Experience a Vietnamese homestay with my family.
We live in a typical Vietnamese house, in a typical family neighborhood, on a typical pedestrian street.
Our newly built house has five floors. We rent two private rooms. Each room offers a comfortable queen size bed, a private bathroom, air-conditionning, fan, tv, wifi, large window and glass door to let in natural light (with good curtains if you wish to be in the dark!), and a small balcony overlooking streetlife. Each room can accomodate 2 persons.
You are welcome to use our kitchen or whatever facility our house offers. Many of our previous guests really enjoyed the 360 view offered from our roof top terrace at sunrise, sundown, or to see the city lights in the evening.
We live in district 8, just on the other side of the bridge that brings you in district 1 where most tourists attractions are and in district 5, Cholon, the famous Chinese neighborhood, and district 4 along the river going to Saigon river opposite district 1. From another the bridge reach Phu My Hung distric 7 such as new city with restaurant and shopping small exhibition event. we are living on the island.
During the day, you can take bus 152 and in less than 10 minutes, it will drop you at the Ben Thanh market or directly at the Ben Thanh bus station, near the Reunification Palace or the War museum,... from there you can walk any where in district 1. If you keep going on that same bus, you can even reach the airport in about 50 minutes just cost 5000 vnd ( 25 cents )
It is also possible to walk over the bridge for about 1,5 km and catch bus number 1 at any time. It can bring you downtown quickly to Le Loi street near the Opera, the famous hotels, major shopping streets or going the other way, to the famous market in Cholon and the Cholon bus station. Bus number 1 from 6am to 8 :30 pm Saigon Cho Lon ( downtown to China town )
District 8 is a living district. Tourists are a rare sight. On the way to my house you will be on typical commercial street with lots of traffic, restaurants, streetfood ... You will then turn on a typical small alley that will lead you to my house. That type of pedestrian alleys form mazes between major streets in HCMC. Most people live in those mazes of alleys and you will be living on one!
Much quieter then the major streets, no cars can enter! The sound of traffic from major streets becomes distant and you can now hear the sound of people living, talking, playing. Of course, the occasionnal moto has to make its way to the major street.
You will see people walking, kids playing in front of their house, families watching tv in their living room, families with little stalls in front of their house, or a little store in their living room...
A few meters from my house, you can have nice Vietnamese coffee. Within a few minutes, you will find a nice local typical market with food stalls, clothings, food market, grocery shopping...
We want your homestay at our house to be Home Away from Home for all travellers: solo, couples and families.
If this is the type of travelling you might enjoy, do not hesitate to write to me. Each room is 17$/night for 1 person and 22$ for 2.
feel my home as well as your house away home !
To stay at Linh's house was amazingly great experience for me ! Linh is such a sweet lady, and so is her family. The room is very comfortable, located at good place (not touristic place !). There are a lovely coffee & Pho shop next to their house.
Linh gave me a good travel tip and we shared a great time together. You shouldn't miss a chance to stay her house in HCMC !
Linh was a wonderful host, she and her family made our stay in Ho Chi Minh very comfortable and fun! Linh was also able to arrange a tour to the cu chi tunnels for us and took us to a few places she recommends very much around her house. We'd definitely come back again!
I stayed at Phams house for four days and was very unwell, Pham and her family were very kind and offered to take me to see a doctor and to share their meals with me. The room at the very top is spacious, with a very comfortable bed and it is fairly quiet whereas the one on the first floor was very noisy. For a taste of Vietnamese life Phams place is great!
Pham and her family were so nice and welcoming. It was great to stay in a real household with a family going about their business. Her family does not speak English, but we settled in fine. Her mother made us iced coffee our first morning, and we had to awaken her father in the middle of the night to go to the airport and it worked out fine. Pham is very nice and pointed out a really good street side cafe that was really good. The room was comfortable and had a little balcony. The locaiton is not next to sites, but you can easily take a bus for very little money in 10 minutes. Also, we walked to District 1 two times and it only took about 30 minutes. An interesting area outside the touristy parts and District 1. Glad we stayed here! Thank you!
Pham's house was great. I took the bus 152 to her house. It was hard to find her place at first but I asked and people helped me find the place. It wasn't hard to find but I guess I am not a good finder. Her place was in a local area and I saw how Vietnamies people live daily lives. Local market was just around the corner and there were many local people shopping. Comparing to Ben Than everything was cheaper here. I strongly recommend shopping coffee and Vietnamies hat here. The room condition of Pham's house was nice and clean. Air conditioner worked fine and the room was nice and cozy. Even though I couldn't meet Pham the day I went there, her mother and family members welcomed and helped me so much. They didn't speak English at all so we talked with body languages but when they need translation they called Pham and asked so language wasn't a problem. Also Pham's mother called taxi and tried to explain a lot of things for us. Staying at Pham's house was one of the best choice I made while traveling and I strongly recommend it to people who want to feel the local atmosphere of Vietnam
We were quite excited about our stay here given all the positive reviews. However, when we arrived Pham was out and left her phone at home. Her family greeted us as best they could (they don't speak English) and showed us to a room without a washroom - which was not what we were expecting. When we finally met Pham she apologized for not being able to give us a room with a washroom and didn't really appreciate the fact that we wouldn't have stayed with her if we knew ahead of time that was the case.
The family is kind but also doesn't pay much attention to you - which is a positive or negative, depending on what you're going for. Pham herself is helpful in arranging onward travel and ensuring you see Saigon. The location is a bit far. If you're not spending much time in the city it's probably advisable to stay a bit more central to avoid all the back and forth.
