My girlfriend and I stayed at this apartment for a month and a half and for the entire duration we were treated to Mitsuyo's incomparable hospitality. Having lived in Japan previously, I'm familiar with the many mini-bureaucracies of living in Tokyo, and can attest to Mitsuyo's selfless accommodation of any problems or questions that could arise--an unparalleled host.
The apartment itself is a recently constructed unit quite typical of Tokyo and outfitted with many increasingly standard conveniences (water heater timer, washer/dryer, timed fans, etc). The advantages of the apartment are many, but there are two that deserve pointing out. Firstly, for those unfamiliar with Tokyo, an initial glimpse of this apartment on a map may make it seem like it is distant or unaccessible from the more "central" areas of the city. This couldn't be more untrue! Being near Shinkoiwa station, you have access to the JR Chuo line as well as the express Yokosuka line which can take you directly to and from Narita airport, Yokohama, and Tokyo station. With all of these available connections, the apartment is in fact very well positioned for the new Tokyo-ite eager to explore the city. Another element of the apartment that may not be immediately legible via the AirBnB posting is the surrounding neighborhood--a quiet tree-lined street featuring a pleasant "wellness road" that includes a stream, sculptures and a wonderful assortment of plants. If one plans to spend time in the more bustling areas of the city, returning to the the quiet sounds of the "wellness road" at the end of the is a welcomed respite.
Thank you for your quite description about the good feature of this apartment. I'm really impressed that you could describe very well on the points that I hardly write in English. Thank you so much for having fun and having the similar feeling like locals. I love this area too and hope you could come back again when you stay in Tokyo:)!
Mitsuyo's apartment was everything we could have ever asked for. It is clean, reasonably priced, modern and very well furnished which makes it a very cosy little place to rest and recharge in.
As mentioned in the listing, the apartment is located in a peaceful and tranquil neighborhood (the kind that you would want to retire in) with a small stream running through it. I assume it would be very scenic during the cherry blossom season. It was perfect for us as we were looking for a place that wasn't close to hustle and bustle of the city centre. The apartment also conveniently located, just a 10 minute walk to the nearest train station, with convenience stores (Lawsons), a supermarket (Seiyu) and various eating establishments around it.
On the day that we arrived, we didn't find the pocket wifi router that we requested. However, after messaging Mitsuyo about it, she immediately sent someone to the house to deliver it, despite being on holiday herself halfway around the world! She was willing to go the extra mile for her guests which was testament to her helpful attitude and how seriously she takes hosting.
Communication with Mitsuyo was not an issue as she spoke perfect English. She sent us detailed instructions before we arrived which made rather easy for us to find her place. She also pointed out this bakery near the apartment, of which many other reviewers have also recommended. Believe the hype, it's true! That place deserves its own UNESCO heritage award. That bakery was what we had every morning and what we looked forward to for breakfast every morning.
My partner and I stayed for a total of 8 nights and we couldn't have asked for a better host than Mitsuyo. We will definitely be staying here again on our next trip!
The room was comfortable, and the nearby bakery that Mitsuyo recommended was really good. The neighbourhood was rather safe - even though it got dark pretty quickly there were a lot of people around and they were either getting home from work or going for a run.
Mitsuyo also sent rather detailed instructions on how to get around before we arrived, which made things easier for us. She also gave prompt replies whenever we had questions, both before and during our stay. We did not meet Mitsuyo at all, but her mother, whom we met while checking out, was very nice.
Mitsuyo's apartment is very convenient for a stay in Tokyo. The apartment is an easy est 800 m from the Shinkoiwa station which is on the line through akihabara onto Shinjuku station.
The local area is very quiet with a nice outlook. We were looking for something close to the city but without the city noise and vibe. This was perfect.
The apartment is small - like most in Japan - but very well set up and comfortable. We liked having the kitchen, laundry and bathroom.
Mitsuyo was also a great host. She met us at the train station and helped us find the apartment for the first time. Brilliant service.
Peaceful Studio: was all of that and more. We were lucky enough to be there during the cherry blossoms and the Peaceful Studio has to be on of the best places in Tokyo to watch them from. One of my wife and I favorite parts of the trip was sitting taking breakfast in the window and watching Tokyo go by in the morning.
But what really made our first experience with Airbnb amazing was Mitsuyo. She was helpful beyond belief. She email us multiple times before our trip to help out with details and questions we had for our 12 day stay at her place. Because of our late arrival she even set up a taxi to her house for us. I am not sure what we would have done without her. As or the apartment is very clean and well organized, with everything being labeled in English. It location alone a beautiful green belt is hard to beat in Tokyo. And it was simply amazing during Cherry blossom time. I can not imagine a better location during that time.
The bakery two blocks away was incredible. It was not that far from Shin-koiwa JR station which gave us access to metro. From Shin-koiwa to the Edo Museum was only 10 minutes or so. This Peaceful Studio is easy to access from Narita airport and there is a direct line from Narita to the Shin-koiwa JR station. My favorite meal in Tokyo was at a little noodle house that is right under the train overpass at Shin-koiwa station a great place to stop on your way home after a hard day of sightseeing.
Once again I want to thank Mitsuyo for really helping to make our transition to Tokyo so easy. She was unbelievable!
Mitsuyo was an excellent host! Fun and exciting. She goes above and beyond the expectation for her guests. When we stayed with Mitsuyo, she made the effort to ensure that our needs were met, and was very helpful with budgeting our time accordingly with the train times and how to get around using the local metro.
Her place was very cozy, making it a very comfortable stay for the 2 nights we were there. Everything was labelled accordingly from where to place the recycling and garbage, to where we were able to find items in and around the house.

About the Host, Mitsuyo
Hello! Welcome to my new condo! I was born in Tokyo and never lived abroad. In 2012 when I traveled 4 months in Europe, I imagined that I could support something for travelers to Japan, that was the first trigger to start hosting through Airbnb since Sept. 2012.
My ideal style is to make spaces for people in relaxed, cosy, friendly, harmonized and sophisticated atmosphere. Hope you engage in my new condo and enhance my hospitality!
I'm supporting overseas travelers and connect people to culture, between two different congregate roots.
The reason why I started Airbnb in September 2012 was that I really wanted to share the nice building of my apartment with other members as I really noticed "I LOVE MY HOUSE". In the end, it was true. The joyful people who are coming to my place really love my place and have both entertained and precious time because I love my house, too!
I'm really honored to host people who are coincidentally scheduled to come all the way from Europe, America, Australia and other western and Asian counties, beyond the scale of my own private family and friends.
This is the end of the story that I come back from a round trip to Europe in 2012, I noticed good aspects laid in both Europe and Japan, and I rebuilt my perspective to my own country. I really appraised Japan's total value very high.
One important request from my side is please just take a careful support to my house as I respect my place. The (paper) walls and (soft wood paper) floors are very easily scratched and detracted, and it's quite a lot to be incurred even for a small damage made after you leave. Again, please make sure you pay attention to them more than hotels.
Have fun and a relaxed stay!
