At 15 km from Amsterdam, in the polder countryside and
an 8 minutes walk from the Zaanse Schans, lies our house with its charming, fully self-supporting guesthouse for 1-6 persons. A terrace and a big garden are all around the house, with a trampoline, a slide, ping pong table and enough space to play football. The guesthouse is next to our house, on the other side of the small bridge, which gives you all the privacy you need, while having us always nearby if you need help with anything.

Ideal for families with kids, 2 couples, 6 friends, but also often used as a writers' and artists' retreat.
The house has 3 bedrooms, 2 of which are connected, so depending on your relationship, the house can welcome up to 4-6 persons. The atmosphere is warm, relaxed and relatively basic. We have central heating, free WIFI, mp3 plugin, cable television and a home cinema system with loads of dvds, for the long winter evenings.

1 Fully equipped kitchen with cooker, refrigerator, freezer, microwave/grill/oven and a coffee-grinding espressomachine.
1 L shaped living room with working space, dinner table with 6 chairs. Windows are all around and french doors lead to the terrace and garden.
1 Toilet

1 double room, with double bed
2 connected bedrooms, split level, with
1 double bed (that can be split in 2 singles)
1 kingsize bed in the upper level
1 bathroom with shower and toilet

Our house is at a 8 minutes walk away from world's famous open air museum Zaanse Schans, with its historic houses and windmills to visit. Here you will feel and relive the history of the Netherlands.

We live in a beautiful biking area, and we have therefore enough bicycles for you in every size.

The house is of course also a perfect operating base for visiting and going out in Amsterdam.
There is a direct train every 15 minutes from Koog-Zaandijk to Amsterdam Central Station (17 minutes ride).
To the trainstation it is a beautiful 20 minute walk or 10 minutes cycling through the Zaanse Schans, or 7 minutes by car (free parking).

Beaches are at a 20 minutes drive away.
Edam and Alkmaar (famous cheesemarkets), Monnickendam, Volendam, Marken and Haarlem at 25 minutes.
Schiphol Airport (email hidden)ere is a direct train from Schiphol to Zaandam-Kogerveld station (22 minutes trainride)

The rate is for 2 persons and includes:
* linen
* towels
* breakfast the first morning after arrival

Our family will welcome you with great pleasure. Please contact us if you're interested.

Children under the age of 3 are free and extra baby-beds are also available and free.

We have a dog Linus that never comes inside the guesthouse, and that we can keep on our side of the bridge if you prefer.

A car is convenient, but if you come without, we can pick you up from the trainstation Koog-Zaandijk (train from Amsterdam) or Zaandam-Kogerveld (train from Schiphol-airport) which are both only a 7 minute ride from home.

  • We had a wonderful stay in this beautiful home in the Zaanse Schans. I can't say enough positive things. This home is clean, comfortable, and relaxing. Tine and her husband were amazing hosts. They were so helpful, accommodating, and fun. Our welcome breakfast was delicious. We left feeling like we were old friends. Travelers note: We ran into several "glitches" in Holland trying to use credit cards without chips and pins, so be sure to take Euros. We will definitely return. Thank you again Tine for all you did for us.

  • My family and I had a delightful time. The location was perfect. We could venture off by train to explore the hustle and bustle of Amsterdam in 30min by train; and then escape to our tranquil little paradise after a long day in town with the kids.
It was everything we expected. Beautiful surroundings, great bike tracks and restaurants. Most of all, our hosts were very welcoming and enthusiastic to help and give us tips. Thank you so much for an unforgettable memory. I will definitely recommend this place to my family and friends.

  • What a great place and Tine is the perfect host. This is the first ever holiday home we've stayed in that doesn't feel like a holiday home. It had everything we could want - and the icing on the cake is the home cinema. The children loved the trampoline and the carefully chosen selection of toys. Tine has thought of every detail and that is what makes this place so outstanding.

  • Such a great place! Cozy, quiet and tucked away yet perfectly located with just a short bike ride to Windmills, the village and the central station. So much space and comfort plus a really great host (Tine) that one would be hard pressed to find any flaws at this dream location. She had everything including bikes and a few jackets we managed to forget. Can't say enough about our wonderful stay.

  • Our stay at Tines lovely cottage was so comfortable that it was just like being at home. All of the comfort are there and it is a very relaxing environment. The cottage was spotlessly clean and we were presented with the most amazing breakfast package that lasted us throughout our stay. We were able to borrow bikes to explore the surrounding area which is by far the best way to go. Thank you Tine for a wonderful experience.

  • We were a group of five adults, ages 50 to 80 and had a wonderful time here for 8 nights. We made use of the bikes to bike the loop around Zaanse Schans. The arrival breakfast was delicious and lasted several days. This is a nice quiet place in the country, but close enough to see the sights of Netherlands. We took the train into the city of Amsterdam, but used a car for other travels. You should have a car available since there are not really any restaurants or grocery stores in walking distance. The kitchen facilities meant that we cooked most of our meals here. A good size living area meant we were able to be together, but not cramped. Tine provides lots of tourist information in the house and is very approachable with ideas, suggestions and recommendations. A truly wonderful place for a group traveling together.

  • We were 6 adults and 1 child in the house and the place and space was absolutly fine. Really nice equipment and furniture as well kitchen tools. The whole house has lots of light, a cozy atmosphere and is really clean. The surrounding is gorgeaous (lots of sheep, cows, horses and ducks.
We would definitly stay with Tine again. Thank you :).

Danke :).

Both my husband and I are freelance actors on stage/film/tv. We moved from Amsterdam to here with our two boys (8,12) 6 years ago, when we fell in love with the house, with the area, which gives us the best of both worlds: the space of the countryside and the vicinity of Amsterdam. We love traveling and meeting people from all over the world. We speak Dutch, English, German and (as I grew up in France) French fluently.
