***Before booking, please read the "house rules", which are more "information" than rules that will make your stay more convenient, and if you do end up booking, please read the house manual before arriving for more of the same--like how to access the house and what the internet code is. The "house rules" are located in a tab above the description. A link to the house manual will be emailed to you along with your post-booking confirmation directly from airbnb. Many thanks!
Enjoy all that inner-SE Portland has to offer in a beautiful and creative home that lives like an episode of Portlandia—complete with chickens, raised beds, bikes, ping pong and more.
Located in the Clinton neighborhood, visitors can walk to the People’s Coop, a year-round Farmers Market, New Seasons grocery store, the Löyly Sauna and a plethora of restaurants, cafes and bakeries—many showcasing local and organic fare—with vegan to omnivore offerings. Yoga studios, food carts, shopping and more are also in the vicinity, as are bike routes and bus lines. Please also see the Guidebook for details on nearby highlights. Street parking available.
The home was built in 1905 and is a charming space that has been tastefully and artistically updated while retaining original touches like wood mouldings, hard wood floors and leaded windows. It is designed with an eclectic mix of mid-century, modern and eco styles. The home has recently undergone energy efficiency upgrades through Clean Oregon Energy Works and has a new furnace, on-demand hot water, and is insulated and sealed creating a comfortable climate year-round. Heaters and fans are available if need be.
The gourmet kitchen features a five-burner gas range, dishwasher, butcher-block islands and custom farmhouse sink. Guests are welcome to use the kitchen, living, dining and outdoor areas. The two-story carriage house features convenient covered & secure bike storage, gas and charcoal grills and ping pong.
The house contains three bedrooms, two baths and any airbnb guests would be staying downstairs in the dedicated guest room with its own bath, and own entrance if you like, yet full access to all of the living areas and yard. (This is a new arrangement and there are not yet official airbnb-verified photos of the room on this site but there will be after the wallpaper is installed.) PLEASE NOTE, the ceilings are relatively low. If you are over 6 feet tall, you might not find it ideal. That said, I just had a guest who was 6'3" and was fine with it. Washer and dryer, wireless Internet and local phone calls are included.
The home is cared for by the owner, an avid foodie, who now lives about 5 miles away with her boyfriend but who returns home regularly to check on her chickens, Lucy and Zehmer, as well as the garden and of course, airbnb guests.

The house was clean and offered everything I needed and more. The house has a lot of character and felt welcoming. Great experience.
Amy accommodated us last minute. Not many folks could do that.
Amy's place was great-- it was wonderful to look outside and see chickens in the morning! Really a treat and we hope to stay here again soon.
Amy is a great airbnb hostess and has a wonderful setup for guests. With a separate entrance, your own bathroom, a closet with lots of storage, and super comfy pillows, what more could you want? Read her house manual. She lays everything out that you need to know! Thanks Amy, if I come back, I know where to stay!
Amy's place was great! I don't have a whole lot to say that wasn't already said by the other reviewers but I'll mention that the highlight of my stay was when I peered out the window one morning to see a chicken staring back at me. It was the Portlandia experience I'd always dreamed of and it left me wondering if that young chicken ever knew Colin.
I dont think Amy needs more comments, but still, this, place got it all, run!
Third time we've stayed and I'm sure we will again. Amy really makes us feel at home and sharing space is so easy. Not to mention Amy is so sweet and cool to be around! Love seeing her and meeting her friends. Clean, quiet and homey. The refinished basement and private bathroom are like a private little palace. What more could you want while you are on vacation?
We had a fantastic stay at Amy's house, in fact, we loved it so much that we rented an apartment a block away! The location is quiet, yet close to a plethora of shops, restaurants, and cool neighborhood hangouts. Her housemate was very kind and was fun to share a space with. Both Amy and her housemate had great recommendations of places to go and activities to do in Portland. We loved watching the chickens every day and using the ping pong table in the beautiful carriage house. My boyfriend and I both highly recommend staying here while visiting Portland.
We had an amazing time in Portland! I highly recommend staying here with Amy. We had a separate entrance and plenty of privacy. Everything was clean and neat. The house is in a great location close to the city with easy access to a bus stop. Wonderful experience!
I adored this place! Perfect location near great coffee spots, New Seasons grocery, etc.....it was fun to have a bike available to cruise around the neighborhood. The kitchen was fabulous, and my basement studio was clean and very homey. Thanks for the coffee and welcome water Amy. I will be staying here every time I come to Portland.
