water, tea, coffee and even chocolates left for me by my hosts - a nice touch. Very comfortable bed and a stylish, quiet and comfortable place I could highly recommend.

  • Highly recommended! It's a nice location and a lovely and comfortable little private self-contained flat, well equipped with everything you need on arrival. The internet connection is good (for those for whom that matters). Mark and Andrea were very warm and welcoming, even at a very busy time, and then also gave plenty of privacy afterwards. It's not the cheapest place in Islington, it's true, but I think more than worth it. I would certainly stay there again if it were available.

We are Architects, working and living in London. We have spent many years restoring our historic, locally listed home on Newington Green, which used to be a well known Swedish Restaurant called Anna's Place. Still listed in the rough guide as a place to visit. We enjoy meeting people from all over the world, and thoroughly enjoy hosting on Airbnb, which has been a positive experience all round.
