A Great Authentic Experience A Vietnamese https://www.airbnb.com/manage-listing/921816/pricinghomestay with my family.
We live in a typical Vietnamese house, in a typical family neighborhood, on a typical pedestrian street.
Our newly built house has five floors. We rent two private rooms. Each room offers a comfortable queen size bed, a private bathroom, air-conditionning, fan, tv, wifi, large window and glass door to let in natural light (with good curtains if you wish to be in the dark!), and a small balcony overlooking streetlife. Each room can accomodate 2 persons.
You are welcome to use our kitchen or whatever facility our house offers. Many of our previous guests really enjoyed the 360 view offered from our roof top terrace at sunrise, sundown, or to see the city lights in the evening.
We live in district 8, just on the other side of the bridge that brings you in district 1 where most tourists attractions are and in district 5, Cholon, the famous Chinese neighborhood, and district 4 along the river going to Saigon river opposite district 1. From another the bridge reach Phu My Hung distric 7 such as new city with restaurant and shopping small exhibition event. we are living on the island.
During the day, you can take bus 152 and in less than 10 minutes, it will drop you at the Ben Thanh market or directly at the Ben Thanh bus station, near the Reunification Palace or the War museum,... from there you can walk any where in district 1. If you keep going on that same bus, you can even reach the airport in about 50 minutes just cost 5000 vnd ( 25 cents )
It is also possible to walk over the bridge for about 1,5 km and catch bus number 1 at any time. It can bring you downtown quickly to Le Loi street near the Opera, the famous hotels, major shopping streets or going the other way, to the famous market in Cholon and the Cholon bus station. Bus number 1 from 6am to 8 :30 pm Saigon Cho Lon ( downtown to China town )
District 8 is a living district. Tourists are a rare sight. On the way to my house you will be on typical commercial street with lots of traffic, restaurants, streetfood ... You will then turn on a typical small alley that will lead you to my house. That type of pedestrian alleys form mazes between major streets in HCMC. Most people live in those mazes of alleys and you will be living on one!
Much quieter then the major streets, no cars can enter! The sound of traffic from major streets becomes distant and you can now hear the sound of people living, talking, playing. Of course, the occasionnal moto has to make its way to the major street.
You will see people walking, kids playing in front of their house, families watching tv in their living room, families with little stalls in front of their house, or a little store in their living room...
A few meters from my house, you can have nice Vietnamese coffee. Within a few minutes, you will find a nice local typical market with food stalls, clothings, food market, grocery shopping...
We want your homestay at our house to be Home Away from Home for all travellers: solo, couples and families.
If this is the type of travelling you might enjoy, do not hesitate to write to me. Each room is 19$/night for 1 person and 25$ for 2.
About home sweet home away.

My solo trip to Vietnam was special because of Pham. She and her mother made me feel like a part of her family. On a whim, she accomodated me an extra night when I needed it, she's super responsive, my room was as pictured, and she also coordinated a day tour for me which I feel was the highlight of my trip to HCMC. On my last night she took me out for a night tour of the city + introduced me to an authentic Pho dining experience, which was exciting for me to do IN Vietnam. She will make sure that her guests have an organic experience which is priceless.
Pham is a really nice lady together with her very welcoming family. On the first night we had supper near her house and drinks in D1 like the other locals. She is very flexible, allowed us to leave our luggage at her place while we went to Cambodia for 3 days, as well as on our last day while we explored the local market, cholon and the riverside near her place. We stayed for a total of 3 nights at Pham's place and it was really comfortable and convenient. For the last two nights of our stay in HCMC (Friday and Saturday), we decided to stay in Pham ngu lao as we wanted to party and didnt want to disturb Pham and family if we come back really late. All in all, it was a great experience staying with Pham! Would love to be back if we come back to HCMC! :D
Pham's home is about as authentic a Saigon residence as you will find. She lives at the end of an alley full of Saigon life. Downtown Saigon is an easy bus or taxi ride. We actually walked from her house to Chinatown for lunch and then took a taxi from there to District one for the War Remnants Museum.
The room is clean, private and very quiet.
