Experience a Vietnamese homestay with my family.
We live in a typical Vietnamese house, in a typical family neighborhood, on a typical pedestrian street.
Our newly built house has five floors. We rent two private rooms. Each room offers a comfortable queen size bed, a private bathroom, air-conditionning, fan, tv, wifi, large window and glass door to let in natural light (with good curtains if you wish to be in the dark!), and a small balcony overlooking streetlife. Each room can accomodate 2 persons.
You are welcome to use our kitchen or whatever facility our house offers. Many of our previous guests really enjoyed the 360 view offered from our roof top terrace at sunrise, sundown, or to see the city lights in the evening.
We live in district 8, just on the other side of the bridge that brings you in district 1 where most tourists attractions are and in district 5, Cholon, the famous Chinese neighborhood, and district 4 along the river going to Saigon river opposite district 1. From another the bridge reach Phu My Hung distric 7 such as new city with restaurant and shopping small exhibition event. we are living on the island.
During the day, you can take bus 152 and in less than 10 minutes, it will drop you at the Ben Thanh market or directly at the Ben Thanh bus station, near the Reunification Palace or the War museum,... from there you can walk any where in district 1. If you keep going on that same bus, you can even reach the airport in about 50 minutes just cost 5000 vnd ( 25 cents )
It is also possible to walk over the bridge for about 1,5 km and catch bus number 1 at any time. It can bring you downtown quickly to Le Loi street near the Opera, the famous hotels, major shopping streets or going the other way, to the famous market in Cholon and the Cholon bus station. Bus number 1 from 6am to 8 :30 pm Saigon Cho Lon ( downtown to China town )
District 8 is a living district. Tourists are a rare sight. On the way to my house you will be on typical commercial street with lots of traffic, restaurants, streetfood ... You will then turn on a typical small alley that will lead you to my house. That type of pedestrian alleys form mazes between major streets in HCMC. Most people live in those mazes of alleys and you will be living on one!
Much quieter then the major streets, no cars can enter! The sound of traffic from major streets becomes distant and you can now hear the sound of people living, talking, playing. Of course, the occasionnal moto has to make its way to the major street.
You will see people walking, kids playing in front of their house, families watching tv in their living room, families with little stalls in front of their house, or a little store in their living room...
A few meters from my house, you can have nice Vietnamese coffee. Within a few minutes, you will find a nice local typical market with food stalls, clothings, food market, grocery shopping...
We want your homestay at our house to be Home Away from Home for all travellers: solo, couples and families.
If this is the type of travelling you might enjoy, do not hesitate to write to me. Each room is 17$/night for 1 person and 22$ for 2.
Pham and her family are very nice and welcoming. We arrived on Valentines Day and went out with Pham to a bar which was lovely. She provided us with a city map and had plenty of useful recommendations. The house is very clean and modern with a spacious room and a private balcony.
It was a very nice staying with Lihn and her family. She helped us a lot during our time in HCMC. it's easy to get to downtown and quiet at night time for sleeping. There is one warning for tall people that you need to watch your head when you climbing up. ;-p We will definitely stay with them again if we go to HCMC.
Had an amazing stay! Pham and her family are wonderful hosts! When we first got in her family gave us a delicious lunch that we shared with them! Later She helped show us around her neighbourhood, gave us a map, took us to get good at her local market. The room was beautiful and clean (looks like the pictures) with a great view of Saigons many stunning rooftops. Highly Recommend!!!!!
We spend our first night in Airbnb with Pham and her family in Ho Chi Minh during Vietnamese NY and it was a great first experience! Before we came we changed our plans more than once, but nothing was ever a problem for her.
The house is nice and spacious and located in a nice area outside of the touristic zone so it's nice, quiet and a real VIetnamese experience. But you can still get to the center for around 2 USD in taxi or a good half hour walking if you don't mind a little walk.
Right from the beginning we were welcomed with great Vietnamese food, beers, sometimes more than we could handle haha, and always a smile from Pham and her family. I can definitely recommend this place to anyone for a great experience in Hanoi, unless you rather stay in the busy streets of the backpacker area, then this place might be a little too far for you.
Thanks again Pham we wish you all the best!
Really enjoyed staying with Pham and her family! They are so sweet and funny! Pham was very hospitable, even showed me around! Her house is nice, clean, good location, not touristy, really gives you an authentic homestay experience! Would definitely recommend:) Thank you, Pham!!
The room is clean. Location is a little far from city center. Please note the room is located on the third floor. The family is very nice and friendly.
Linh is a friendly and helpful hostess. When travel delays prevented my arrival, she allowed me to shift my week-long reservation a few says. On my arrival the room was not what I expected. It was a different room that did not match the pictures provided on Airbnb. I assume this occurred because of the arrival delay.
The room I stayed in was clean and neat. I slept on a queen sized mattress on the floor. The hostess provided water and a city map on the bedside table. Because this room was smaller, there was no private bathroom as advertised. I shared a bathroom with the family, which wasn't a problem for my short stay. Linh provided bath towels.
On the first full day, Linh gave me directions to Ben Thanh market and showed me where to find the bus stop. During the week, I worked, and either she or her dad took me to and from work each day. Meals were not provided, but for $5 USD the family will cook you a delicious meal.
This was an interesting experience because I got to know the family as well as some of the other guests. I was able to chat with some after work and got to know Linh a bit better over coffee on my last night.
Though the area is a bit remote from the "touristy" part of HCMC, it's not difficult to get to District 1 by bus (15-20 min). This is a good short stay option for the adventurous traveller.
Thank you very much for the great stay in your family's house, Pham!
Pham is a great host and will help you out with everything and is happy to answer every question about HCMC or Vietnam in general. Sadly we havnt got a room with our own bathroom, but as the general bathroom was always clean it was no problem at all. It is very funny, that there are a lot of other guests staying in the same house... so you get to know people and you can explore the area together or simply meet up for dinner.
All in all the best choice for our stay in Saigon.
