The Space

Environment :
Set in a private villa compound 5 minute drive from the central Ubud, surrounded by beautiful rice fields and gorgeous jungle view in a very quiet environment. Just 3 minute drive to the house where Julia Roberts lived in Eat Pray Love. There are 5 international restaurants in 10 min walking distance (Thai, Japanese, Indonesian, organic, Pork Rib BBQ)

Villa :
540㎡ of land size and 150㎡ of building size. 2 large bedroom villa on flat floor with a large swimming pool. Each room has on-suite outdoor shower rooms. A large and fresh outdoor living room provides space for relaxation. The kitchen is well equipped with all you need. All the dishes and kitchenware are popular Jenggala keramik brand. For breakfast, just 3 minute nice walking in the beautiful rice fields will take you to a famous "Sugar Restaurant Villa" which serves fantastic breakfast menu, where you can choose among Western and Indonesian cuisines for reasonable price. As a villa produced by a Japanese owner, we wanted to infuse a little bit of Japanese taste, Japanese ZEN garden was built by a famous gardener from Kyoto, Japan. You encounter this after opening the entrance door.

Equipment & Service :
The villa is equipped with modern conveniences like fastest possible Wi-Fi (2Mbps) in Bali, 42 inch TV and international cable TV (58ch), DVD with many selected movies, and enough power outlets to charge your devices. Toilets are TOTO shower-toilet type. We can also help you to rent motorbikes, cars, drivers, adventure tours, massage... at reasonable rates so that you don't have to deal with bargaining and struggling to get the best rates. We do not take any profit from such arrangements. Let us take all the stress away for reasonable price so you can just relax and enjoy everything that Bali has to offer. Please let us know if you'd like us to arrange an airport pickup for you in Denpasar. We are happy to pick you up!

- 42 inch LG flat TV (cable TV 58ch)
- DVD (movies 30 titles)
- Air conditioner x 2 (in each bed room)
- Automatic washing machine (8kg)
- iron and ironing board
- TOTO shower toilet x 2
- juice mixer
- microwave and toaster
- USB stereo
- a local handy phone for emergency use

Security :
Jempiring is a villa compound, and this villa is one of four villas in the 1,500㎡ site. .The number of burglarious entrances is increasing year by year in Bali, where a house built alone in rice fields tend to become a target. Besides, at the villa compound, a night security is stationed from 9PM-5AM 365 days, while five security cameras were installed in the site. Nevertheless, we recommend you use a strongbox installed in a bed room for your valuables. We try our best to make sure our customers stay safely in the villa.

Staff :
A friendly Balinese caretaker, Ketut, who lives nearby the villa will take care of anything you need. He speaks decent English. To protect your privacy, he does not stay with you 24 hours, but will come to you from his home as soon as you call him. The villa is cleaned up from 10am-noon everyday, except for the days of Balinese ceremony. In the daytime a gardener comes and works in the villa for gardening. In the night, a security man stays in a separate security house from 9pm-5am. Even thought there are many villas that change bed sheets only every 2 day, but we do it everyday.

Airport pick-up:
If you need airport pick up, we can arrange a car (Denpasar-the Villa, or vice versa) for 300,000 rupia, which is about USD 27. Please pay it to the driver directly. For any transport request, please talk to Ketut, our staff. He will help you find a good way.

Last but not least. The owner's policy is......
"We provide our customers fully with Balinese atmosphere, but with cleanliness based on Japanese standard ! "

Interaction with Guests

The owner lives in Sanur, 40 min ride from Ubud. The owner comes to the villa 2-3 times a week to check the conditions of the villa.

  • We really enjoyed the ambience of Yoshi's place. The set up is simple on a Japanese wabi-sabi (beauty in simplicity) style. Although there are a few places around for breakfast (e.g sugar villas - turn left at top of driveway & 3 mins walk on right) - and you can get deliveries (can recommend warung one) it is a good 5-6 mins drive to the main road through town and further to get to main areas. However Made (driver) can arrange transport anytime as well as to anywhere else in Bali - great guy!
So be prepared to be a little isolated but in a lovely areas with nice walking/riding country. Pool is Devine - also loved filtered water cooler, washing machine, fridge - all great quality. Enjoy

  • We came here for our honeymoon and needed a quiet place to relax. Yoshi was quick in responses. He organized our airport pickup and his caretaker (Ketuh) was waiting for us even our flight was delayed. After we arrived, Ketuh gave us a cellphone to use during our stay, which was helpful with taxi driver and reservation. Ketuh even helped us with our cooking class reservation and arrange massages inside the villa (about $20 an hour!). He offered to help us to book our transportation to Gili Island/Lombok. I wish I met Ketuh ahead of time, because Ketuh told me he could have helped me with a much cheaper price on the transportation! Ketuh always welcome us with a smile.