Pham was very helpful, providing a map and coaching us on how to get around the city.
None of her family speaks English, but they were all exceedingly friendly. We made some limited smalltalk with pantomimes.
Breakfasts were really good.
By the end of our four day stay we hated to part company. It was a wonderful experience.
our time at phams place was great. she is a very warm, friendly, helpful and lovely host. we would always go there again. it's a pretty authentic vietnamese place and area. the room was very nice with an own clean bath and balcony. everything was clean and totally comfortable. we warmly recommend that place!!
Linh was a great host. Showed me around the close by market and special authentic vietnamese food. The District is great - you'll experience the real Saigon and Vietnamese life here and you get the best food and baguette here. Absolutely recommendable.
It was great staying at Pham's place. Close to the city centre, yet we could enjoy the local life -- a market nearby, a quiet inner alley where her home was. She also brought us around where we had a great time. Despite a slight mix up (which she went out of her way to fix), we had a comfortable stay at her place.
This a great place to stay in saigon. It's very much a local neighbourhood and you are living with the family. It's easy enough to get the bus from the airport or into town. Pham was great at sending bus instructions before our visit and she is a walking encyclopaedia of information about everything to do in saigon. She even took us to a very local seafood restaurant to meet her friends on our first night. The room we had was different from the one pictures and was more basic but still suited us fine. The bathroom wasn't really private but was right next door so was ok.
All in all a good place to stay, with the whole family and other guests all in the house it's hectic but friendly and fun just like HCMC!
Pham is a very sweet and helpful host. The room she provided us had a comfortable bed and pillows, towels, a wardrobe, a full body mirror, a TV and drinkable water.
She explained us with details how to get to the areas we wanted by using the bus system, which actually was very convenient, cheap and practical. Although her house is not exactly on the center, the motorbike-taxi guys we used to get there found it with no problem. The bus stop for bus No1 (connects Cholon area, where most important pagodas are, with Ben Thanh market from where you can explore the city center easily by foot) is about 10-15 minutes walking distance (from the main road near the house you just have to go straight, cross a bridge and keep walking for 200-250m). There is also a local market right around the corner with fresh produce and some local eateries where she took us for a quick lunch.
We stayed only one night on New Year's Eve, so we didn't get the chance to spend much time together. Her mom is very nice and friendly, she greeted us with cold drinks while we waited for Pham to come home during our check in. There was a clean bathroom we could use on the top floor and at night, although we came back late around 1am because we spent the New Year's celebrations in the city, we rang the bell and a girl (I guess her sister??) unlocked the door for us without complaining. Later that morning we had to catch a taxi really early for the airport (around 5:45am!), but Pham was nice enough to wake up (because she knew already we would leave at that time) and call a metered taxi for us from the company Vinasun (I suggest you using that taxi company in HCM). She was sleepy, but she was smiling and that's were we said goodbye.
In general we had a positive experience and would recommend Pham's place to anyone. The only thing is that most houses in HCM are narrow and tall, so there are staircases to go to any of the rooms, the kitchen, or the bathroom. If you have mobility problems or bad knees, then you might want to consider this.
Thank you Pham for your hospitality!
Pham was very nice and helpful with lots of useful advice about where to go and getting around Saigon. The room was perfect albeit a few flights of stairs to get to. Locationwise it is a 15 minute taxi or bus ride to the city centre, also bus no 152 is easy and cheap to arrive. Her family is very friendly and her mother helped to call a taxi at early morning send us to bus station. thanks Pham and hope to see you again. yu and steve
Room is what you are promised on this site. Nice sized room, with private bathroom, quite new and in good shape.
House is located a little bit outside of Saigon centrum, but you can reach it very easily with local bus (15mins) or taxi (3-4USD). House is in very typical vietnameese suburb, with local market just outside of the house and all restauraunts available.
Pham is young, beautiful Vietnameese woman who is really kind and polite. She is best host you can wish! She will take you for a dinners, arrange you anything you need. Her faimly is very nice and they will keep good care of you.
I can really recommend Phams room is your base in Saigon. I will difentetly come back and stay there!
