Picked this place as a last minute New Year's Eve romantic getaway for my boyfriend. Found it to be very clean and well kept. Would recommend to friends
We were in need of a quiet get away from urban life and this was the perfect place! For a reasonable price, we had our own suite fully equipped with everything we needed -bath tub, large comfy bed, heated floors, kitchenette, and a beautiful sunrise! Our hosts, Marty and Ava, were warm and welcoming. They have some really incredible art work and a gallery next door to the cottage. The food was delicious, organic, and we had more than enough!
Justin, Marty and Ava are basically the coolest people you might ever meet. I arrived in a daze from my first motorcycle trip and they fortified me with a local Island brew and good conversation. Their house is incredible. Lots of friendly pets, hummingbirds, crows, deer, rabbits, snakes, I saw it all.
I originally booked the cottage for 1 night but forgot it was Canada Day weekend so I ended up in a separate room near their art gallery, with my own bathroom, and a super cozy bed! The person who booked the cottage instead invited me to sit by the fire pit that night, after I got back from the beach, and we listened to the waves while looking at the brightest Milky Way band I've seen in years.
The next day I got to watch some blacksmithing being done. Unique and interesting artwork, inspiring company and spectacular nature. Thank you!
Wonderful private accommodation and lovely welcoming hosts, will definitely be back!
We were very pleasantly surprised at the beautiful view and easy accessibility (and seclusion) of the place. Justin was a great host! Fresh baked bread and great breakfast fixings. We'd definitely return.
We had a wonderful time at the Gilbertsons B&B in Shirley. There's one place there attached to the house and is small but it was all we needed. It is very clean (like new) inside and outside and quiet.
The food provided to us matched our dietary needs and was very fresh (especially the granola). The Gilbertsons are very friendly and interesting to talk to as they are blacksmiths. A lot of their work is on display in a showroom which is really cool to look at.
The property provides a nice view and easy access down to a park and ocean beach (a couple blocks walking distance to there). A good restaurant is just down the street the other way (about a kilometer distance) that gives you a good view for whale watching when they're there.
Overall, we had a lovely time there and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful time away from the city that's clean and has great hospitality and kind hosts.
The reservation was canceled 10 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
