Wild west themed vintage trailer with a large deck great for sunset, sunrise and stargazing. Joshua National Tree Park view to the south. Outdoor antique claw tub with hot and cold running water on the front deck.

The space
The 1952 Shasta is a western themed trailer that has a wooden deck/front porch and sits underneath a shade structure. It overlooks a beautiful view of the national park! This is our smallest at 28’, but the most private trailer, making it perfect fit for a romantic couple. The bedroom has a full bed perfect for a couple. The sofa bed is cozy for 2 that don’t mind snuggling but our other trailers do much better for groups larger than 3.

The Sunlight Ranch and all of the trailers located on it, are powered 100% by solar energy and work congruent with the natural environment. We provide a heated mattress pad in the bedroom, a radiator heater in the living room and mini split heater pump ductless systems fir your comfort. Please do not bring, use or plug in high wattage blow dryers, heater’s-or accessories into the same outlet or at the same time as you can trip a breaker. Our permaculture features a grey water system, a greenhouse, repurposing of materials, and a regenerative lifestyle.
Sustainable is not enough anymore.
During your stay, we hope you learn something and are inspired by our bio-cooperative regenerative design!

It is the perfect place for a relaxing weekend getaway. Sunlight Ranch is an observer of Dark Sky Association regulations in order to keep light pollution to a minimum, which creates the perfect stargazing experience. We provide Dr. Bronner's or Oasis bio-compatible soap/shampoo. Please be careful and try to make sure only water and mild soap/non whiting toothpaste goes down the drain. Our Grey water system provides life giving water to our plants.

We provide extra linens for additional guests so please specify the correct number of guests in your party. Coffee, filters, sugar, cooking oil and a small variety of spices are located in the trailer. Filtered water is also included via Brita Pitcher which is in the fridge.

Welcome to Sunlight Ranch! *Formerly known as The Buzzards roost, hopefully soon you will be able to visit The Buzzards Roost Cafe during your visit... In Buck's words; "I am an inventor/builder, with a high regard for strengthening community. I am a night sky star-gazer with a well developed love of nature and wide open undeveloped spaces. Licensed permaculture certified builder with focus on distributed roof-top photonics solar energy , rain/storm water harvesting systems using seamless gutters, greywater and bio-filtration systems based on Mike Reynolds Earthship designs. During your stay
If you want to talk water, energy or permaculture, then I am your guy! I will do my best to try and make time to discuss solar power, permaculture, and any bio-cooperative designs. Interactions with guests are also limited, till things with the pandemic are much better.

If you are a musician, you can play at the open mics; Monday nights at Pappy and Harriet's in Pioneertown and Tuesdays at the Saloon in Joshua Tree. If you are an artist, just feeling the land ask us and we will give you a couple of ideas still in our pipeline and you can leave a calling card sample of your creativity on our land for future guests to enjoy. We have lots of materials to play with and the space to create.
