Best Value Guesthouse, CM Old City.
This new and lovely guest house is located at a quiet street inside the ancient moat in the north east corner. The moat once protected this ancient city of Chiang Mai, founded over 700 years ago.
Chiang Mai is...the land of beauty, warm hospitality and good manners ...the land of fascinating, mist-shrouded mountains and fertile valleys ...the land of religion with over 1,100 Buddhist temples...and the land of Thai arts and handicrafts. An old city of over 700 years, Chiang Mai has rooted its culture so deeply that it has its own dialect, its own architecture, its own costume, its own dances and its own cuisine. Though modernization has crept into this faraway region for decades, Chiang Mai still retains its natural charm and old culture.
This popular place is an extensive night market spreading out along Chang Khlan Road. It consists of a great number of shops and street vendors, many of whom are hilltribes. The market offers a large variety of Thai and northern Thai goods, especially handicrafts and souvenirs, at attractive prices. This is a must for shopping-oriented visitors and bargain lovers.
Kitchen hours: open from 8am to 7.30pm daily.
Spacious room in a good location. However, the room looks old, specially the bathroom, and cleaning could be improved. I was there 3 days and internet worked really bad.
I believe this place is overpriced. You can find nicer places in Chiang May for the same or less price.
The room, with a lovely balcony, is perfectly located in central Chiang Mai.
There is a kitchen to share, and a laundry service.
Auk is a nice person very helpful if you have any problem.
Thank you very much, I had a pleasant stay in your house!
The guest house is simple, clean, good wifi, great neighborhood. Auk was helpful and friendly. He drove me to get a motorcycle and negotiated for me. I will return to Sripoom Guest House 1.
The location is key! So close to the Sunday market and the nightlife, but super quite and relaxed. Very helpful and super friendly! We ended up staying almost a week longer because we enjoyed it so much!
I stayed here with my wife for 2 weeks in February. The value for this place was really good. There are quite a few guest houses in the area, but it was really nice to be so close to everything happening. The night bazaar was only a 5-10 minute walk from here. Someone wrote that the place was quiet, at night time it seemed to be. A rooster will wake you up in the morning. You get used to it. Overall a very good stay in Chiang Mai.
If you get tired of eating out, the communal kitchen was great to go cook eggs and cut up some fruit for breakfast. Also when you're on your way there, it might be easiest to tell the taxi driver the place is called Sripoom house 1.
The Sripoon House is ideally located in the heart of the backpacker area. Really convenient and close to a lot of attractions in Chiang Mai, including the Sunday night market.
Auk was a wonderful host.
