Mint cozy room near Thapae Gate, CM
This new and lovely guest house is located at a quiet street inside the ancient moat in the north east corner. The moat once protected this ancient city of Chiang Mai, founded over 700 years ago.

About Chiangmai
Chiang Mai is...the land of beauty, warm hospitality and good manners ...the land of fascinating, mist-shrouded mountains and fertile valleys ...the land of religion with over 1,100 Buddhist temples...and the land of Thai arts and handicrafts. An old city of over 700 years, Chiang Mai has rooted its culture so deeply that it has its own dialect, its own architecture, its own costume, its own dances and its own cuisine. Though modernization has crept into this faraway region for decades, Chiang Mai still retains its natural charm and old culture.

Night Bazaar
This popular place is an extensive night market spreading out along Chang Khlan Road. It consists of a great number of shops and street vendors, many of whom are hilltribes. The market offers a large variety of Thai and northern Thai goods, especially handicrafts and souvenirs, at attractive prices. This is a must for shopping-oriented visitors and bargain lovers.

Pretty standard budget accommodation in Chiang Mai. I've stayed in lots of them and think you can find better value in the area. Little things we're off on this stay (like having towels/toilet paper in the room upon check-in) that typically aren't at other places. That said, they were very accommodating of requests and friendly. It worked for my 1-night stay needs.

The room was exactly as in photos, very clean, toilet/shower combination typical for SE Asia guesthouses. Internet WiFi was reliable once I had the correct password for the strongest signal network (I was on second floor; one of the other networks was a weak signal there). I was very pleased with Auk as he was helpful during my stay. If you are looking for a budget accommodation in the NE corner of Chiang Mai's old town, this is a solid option.

The room was clean but the bathroom was not. I was very uncomfortable because it was so small. My experience might have been different because I had culture shock in Thailand and was not expecting the showers to be the way it was. Then I learned that that was the norm. Other than that the room was fine. Location was ok; everywhere I went was too far to walk so I had to take a taxi anyway. His dad was very helpful to take us to the airport early in the morning when the taxi wouldn't come. I also had issues with wifi connection, most of the time it didn't work for me.

Decent place. Worked for what we needed. Good location in the northeast Old City. Chiang Mai is a great city, hard to find yourself in a bad spot.

We didn't see Auk much, however, when we did see him he was nice and helpful.

Sripoom House is in a great location with nearby food stalls and eateries. Thapae Gate is also in walkable distance, and there are nearby water refill stations to replenish your own water bottles. Auk was a very friendly host and we also loved the two friendly cats who hung around the check-in area! Our room was standard for the area; the beds were firm, hot water worked (had AC although we didn't need it), and there was a place to hang some laundry on the small balcony. The room itself was very clean and tidy, but the bathroom wasn't much to look at. Everything was functional but the toilet was discolored, the tile had mildew stains, and there were a few holes in the ceiling. We booked three nights and were able to stay an additional 4th night on the fly when we needed it. Overall, it met our needs for our short stay.
