The space

A Great Authentic Experience A Vietnamese homestay with my family.
We live in a typical Vietnamese house, in a typical family neighborhood, on a typical pedestrian street.

Our newly built house has five floors. Each room offers a comfortable queen size bed, a private bathroom, air-conditioning, fan, tv, wifi, large window and glass door to let in natural light (with good curtains if you wish to be in the dark!), and a small balcony overlooking street life. Each room can accommodate 2 persons.

You are welcome to use our kitchen or whatever facility our house offers. Many of our previous guests really enjoyed the 360 view offered from our roof top terrace at sunrise, sundown, or to see the city lights in the evening.

We live in district 8, just on the other side of the bridge that brings you in district 1 where most tourists attractions are and in district 5, Cholon, the famous Chinese neighborhood, and district 4 along the river going to Saigon river opposite district 1. From another the bridge reach Phu My Hung district 7 such as new city with restaurant and shopping small exhibition event. we are living on the island.

During the day, you can take bus 152 and in less than 10 minutes, it will drop you at the Ben Thanh market or directly at the Ben Thanh bus station, near the Reunification Palace or the War museum,... from there you can walk any where in district 1. If you keep going on that same bus, you can even reach the airport in about 50 minutes just cost 5000 vnd ( 25 cents )

It is also possible to walk over the bridge for about 1,5 km and catch bus number 1 at any time. It can bring you downtown quickly to Le Loi street near the Opera, the famous hotels, major shopping streets or going the other way, to the famous market in Cholon and the Cholon bus station. Bus number 1 from 6am to 8 :30 pm Saigon Cho Lon ( downtown to China town )

District 8 is a living district. Tourists are a rare sight. On the way to my house you will be on typical commercial street with lots of traffic, restaurants, streetfood ... You will then turn on a typical small alley that will lead you to my house. That type of pedestrian alleys form mazes between major streets in HCMC. Most people live in those mazes of alleys and you will be living on one!

Much quieter then the major streets, no cars can enter! The sound of traffic from major streets becomes distant and you can now hear the sound of people living, talking, playing. Of course, the occasional moto has to make its way to the major street.

You will see people walking, kids playing in front of their house, families watching tv in their living room, families with little stalls in front of their house, or a little store in their living room...

A few meters from my house, you can have nice Vietnamese coffee. Within a few minutes, you will find a nice local typical market with food stalls, clothing, food market, grocery shopping...

We want your homestay at our house to be Home Away from Home for all travelers: solo, couples and families.

If this is the type of travelling you might enjoy, do not hesitate to write to me.

About home sweet home away.

Easy to take bus number 152 to go Ben Thah bus stop just 10 minutes as well as to airport. Many good and cheap serviced. It is convenient to go downtown without jam traffic.

This place is fantastic! Linh was in France and her family spoke very little English but we were able to communicate with gestures and small words. This was our first stop in HCMC and I'm so glad we experienced living with locals at the start of our trip. It prepared us for the rest of the trip. At first we were intimidated by this location (District 8) since there were no tourists in the area, but after a day we were walking amongst the locals, drinking beer with Linhn's father, eating delicious street food and laughing a lot with Linh's Mom. It is a great place and we highly recommend it!

Pham was out when we arrived at her place however she made sure to make us feel welcome through her family. They were kind and genuinely invited us into their home. Pham herself kept in touch with us until she was back which made all the difference to us. Great warm reception. Listing was accurate, nothing to complain about. Room was clean, was a master bedroom as described and had air conditioning (which was needed). Neighbourhood itself was great, just off the main road and only a 10 min cab ride into the heart of Ho Chi Minh. Overall recommend as a place to stay if you're in the city. Thanks Pham

Great room, friendly family. Pham was not home, but her friend David was a big help. Showed us around town and gave many tips about food and where to go, and not to go. We highly recomend staying here :)

Very nice stay with Linh and her lovely family in a modern and clean house. Linh was very welcoming and she kindly helped me with useful tips and directions. I really enjoyed the ice coffee and breakfast next door and the street food in this very local neighborhood. Indeed it is an excellent spot to discover the daily life of locals in Saigon away from the main tourist spots, which are still within reach thanks to the bus 152 or cheap taxi rides, though. Good way to meet other travelers too.

Thanks for hosting us, Pham. We arrived around noon and it wasn't that difficult to find the house in the narrow alley. I guess going into the narrow alley could be a bit scary if you arrive at night though. There seemed to be a double booking, but we managed to get it resolved and Pham offered to move us to another house, which was closer to the city centre. Everything that we needed was available and our stay was enjoyable.