The villa is only 5 mins taxi ride away from Ubud center, or 35-40 mins walk. While we were staying in the villa, it felt like home away from home, and everyday we can fresh clean towels from Ketuh. The swimming pool is super clean. The villa has a washer and a water dispenser, which was helpful and saved us trips to the supermarket. The design of the house welcomes you to just sit and relax.

Food options around the villa: There is a Sugar Villa and Secret Cafe that is only 5-10 mins walk away from the Villa. Sugar Villa was perfect for breakfast (only $4.5 for a set breakfast)! Secret Cafe is a Japanese restaurant that overlook at the rice fields.

    We will be back!!

  • Our stay in private villa was very relaxable.
Villa is located very quiet area but just 5mints by taxi from the center and few minits to go the restaurant by walk that you can eat 3 meals.
Both of 2beds rooms are big enough, clean swimming pool.
What we liked most was stuffs of villa. Garden care staff were very polite
Mr ketut who take care of villa was very helpful. He even speaks Japanese.
taxi driver Mr Made was wonderful.
If you need massage, ask to ketut. He will send you to villa good therapist.(she is one of best therapist I had before)

If you are 3-4people and quite stay, I strongly recommend this private villa.

  • My girlfriend and I had an amazing time staying here for two nights in May of 2014. Yoshi, Ketut, and Made were all very easy to communicate and work with and the unit was just as lovely as the professional photographs in the listing.

While Ubud is filled with tons of cool activities, our favorite thing to do was to grab a bottle of wine at the local grocery (Delta Dewata) and lay out by the private pool and stare at all the stars while sipping away (pretty cool because you see a separate set of constellations in the Southern Hemisphere).

We spent the remainder of our trip in a resort in Nusa Dua, but my girlfriend and I both agreed that Yoshi's villa was definitely an order of magnitude better. You get the feeling that you're away from all the noise but also get an injection of culture. It's also nice to know that if you need anything, a driver is just a phone call away. Thanks Yoshi for an unbelievable trip!

  • Once we were booked the communication with Yoshi was excellent and he sent me a map that made it very easy for us to find the place. We were greeted by Ketut who gave us a very friendly and helpful welcome.

Both bedrooms were very comfortable and clean and the garden type bathrooms were a nice addition. We loved the pool and the open air living area.

The only downside was that the wifi wasn't working when we were staying there but this was due to the local provider and it being a weekend but these things sometimes happen in Indonesia.

    Would definitely stay here again.

    Response from Yoshi:

Thanks, Mike, for your nice review! If you travel to Bali again, please come back to us!!

  • Right from the outset Yoshi was a friendly and reliable host. He replied quickly to emails and gave very clear instructions regarding arrival at the villa and even organising a lovely driver to collect us from the airport.
The villa was paradise. Just far enough away from the hubbub of Ubud yet only a quick drive to food, shops and adventures.
The pool was lovely and long - the kids spent 70% of our stay in that pool.
Ketut, the caretaker, is one of the loveliest people we met in Bali (and that's saying something because there are some incredibly welcoming people there). He answered all our questions and helped us to organise activities.
This may sound mundane but having a washing machine was REALLY useful and also the fresh water cooler meant we didn't need to buy bottled water all the time.
The bedrooms were large and it was actually really great having outdoor bathrooms.
I would love to come back here one day!
Thank you for a perfect 5 days!

    Response from Yoshi:

Hi Tessa, I happened to witness one one of your families offered a glass of water to a local woman working in the rice fields. She's actually my landlord, and she was so impressed with the kind offer. You guys brought me happiness. Thank you, please come back!

  • The communication with Yoshi was smooth. I never felt nervous about booking his villa and Ketut, his villa manager on.site was the most charming and accommodating person. The villa itself is a 5-minute drive up the hill from Ubud's main road and prove to be the perfect location for us. Design and furnishings as promised. Pool large enough to swim, which is not the case in many other villas. Will book again - Arigato and terima kasih to the host!

Back in Japan as a no-nonsense Tokyo salary-man, I never dreamed to be a villa owner in Ubud, the MOST BEAUTIFUL VILLAGE in the world, but now I am! I was born in Yokohama in 1972, studied commerce at Yokohama City University. I also studied at James Madison University in Virginia for one year, and graduate study in Stuttgart Germany. I can tell you that Bali and Germany are two extremes in many cultural aspects..... It's nice to know both. Every Sunday I play baseball in Jimbaran with the other baseball freaks on this island. No baseball no life. I am a dog lover and brought a 2 year-old female toy poodle from Japan. Local people in Ubud ask me if it's a cat or dog. It's definitely a dog, amigo. No dog no life. We lived in Ubud for 1.5 years, but recently moved to Sanur, South Bali on the beach side, due to our kids' schooling. Yes, it's nice to live near the beach, but for me Ubud remains as the best place on this island. Ubud is second to none!
