Four of us in our group enjoyed our stay at Gail and Danny. The house was comfortable and clean with all the amenities that we needed. Basic breakfast and coffee were provided which was a huge plus! Gail and Danny lived with us for the first two weeks and was frequently checking in with us to make sure our stay is comfortable. Downtown Silver Spring was only 15-20 min walk away.

Response from Gail:
So glad everything worked out, we love being able to get away from the cold and leave the house for others to enjoy. It's nice you had some warm weather, too. I hope you got to see some D.C. sights.

we were a party of three, each in their own private room. We stayed there for a month, to attend the AIRP course (which is a 25minute walk). The neighbourhood is very safe and quiet and the house just beautiful. Gail and Danny made us feel at home, giving us all the conditions we needed for a month. When they were home (half of the month) they provided breakfast. They would eat dinner after or before we had ours. they were very nice and it was a pleasure talking to them. Bicycles were available. The other half of the month, they were on vacation, and trusted the house to us. All in all, I definitely recommend AIRP attendees to stay here, although keep in mind that it is a bit far away (especially in the scorching heat of august) - we walked all the time, but you can go by bus or bike.

Thank you for your complementary review, Daniel. Come back in cooler weather. I hope you enjoyed NYC, too!

The one month-experience in Gail and Danny's home was really good. Better than expected: the house is big, cute, cosy, cleaned and you have everything you need. They are always trying to help you and are so respectful, even their cats are...! =) If you are a Radiologist who is going to attend the AIRP course, this will be the perfect place to stay. We (me and my other two colleagues attended that course and It was really good having our home near to it, but in a walkable distance, around 15-20 min). The house is also near the metro station, so it is very easy to be in the center of Washington in around 30 minutes by metro. The neighbourhood is very calm, the only noise you may hear is the birds singing in the morning in the huge house' garden, which is amazing. It is the perfect place and with very good people to enjoy Washington!!.

I stayed at this house for a month in order to attend a medical course (AIRP). The house is located about a mile away from AFI Silver theater, so about 20 minutes by foot (give or take a few minutes depending how fast you walk). This was very convenient since a hotel would be much more expensive. The house itself is nice with all the amenities you would need, including kitchen, laundry, bathroom with certain toiletries, WiFi, and desks in each bedroom. Everything was clean. The surrounding neighborhood is nice; I met a few of the neighbors who were friendly. The streets are well-lit and I never had any concerns about safety. The nearest metro station (Red Line) is about 20-25 minutes away by foot. Typically, Danny and Gail are around to make sure you have everything you need. My stay was atypical in that they were gone for about 3 weeks, but this worked out fine. The kitchen is usually stocked with breakfast items that you can use. There is a Safeway about 3 blocks away so you can get your own groceries as well. They do have two cats, so consider that if you are allergic. Overall, Danny and Gail are excellent hosts and I would recommend their house for business or vacation.

Had a lovely 2 weeks with Gail & Danny - 5 of us enjoyed our home away from home while we went to an intensive class. Though G&D were there, they were very unobtrusive and let us study in the TV room, fix our own meals, and frequently went out of their way to make our stay more enjoyable. An added benefit for me was the ability to get my "cat fixes" in! The "hiss" from Mac was entertaining and the friendliness of Cheese was delightful! I highly recommend staying at this location for either a short or long stay. The location was perfect and the 1.35 walk to and from class made us feel like we could get some exercise in even though we spent so many hours in class. This was my first airbnb stay and will definitely give serious consideration to do it again.

They are very friendly and well-equipped for breakfast. They have a nice house and their bedrooms are awesome. The location is quite far from the public transportation but not as much a problem. The wooded floor sometimes make noise, but it also make the house look lively and warm.

Gail User ProfileGail is a superhost.

We have lived and raised our children in this diverse part of the DC Metro area for 30+ years and will never discriminate against any person or group. We are self-employed, creative professionals and work from our home. Our B&B home and separate guesthouse are at the nexus of DC, Silver Spring, and Takoma Park Maryland. Both homes are mid-20th-century with upgrades and furnished in an eclectic style.

We have enjoyed the acquaintances we've made in our 6+ years of hosting travelers and have over 150 positive reviews. Here are clips from some of our 5-star reviews: “Gail and Danny were absolutely GREAT! They were very helpful getting situated in the house. Gail was kind enough to pick me up from the metro station on the first day"…"The place is very conveniently located near the Silver Spring downtown, close to metro, restaurants, gyms, convenience stores"…."Danny and Gail were attentive while allowing us privacy and freedom to come and go as needed"…"We loved the casual and comfortable surroundings and the personalities of our hosts"…."My best [B&B] experience so far !!! This place is great, especially if you're an AIRP attendee ! :)" ..."This was truly a home away from home. If i ever go back to DC, I know where I'm heading." …"The house was lovely and exactly as listed, and the neighbourhood was safe, welcoming, and a short walk from anything you could possibly need"…"Their place was clean, cosy and comfortable. Plus, I had no trouble commuting into DC every day and I felt safe in the area around their house"…."The kitchen has a lot of room for cooking and it's always clean as well. It was actually a little sad to leave"…."This experience in [street name] avenue is one of those which we wont forget. The house is clean, cozy, and somehow unique and authentic"…."Better than expected: the house is big, cute, cosy, cleaned and you have everything you need. They are always trying to help you and are so respectful….” If you're new to the HomeStay concept, you will be "living with" others like you might with friends or family only possibly with more consideration. If you are looking for more privacy, we encourage you to consider our guest home listing instead, where your group will have the entire house to yourselves.

We enjoy sailing, hiking, skiing and biking. Ask us about the trips we offer to Annapolis and sailing on the Chesapeake Bay. We're avid travelers and enjoy insights on other cultures, languages, cuisines and adventures.
