AIRP residents are very welcome! We have had several groups stay with us while attending the review course at AFI Theatre which is one mile away. They appreciate the close proximity to class and the quiet comfort we offer for studying, preparing meals and relaxing. We appreciate the US and international acquaintances we've made as their hosts.
What guests like: The house is convenient to AFI Silver and two metro stations to get to Washington DC and tourist attractions. We are walking distance to stores, restaurants and a lively entertainment district in downtown Silver Spring, the eclectic shops of Takoma Park, and a beautiful jogging/biking trail along Sligo Creek nearby.
Guests have access to kitchen, laundry, TV/family room, living room, dining room, back deck and yard, fresh linens, free parking, and bikes.
Interaction with guests
This is a homeShare—with us--not a separate, private guest home or apartment. Please tell us during your stay if we can help make your experience more comfortable or pleasant. Common courtesies and cordial interactions are expected both in our home and our community. Guests usually have the kitchen to themselves in the morning and we try to coordinate our dinner so everyone has kitchen access to prepare an evening meal at a reasonable time. We absolutely love to hear your positive feedback but we NEED to hear your constructive feedback, as well, so we can keep improving and maintaining our home. During your stay, please do not withhold anything that might improve your experience. Since we live here we should be able to take care of it immediately.
Other things to note
We have 2 cats and will occasionally have a foster dog, so if you are allergic or uncomfortable with either animal, this is not the place for you. If you are traveling with a pet your booking will be considered on a case-by-case basis. You will be expected to add and pay for the pet as an extra guest.
We prefer to not have to enforce rules so we require that all guests read the Guidebook in full and let us know if there is anything you cannot comply with. If you have not received it prior to your arrival let us know. You can review the hard copy in your room as well. Be courteous and respectful of other guests, neighbors, us and our home. Universal acts of kindness, consideration and cooperation by hosts and guests are key to a successful homeShare experience. No strangers or unapproved overnight guests or visitors. No illegal activity.

We have lived and raised our children in this diverse part of the DC Metro area for 30+ years and will never discriminate against any person or group. We are self-employed, creative professionals and work from our home. Our B&B home and separate guesthouse are at the nexus of DC, Silver Spring, and Takoma Park Maryland. Both homes are mid-20th-century with upgrades and furnished in an eclectic style.
We have enjoyed the acquaintances we've made in our 6+ years of hosting travelers and have over 150 positive reviews. Here are clips from some of our 5-star reviews: “Gail and Danny were absolutely GREAT! They were very helpful getting situated in the house. Gail was kind enough to pick me up from the metro station on the first day"…"The place is very conveniently located near the Silver Spring downtown, close to metro, restaurants, gyms, convenience stores"…."Danny and Gail were attentive while allowing us privacy and freedom to come and go as needed"…"We loved the casual and comfortable surroundings and the personalities of our hosts"…."My best [B&B] experience so far !!! This place is great, especially if you're an AIRP attendee ! :)" ..."This was truly a home away from home. If i ever go back to DC, I know where I'm heading." …"The house was lovely and exactly as listed, and the neighbourhood was safe, welcoming, and a short walk from anything you could possibly need"…"Their place was clean, cosy and comfortable. Plus, I had no trouble commuting into DC every day and I felt safe in the area around their house"…."The kitchen has a lot of room for cooking and it's always clean as well. It was actually a little sad to leave"…."This experience in [street name] avenue is one of those which we wont forget. The house is clean, cozy, and somehow unique and authentic"…."Better than expected: the house is big, cute, cosy, cleaned and you have everything you need. They are always trying to help you and are so respectful….” If you're new to the HomeStay concept, you will be "living with" others like you might with friends or family only possibly with more consideration. If you are looking for more privacy, we encourage you to consider our guest home listing instead, where your group will have the entire house to yourselves.
We enjoy sailing, hiking, skiing and biking. Ask us about the trips we offer to Annapolis and sailing on the Chesapeake Bay. We're avid travelers and enjoy insights on other cultures, languages, cuisines and adventures.
Now that you know something about us, PLEASE give us the courtesy of sharing information about yourself, your group, and the purpose of your trip when contacting us about availability.
