Sunny Orchidea in Santo Spirito

Apartment - Entire home/apt · Via del Campuccio, Florence, Tuscany 50125, Italy

Light, Space&Comfort! These are the main features of my apartment and to quote my friends: "once we are here in your apartment we never want to leave it"! Yet you will find it so easy to reach all amenities and places of cultural interest so ENJOY!

The Space

This bright and spacious one bedroom apartment is located on the 3rd floor (no elevator, 63 fine steps) of a quiet street right in the heart of the "Oltrarno", the traditionally florentine side of the city and has been fully renovated in 2009 with much taste; it is ideal to accommodate 2 sophisticated couples of adults.

There are antique furnishings mixed with modern comfy ones, hardwood floors and large windows (9 in total!) providing great natural lighting to all rooms thanks to the south-west facing orientation. There is a large dining room with a table that can sit up to 8 people on very stylish and comfortable italian design chairs and an ample sitting room.
The kitchen is fully equipped and functional made just for food lovers and there are two bathrooms, (one full and one just a w.c./sink).

The location is also fantastic, off the beaten path and yet so close to everything as it is only a stone's throw away from Piazza Santo Spirito, Boboli gardens, Palazzo Pitti & Ponte Vecchio.

You will feel like a true Italian living in this area of town, Santo Spirito is really a Village within the city of Florence, here within the city walls the neighborhood for centuries has been the location for craftsmen and still is, being the only genuine area left in town where rarely you will experience tour groups passing by. It is also known for its restaurants and bars and features a lovely market on the Piazza Santo Spirito every day and a special antique and bio-organic market respectively every 2nd and 3rd sunday of the month

Fast Internet Connection (wi-fi 20MB)- Clothes Washing machine - Kettle & toaster - Fridge and freezer - Gas Stove - Electric Oven - Dish Washer - Bed linen and towels - Water Purifier (for drinking water)

Guest Access

Located in a typical Tuscan residential neighbourhood within a 10 minute walking distance to the historic renaissance centre of Florence. This comfortable and modern furnished apartment gives guests easy walking access to; all Florence's tourist sites, numerous bars/restaurants, and local shops; butchers, bakers, grocers, wine and cheese shops, everything you would want! Since the apartment is located in a residential part of Florence, you will have access to restaurants/bars which are more authentic and less touristy and pricey than those north of the river.

The apartment itself contains the following facilities:
super fast wi-fi internet (20MB)
one american size master bedroom with king size bed
one smaller bedroom with a sofa bed which can accommodate 2 people
one bathroom with toilet, bidet, and walk in rain shower
a second half bathroom with toilet and sink
one spacious american size living room
one dining room/entrance foyer
fully fitted updated modern kitchen with all utilities and utensils provided (fridge and freezer/kettle/toaster/french-press/italian coffe maker/dishwasher/5 fires gas stove/electric oven)
water purifier for drinking water)
clothes washing machine
TV
I have a parking facility in case you are planning not to use your car during your stay!

Interaction with Guests

I respect the privacy of all my guests, and interact with them as little or as much as they want. As a minimum, I contact my guests to organize the transfer of keys and show them around the apartment and answer any questions they may have. As a Florentine who speaks fluent English and with many local contacts, I can also provide local knowledge not available in tourist hand books, and help in the event of any emergencies if required.

The Neighborhood

This part of Florence across the bridge is more of a local and "neighbourhood" feel with familiar smiling faces. The neighbourhood is close enough, but not too close to the tourist hype of Florence which is a massive bonus. It also has loads of things to do and see which allows guests to enjoy authentic Italian culture, but still be within easy walking distance of all the tourist sites, therefore giving you the best of both worlds. Being steps away from Santo Spirito, a nice piazza with bars and restaurants, it's a great place to grab a cafe/wine and people watch, enjoy the daily morning market, or grab a pizza while soaking in the sun!

Getting around

Since all the tourist sites of Florence are within comfortable walking distance of the apartment, public transit is only required for trips to neighboring cities. Florence train and main bus stations are a 20 minute walk from the apartment, and once there you can enjoy the following trips:
1 1/2 hour speed train to Rome
1 1/2 hour speed train to Milan
2 1/2 hour speed train to Naples
1 hour bus trip to Siena (medieval town in the Tuscan countryside)
1 hour local train to Pisa

Of course, for those that don’t like walking, there are several bus stops located close to the apartment which give you cheap and easy access to all of Florence.

Other Things to Note

My apartment was rented to a well traveled, young married couple (a New Yorker and Londoner) for 9 months, please read there review for a better understanding of your prospective accommodation :)

  • Thanks Alessandra for letting us be guests are your gorgeous apartment!
The place was huge and well presented. It was in such a great neighbor hood, walking distance to everything but out of the centre of the tourist areas which we were happy about.
Alessandra was a fantastic host, giving us all the Info on the apartment, the area and local places to eat and visit that we could need. Would happily stay here again and recommend it to others.

  • The apartment is very big, good and clean! There was all conveniences we need. The host is very pleasant, so you will get all information you need, including locations of restaurants in around!
The apartment is really big: there are two bathrooms, a big bedroom (with a really big bed), a sitting-room in Thai style with CD player, loudspeakers and set of audio CD. It was pleasantly to spend our evenings in this room with candlelight!
The location is great: only 7 min by walk from the famous bridge in Firenze. We highly recommend this place for your stay in Firenze!

  • Highly recommend checking out Alessandra's place in Santo Spirito! It is in an excellent location--not overrun by tourists yet conveniently located because walking distance to everything, close to piazzas, groceries, shops, and public transportation. It's also well designed and has a great eclectic style, and nice and spacious. Alessandra is also a great host who gave detailed instructions and great restaurant recommendations.

  • We had a beautiful stay in alessandras apartment. After arriving in Florence we had a warm welcome by alessandra. She is a friendly and hearty woman. She showed us her beautiful apartment and explained us everthing we had to know. The apartment has nice, old furnitures, interessting pictures, a modern kitchen and bathroom with an amazing shower. The kitchen is well appointed. You’ll find everything you need. The most of all we loved the toaster. ;) The apartment is well located. It was an amazing stay in Florence. Thank you so much. Hope to see you again.

  • This was the best place to be for our weekend in Florence, in the middle of the nice quarter of Santo Spirito. We would very much like to stay there once for a much longer time just to experience Florence apart from being a tourist. Actually, we didn't feel like tourists as Alessandras flat is so personally equipped with everything you could dream of! It is so much better than any luxury hotel! Best bar nearby: Cafè degli Artigiani!
We thank you very much for your confidence and look forward to coming back quite soon!

  • Alessandra and her place exceeded all expectations we had. The place itself is huge, charming, and provides you with all amenities needed for a comfortable stay in Florence. Alessandra was there to meet us upon arrival, was so welcoming and chatted with us for quite some time while answering an abundance of questions we had about the surrounding area.

We cannot say enough about Alessandra and her place and have our fingers crossed that we could stay there again during our next trip.

    Thanks so much Alessandra!

About
I have travelled a lot in the past and what I loved most was getting to know the people from the country I was visiting. I learnt that one of the best ways to do that is by staying at local's houses! So here's why I rent my apartment, since I settled back in Florence I find most rewarding having this beautiful apartment to share with visitors and I am lucky to be able to meet so many nice, interesting people!
