The space

Studio Apartment, completely furnished. Located just 7 minutes and 2.65 miles from the French Quarter and 4 blocks to St. Charles the heart of the parade routes. My studio apartment is located in the famous Historic Garden District on Magazine Street where locals go for antique shopping, restaurants and nightlife. A perfect location for those who want to catch some beads and explore the city. This fully furnished apartment features a private entrance, private balcony, free high speed Wi-Fi, on site coin-operated washer-dryer, complete kitchen, bath, queen size bed and off street parking.
My location is perfect year round, but is absolutely ideal if you are looking to come during the Essence Festival July 4th thru July 7th 2013.
Jazz Festival begining April 25th thru April 27th second weekend is May 1st thru May 4th 2014 and/or Mardi Gras.
Mardi Gras parades start February 21st and last until Mardi Gras day March 04, 2014. I am four blocks from all the festivities on the Uptown Parade Route and a quick street car ride downtown to the Superdome and French Quarter.
This location will also be perfect for the 2014 NBA All-Star Game weekend starting February 13 thru February 16th (game day)
Grocery stores, Rite Aid/Walgreens, liquor stores, shopping, restaurants and bars are all within walking distance and are all less than 4 blocks away. The street car line is four blocks away and is the city's form of public transportation. It gives visitors direct access to downtown, the french quarter, uptown, garden district, Audubon Park and the university area. The neighborhood is safe and friendly and it is very easy to hail a cab from our place.

Guests are welcome to enjoy New Orleans' good weather and sit out on our porch. There are numerous great restaurants in walking distance of our place. We look forward to meeting anyone wanting to explore our wonderful city.

Getting around

The public (RTA) buss stop is directly in front of the house on Magazine St. the street car is a beautiful 4 block walk away. A cab ride to either the Quarters or further Uptown will be no more than $12 before tip. There is no need for a vehicle when you rent any of my locations including this one.

Other things to note

My neighbors cat Fergal has become a fixture here. However, I would prefer that he does not come inside of the apartment. Some of my guests are allergic to cat dander. This is a studio in a very Old Sugar Cane Plantation that was built somewhere in the late 1800's. It has all of the original features and blemishes. However, this is a very comfortable studio, if you are looking for ultra clean & modern amenities this probably will not suit your needs.

Overall, we had a nice stay in the apartment. However, that was after taking about a day to adjust our expectations. The first several photos of the listing no longer represent the condition of the apartment. In addition, they (naturally) do not show parts of the apartment that are in bad condition; such as rust in the sink, bath tub, paint flaking off the bathroom wall over the shower/tub and paint peeling off the ceiling above the bed. Another annoyance is that the screen door required to use when entering the apartment is torn and just hanging. Its a pity, as it's such an easy fix. Finally, it was kind of weird renting an apartment with the owners food in the refrigerator. This is a Bohemian apartment for someone that actually wants to live like a struggling artist versus a renovated apartment with a faux Boho Chic look. My main complaint is that the photos create an unrealistic expectation that ends up being a bit disappointing. That said, we did end up enjoying our stay very much. The location is great. It is right in the middle of Magazine street which gives a feeling of being a local in New Orleans, away from the tourist hustle in the French Quarter. Everything did work in the apartment, the sheets and towels seemed clean and for $100 per night, it appears to be priced fairly compared to the alternatives.

The studio is a good size for 2 people, it's cozy and has everything we needed. It is conveniently located on Magazine street in Garden District, which is a plus.

We really enjoyed our stay in the Garden District! This place is in a great location. It was walking distance from several restaurants, bars, coffee shops, and shopping on Magazine Street and just a quick car ride from the French Quarter, Bourbon Street, and downtown. I wouldn't recommend it for more than 2 guests. It was very cozy and charming with a large room, small kitchen, and a bathroom. Just what you need for a fun weekend in New Orleans! The host was very responsive and easy to communicate with.

Ann was hard to reach. A $25:00 early checkin fee was added to our bill just to leave our luggage. One entrance only which concerned me. The location was great being able to walk to the stores in the Garden District. Close to the transit.
