Overall Guest Satisfaction

Check In
  • The room was really nice and comfortable, and actually quite warm (we were surprised since we had read the reviews of the heating not working)

Of course I do recommend you bring an eye mask and some ear plugs...but that's just London, it's a noisy city !

We didn't really use the kitchen, and the bathroom was pretty cold, and although we both were able to have comfortable hot showers, the hot water did tend to run out... The bathroom flush was broken for the first 2 days, and then was fixed (still was a little temperamental though). Also I strongly recommend they get better wifi, the connection was very weak/slow.

On the up side, awesome location and tube station ride near by, as well as a whole range of restaurants and cafés. We were able to see a lot of London and we were in and out of the room all the time. Also the check in was smooth and directions were easy.

    5/5 for location
    3/5 for the place
    4/5 for value

  • Nico was extremely accommodating to my wife and I when we accidentally reserved the wrong dates. I would highly recommend staying with him knowing how kind he was to us!

  • We did not meet Nico in person, but a really friendly and helpful guy from the pub downstairs was well-informed about us visiting and gave us all the information we needed.

  • This is definitely a case of you get what you pay for. This place is very cheap and I needed somewhere for a short period and didn't want to pay too much, so it suited me. In hindsight I probably wouldn't choose it again but if you're travelling on the smell of an oily rag and want to stay in East End London have a look at it.

It's very basic (which is fine by me) and as others have said doesn't have central heating. The shared bathroom is very uninviting and cold and inconveniently the loo is in the same room, so a bit tricky if anyone braved the shower/bath. I think it could benefit from a cake of soap or bath gel too.

Holes in the floorboards throughout were a bit worrying for drafts and creepies, but I didn't see any furry friends. I heard the staff say they would be doing a couple of months worth of renovations in the coming months so not sure what the noise/dust levels would be like during that time. Loved the location.

  • Me and my husband stayed at the pub for 2 nights and really enjoyed it.
As mentioned in other coments, it is a busy road and it can be noisy, but it didn't bother us and we slept like rocks!
    Everything was professionally clean.
    Would stay there again!

  • Clean, comfortable and spacious accommodation. Very handy for Brick Lane.

  • We had a lovely time at the Princess Alice. The room was like the pictures you can see on the website. This type of accommodation is perfect for young travelers.
The location was good: very close to the tube station and to the different markets of the East End.

  • Thanks for accommodating our early arrival!

  • The building itself is old but the rooms themselves are clean (I saw a cleaner there everyday). However since it is an old building, the heating isn't the best in the common areas (Corridors, Bathroom, Kitchen etc.) so make sure you bring warm clothes in winter.

I never met Nico himself, but the bar staff downstairs were very helpful as we ran into some issues with the fuses.

Location of the place is great, so close to Brick Lane and lots of great shopping places. Having the Liverpool Street Tube around the corner was great too.

Overall I would say we had a good stay, but keep in mind that you get what you pay for. It's cheap accommodation in a good central area so it suited us but it would probably be better in summer.

  • Room was fine, spacious and well equipped. There were two heaters that worked flawlessly to heat up the room. Bathroom was a bit dirty, not a place to take a long hot shower, there wasn't always enough hot water. Kitchen is fine, didn't use it much though. Out room was on the street-side of the building, so earplugs were a must-have, because the sound proofing was very weak, so it almost felt like the window was open all the time.

But, if you just plan on sleeping here, the value for money is pretty decent!
