Room for rent in a three bedroom Astoria apartment. The large room features a king size bed, a large closet with shelving, large windows for great sunlight, a TV with cable and has its own lock on the door for secure privacy. The other two bedrooms are occupied by other Airbnb guests who share a bathroom and kitchen/common area with you. The kitchen is communal and has a refrigerator and a table with chairs for eating, lounging etc. The kitchen is fully equipped with all needed for cooking, eating etc. As well there is free WIFI internet throughout the house. The landlord (Elvis) lives Around the corner and is always around to meet/greet guests and take care any problems that may arise. The apt is a 10 minute walk to the N/Q Broadway Ave Subway stop and 20 minutes outside of midtown Manhattan. It is also conveniently located close to 24 hr supermarket, shops, cafes, bars and a five minute walk to The Noguchi Museum and Socrates Sculpture Park. Located in Astoria/ Long Island City, one of the safest neighborhoods in all of New York City! We also have a cleaning lady that comes regularly to clean the premises.
Things we provide: clean sheets, blankets, pillows, hand soap, toilet paper, paper towels.
In order to stay economical we do not provide towels, however, if you need them you could rent them at $3 per towel, which can be paid in cash at check in. Just please let us know in advance.
Hope to see you soon : )
Please leave the room as you found it and clean up after yourself in the common areas. There is no smoking in the house, however there is an outdoor space for smoking. As well, you are responsible to empty out your own small trash can in your bedroom if it gets full and replace the plastic bag which are located in the kitchen. The filled up garbage bag can be tossed in the garbage can outside. Please leave the place as you found it with exception to normal wear and tear.
The bedroom is large and as advertised. The bed is comfy and it's pretty spacious. It was great for the two of us. The walls are really thin so you pretty much hear everything, but most of the week we found it fine. There was definitely a full house the whole week we were there (see below about bathroom...)
Elvis is very nice and helped us get into the space before it was officially clean and ready for us.
The bathroom was a bit of a mess. The holder for the shower nozzle is broken, making showering a bit of a challenge. The hot water nozzle is also a bit wonky, water was spilling out and the handle got very hot. This should all probably be looked at. I also agree with other people that it's a lot of people staying in one place for one small bathroom... We found it challenging to get in to shower at times.
We didn't use the kitchen really. The neighborhood itself is chill and nice. About a 10-minute walk to the subway and easily accessible to LaGuardia.
I think a little TLC given to the bathroom and sprucing up the room a little and it would be a beyond excellent room for rent.
Overall our stay was good. I stayed in room 2 with my friend for 6 days, and the bedroom/bathroom/kitchen area were as pictured. The bed was huge so there was plenty of room. There was also a little closet space. Never tried the TV or wifi, so not sure how they worked(didn't need it). We had no trouble sharing the space with the other guests, everyone was very courteous. The apartment is in a pretty safe area, 10-15 min walking distance from the subway. Some nights we would take a cab if we didn't want to walk back in the dark, it was around a 6$ cab fare. It was located near plenty of little food places and general stores.
The only problem we had was with the shower, on about our third night there the hot water nozzle broke off the shower and it almost flooded. After a few minutes we were able to temporarily fix it, but the shower didn't work for the next couple days. I contacted Suzi and Elviz and two days later it was fixed, but we did have to go a couple nights without a shower. That was the only downside to our stay, but they responded and fixed it, though not as soon as we would have hoped.
Nice and clean room in a safe neighbourhood. Fully equipped kitchen and easy check-in and check-out.
At Suzi & Elvis I spent 6 nights. Contact with hosts sensational!!! We arrived with my daughter very late at 2.00 a.m. and without the problem we reached the flat, everything was as this way as in the mail. Nice and peaceful inmates. The standard appropriate to the price. Located very good - 10 minutes into the Metro - close to Manhattan. Quiet and safe surroundings. Warmly I recommend the stay in this place.
The listing was accurate and Suzi and Elvis were quick to respond when we couldn't work out the lock when we first arrived (had to wiggle it a bit). The listing was accurate however there were a couple of key things you should know before staying (they didn't bother us, but we didn't know about them until we got there).
The place is quite small and the rooms are commonly sought by couples so the whole time we were staying we had six people there. The walls are pretty thin and that's a lot of people for one toilet. Thankfully everyone we stayed with were all lovely, but it'd be pretty rough if you were staying with someone who wasn't so considerate.
Second of all, there is no linen of any kind. We knew we would have to "rent" towels separately if we wanted them, but we didn't know there would be no floor mat or tea towels.
The location was great, exactly as described and our room was a really nice size and lovely and warm even on the coldest nights, although we never worked out how to use the T.V... When we stayed you could get a 7 day unlimited travel card for subway and buses, highly recommend it. I think they did 14 days and monthly too.
The listing description is pretty accurate. I was worried because some reviews said that the place was pretty small.. but our room (room 2 I believe) was perfect for my sister and me :) It had a HUGE king size bed and a small closet for our coats and things. It's definitely not a Hilton but you aren't paying 350 a night either :) It is in a pretty small neighborhood and walking 10-15 minutes from the subway seemed scary at first for two girls to be walking alone late at night. But at the end, we didn't run into any problems :)
Nous n'avons pas rencontré Suzi et Elvis, mais tout s'est passé comme prévu. L'appartement était très bien, facile d'accès depuis le métro et pas loin de Manhattan !
