About this listing
After one full year hosting visitors to Louisville through AirBnB, we've decided to open up a second room for guests!
The "Kentucky Room" (this listing) shares a Jack-and-Jill style bathroom with our "Blue Room." Parties larger than two guests are welcome to book both rooms when available.
Our home is close to many Louisville attractions and conveniences:
- 2.4 miles to SDF airport
- 1.9 miles to historic Churchill Downs (Kentucky Derby)
- 3 miles to Downtown Louisville
- 2.8 miles to Bardstown Road (shopping and restaurants)
- 4.5 miles to the new and exciting East Market Street (also called NuLu: shopping, restaurants, art galleries)
- 0.2 miles to the bus stop
Within walking/biking distance of our home are gourmet coffee shops, hip bars, and good restaurants. We're foodies and we'll be happy to give you plenty of recommendations.
We love animals and we hope you do too! We have two friendly indoor cats, and six backyard chickens that provide us with fresh eggs daily --you are welcome to partake! During the summer, you're also welcome to share produce from our vegetable and herb gardens.
We decided to be hosts after using Airbnb to travel to Montreal, Vermont, Atlanta, and Chicago. We loved the experience of meeting new people and getting insider recommendations on places to visit and eat. Our adopted hometown of Louisville is a truly unique place, and we'd love to share all it has to offer.
Send us a message about special weekly and monthly rates. We would be happy to work something out with you.
-We treat all our guests with the utmost respect and courtesy, and we ask the same from you for ourselves, our home, and our animals.
-Please don't let the cat out under any circumstances (she will try and persuade you).
-Smoking allowed on back deck only.
-Omnivores are welcome to use our kitchen to prepare/store deli and leftover meat products, but please no raw meat in the house.
Cutest little house I've stayed at yet! It was quaint, full of details, and just felt like it was full of life and well lived in. We didn't get to check out the garden or the chickens, but the fact that they were a part of the house just made it feel like we were back at our own home 600 miles away (we have chickens and a garden as well.)
Mark and Kristen's home was extremely comfortable and in a great area of town. I was only there for a short while, but I felt very comfortable, and they are great hosts - both attentive and also respectful of privacy. I will definitely recommend them to people I know traveling to KY.
Perfection! I felt so at home here! Mark was friendly and gave us recommendations for local eats and coffee - all within walking distance. Their home is adorable. I would definitely recommend this listing!
Had a very nice conversation with Mark when I first arrived about what to do and see in the Louisville area. A very nice charming home with one very friendly cat and one much shyer one. I thought the accommodations were lovely. The bed comfortable and the house clean. I was happy to stay there without someone in the other room, however. They were not home very often and I felt trusted in their space. Overall a very laid back and not overly friendly host.
They have chickens and they are all named Betty!!! We only stayed for one night, after checking out some of the bourbon distilleries in the area, still, we felt welcome and comfortable. Mark is a great host and the house is quirky and cool. Totally recommend!
Mark was a great host. Good communication about our arrival. Our stay was brief, but the house was cute and the room was clean. There were so many nice little touches like the chocolate next to the bed and the personal coffee maker. If you're a light sleeper, you may want to think about the proximity to the airport and the shared bathroom with the room next door that may also be hosting guests. Otherwise would definitely recommend this place if you're in the area!
Mark was quick to respond to my day-of request to stay with him and Kristen. There home is very sweetly decorated with vintage decor and is clean and comfortable. Their urban farmhouse was the perfect place to stay. Their colony of bees and chickens (all names "Betty") were very cool as well. I would definitely stay with them again if I find myself in Louisville. Thanks guys! Xx
