Spent the summer here with Sam and Andrew. These guys are easily the most standup hosts I've stayed with.
The place is kept very clean. The room is no frills, and the kitchen and bathrooms are new and nice.
Light sleepers will definitely want earplugs if keeping the windows open in the summer---after all, this room is right off a main thoroughfare. In cooler months, it's likely fine to leave the windows closed.
I recently moved to SF from out of town. Was interested in staying in a temporary location, meet some new people, while finding a more permanent.
Overall, I was very happy with my stay. Met a number of flatmates, who both went out for drinks and meals every so often. Location is GREAT. Location is very walkable. Many restaurants, bars, cafes in the immediate area. The host does not live in this location. There are a total of 5 rooms that may be rented out, with three bathrooms, and a professional style kitchen. Cleaning lady comes every 5 or so days. Leads to no one doing any dishes.
Biggest qualm was locks changed total of 3 times in one month. Some sort of legal battle going on with owner. Was not given a heads up on any of the occasions, so when coming back to the flat couldn't get in and had to contact host, who immediately helped out. The host owners a liquor store nearby, and either he or one of his employees will bring over anything for the house (tp, papertowels, soap, etc). I enjoyed my stay, but for what it was. Little pricey in the end for what you get out of it, but I guess that's just SF.
Overall, this is a very good place to stay. The location and neighborhood are among my favorite in SF. Its a breeze to get downtown, and most other places in the city as well.
Sam is a very nice guy, and is very accommodating.
There are a few things I did have an issue with though. While pictures of the kitchen are accurate insofar as that they depict the actual kitchen, they dont show the typical state of the kitchen. Most of the time, its full of dirty dishes and trash. The fridge has tons of old food it in, much of it from people who had stayed previously.
The bathrooms are kind of similar as well, with one shower being out of commission for maybe 2/3 of the time I was there, and tons of toiletries from previous travelers.
Little of this has anything to directly do with Sam, as he doesn't stay at the location, and wouldn't know what food items/toiletries belong to people who have moved out either.
I'm not sure how I'd improve this situation, aside from instituting some sort of bi-weekly clean up where everyone gets together and claims their items, and the rest get thrown out.
Overall, I'd stay here again, as at the end of the day, most of this stuff isn't deal-breaking.
I enjoyed my stay at this place. The location is great, very convenient for eating out and going to any place in SF. My roommates were a fun bunch of people which made the stay very pleasant. The living room can be a bit unclean at times, which is the only negative that I can think of.
Oh, and finding a parking spot on the street in this neighhourhood is really difficult.
Overall, it was an enjoyable stay. Sam was very flexible about my timing needs and let me stay an extra day so things could work out with my ride.
