The space

At 15 km from Amsterdam, in the polder countryside and 2 minutes from the Zaanse Schans, lies our house with its charming, fully self-supporting guesthouse for 1-6 persons. We are located in the countryside, but not in the middle of nowhere.
There is a terrace and a big garden are all around the house, with a trampoline, a slide, a basketball court with 2 baskets, and enough space to play football. The guesthouse is next to our house, on the other side of the small bridge, which gives you all the privacy you need, while having us always nearby if you need help with anything.
Ideal for families with kids, 2 couples, 6 friends, but also often used as a writers' and artists' retreat.
The house has 3 bedrooms, 2 of which are connected, so depending on your relationship, the house can welcome up to 4-6 persons. The atmosphere is warm, relaxed and relatively basic. We have central heating, free WIFI (but can also be WIFI-free if you prefer), mp3 plugin, cable television and a home cinema system with loads of dvds, for the long winter evenings.
Downstairs:
1 Fully equipped kitchen with cooker, refrigerator, freezer, dishwasher, microwave/grill/oven and a coffee-grinding espressomachine.
1 L shaped living room, dinner table with 6 chairs (+children/baby chairs) Windows are all around and french doors lead to the terrace and garden.
1 Toilet

Upstairs:
1 double room, with queensize bed
2 connected bedrooms, split level with door, with:
1 double room kingsize bed or split in 2 singles
1 double room with queensize bed in the upper level
1 bathroom with shower and toilet

A car is most convenient, but if you come without, we can pick you up from the trainstation (Zaanse Schans (train from Amsterdam) or Zaandam-Kogerveld (train from Schiphol-airport)).
Note that without a car you will have to like the idea of cycling around as the Dutch do. It is a beautiful biking area, and I provide bicycles in all sizes (also with baby seats) to get around during your stay, go to the shops, to the trainstation etc., as walking might be a little bit too far or inconvenient along the road we live.
Our house is 2 minutes away from world's famous open air museum Zaanse Schans, with its historic houses and windmills to visit. Here you will feel and relive the history of the Netherlands.

The house is of course also a perfect operating base for visiting and going out in Amsterdam.
We live nearby Amsterdam, and to get there it is a 15 minute drive to cheap parking lots at the entrance of the city, but maybe easiest is to take the train.
A direct train takes you every 15 minutes from Koog-Zaandijk to Amsterdam Central Station (17 minutes ride).
To the trainstation it is a beautiful 10 minutes bikeride through the Zaanse Schans, or 7 minutes by car (free parking).

Beaches are at a 20 minutes drive away.
Edam and Alkmaar (famous cheesemarkets), Monnickendam, Volendam, Marken and Haarlem at 25 minutes.
There is a direct train from Schiphol Airport to Zaandam-Kogerveld station (22 minutes trainride)

The rate is for 2 persons and includes:
* linen
* towels
* use of bikes
* breakfast the first morning after arrival

Every extra person above 2 persons is € 25,- per night.
Children under the age of 3 are free and extra baby-beds, high chairs etc. are also available and free.

We have a dog Linus that never comes inside the guesthouse, and that we can keep on our side of the bridge if you prefer.
Our family will welcome you with great pleasure. Please contact us if you're interested.

This was my first taste of air bnb, and proved a great start! Tine's place is really lovely, set amongst farmland /wetlands. It's quiet and a little off the beaten track, so it's useful to have a car - although the train station is within easy distance, and Tine has bikes that visitors can use. We found it a great place to come back to in the evening, to relax, after a day of sight seeing. It has a huge home cinema, with plenty of dvds to choose from, as well as a selection of board games. There are things to do in the area, but it's also within easy reach of Amsterdam (by car or by train). It was a real 'home from home' experience - with a relaxed, rustic feel (but all mod cons included). Tine and her husband were warm and welcoming, and great sources of advice and help - on things to do, as well as practical tips. My friend and I both enjoyed our break there!

We loved absolutely everything about our week with Tine and her beautiful family. Their warmth and friendliness, as well as Tine's spectacular breakfast to welcome us, made our first extended stay in the Netherlands extraordinary. They provided bicycles and metro passes as well as helpful daily advice. Our beds and the whole house were super comfortable. A bouquet of fresh tulips added to the tasteful, relaxed feel. It was our first experience on a polder and we loved waking to birdsong and riding bikes to Zaanse Schans and beyond. We recommend Tine and her place with enthusiasm and affection.

Dear Tine and Renaud from five stars we would give six!!! we stayed with you 5 marvellous days. we were deeply impressed by your kindness and hospitality. we travel a lot and like living in houses of the locals to get familiar with their life. this was the best experience we had ever! we had a feeling that you like hosting people, you and your family were wonderful, tried your best to let us feel well. we appreciate that you made extraordinary effort to help my wife bike behind you and bike with us to Zaanse schans. we enjoyed playing basketball with your family. we appreciate your generosity. we loved your full equiped "spoiling" house in a very quite and rural, yet central location. it is hard to express how much we are grateful, and we hope to see you again.

The host Tine has been really kind and she came to pick the 5 of us up a the train station of Zaanse Schans. Once arrived, she showed us our accomodation and every comfort that offers: TV, projector, blu-ray, DVDs, books, kitchen with every kind of utilities (including coffe machine), basketball court and futsal goals! The breakfast for the first morning was included in the fee, very good and plentiful. Tine gives us also bicycles and Oyster cards (to pay less trains, autobus, metro). The house is very big and comfortable fo up to 6 persons. House very clean and pretty, into a natural paradise. The position is quite far from the centre of Amsterdam (geographically), but using bicycles and train you can get in Amsterdam Station Centraal in 30/35 minutes. All Tine's family (including dog Linus! :) welcomed us . I recommend both location and host. I will get back for sure: get through the Zaanse Schans every day is priceless.

Tine was an absolute amazing host, very welcoming and accommodating. Provided us with a beautiful welcome breakfast and always offered us a lift where possible. Such a lovely home with gorgeous surroundings. Will definitely be returning. We had an amazing time exploring Amsterdam, and our stay here made it 100x better, so thanks Tine!

Tine User ProfileTine is a superhost.

Both my husband and I are freelance actors on stage/film/tv. We moved from Amsterdam to here with our two boys (12,16) 10 years ago, when we fell in love with the house, with the area, which gives us the best of both worlds: the space of the countryside and the vicinity of Amsterdam.
We love traveling and meeting people from all over the world. We speak Dutch, English, German and (as I grew up in France) French fluently.
