About This Listing
I have a large sea view apartment with high ceilings by the seaside in Hove, a town next to Brighton.
The apartment is in an area full of cafes, shops and restaurants. Hove has plenty of charity shops, vintage and antique shops.
There is a leisure centre just next door with a large swimming pool, tennis court, gym and a great long promenade along the seafront for those who love running and cycling.
Along the seafront there are 3 great safe playgrounds for younger children.
The Beach is just a minute away and a great place in the evening for barbecue. Hove has a small Saturday market at Hove´s main street; George street where you can get organic food and fresh flowers.
The living room have access to a sea facing balcony with morning and midday sun.
The bedroom room is in the back, quiet, with evening sun. Double bed. The back faces a garden (no access).
The kitchen has a small balcony/fire exit with place for chairs.
That side has a wonderful afternoon, evening sun.
It is a 2 bedroom flat, but my sons room will be closed off. I will store things in that room.
The mattress from that room can be used in another room. Children are welcome and with no extra charge.
The train station in Hove is 10 minutes away. Brighton is just 20 minutes seafront walk.
London is an hour away and southerns railways has good deals. See more below.
The nearest airport is Gatwick and has a direct trains, 25 minutes. If you come to Heathrow, I recommend direct bus, 2 :15 min with National express to Brighton.
It is a great place for long country walks, easy access to the Downs and Sevens sisters National parks(website hidden).
I live and work in London every other week.
I spend summer holiday in Sweden.
I have no Car- so I have no parking!
There are cheap, but for short stay only parking nearby at King Alfred Leisure.
Otherwise check these out: (website hidden)
OR join a city car club, plenty of cars around, even on my street.
I have one bicycle and two helmets which you are welcome to borrow.
Interaction with Guests
I am away either in Sweden or London so likely I won't meet you but my flat carer Liz and George will see you and show you around.
There are great public transport just up the road. Buses to Brighton centre leaves frequently where you can range to take public buses to The Downs or Sevens Sisters for example.
On the Kings way the bus 700 can take you faster to Brighton or to the other way, to Shoreham, Worthing and Littlehampton.
Other Things to Note
It is a good idea to buy a discount card; Network railcard. That makes every travel, and you can go to many small villages around in the area with that, 30% off. But from Gatwick it is the same price about 9 pounds anyway (no discount under £10). It is good to buy in advance for your trip to Hove from Gatwick and pick up at a collect service machine as they are much quicker. You then use your visa card which with you bought the ticket. Then when you arrive in Hove you can buy a network card, which is including a form you have to fill in.
Get a online account on southern railway and buy your advance tickets online. It can cost £5 to go to London..very cheap.
The train you will take from Gatwick is the train towards Little hampton, pls note you are in the right train section, or go to Brighton and change to Hove, one stop. Or do what I do sometimes, go to Brighton, take taxi and ask the driver to drive along the seaside to the house. Beautiful.
No ball games inside as I have plenty of art on the walls!
Please be considered towards the neighbours. The living room has no carpet.
No late night parties with loud music please.
The balcony door should not be left open when you leave the house and please remove the keys from the door when you are not in, to prevent burglars.
our hostess annika could not have been more helpful and welcoming -
good location in hove right near sea (you can see it from the little sunny balcony) - very pleasant and entertaining bike/walk along the promenade into brighton
the flat was spotless, comfortable and a nice space to be in
Annika's flat is a great place to stay when you are in the Brighton and Hove area. It's a great location only a 3 minute walk to 3 separate buses going to the centre of Brighton (bus takes 6-7 minutes at most) and just 200 metres from the coast which is great for walks for the promenade. It is also just across the road from the King Alfred Leisure centre which is a great facility with a brilliant kids pool. Our 18 month old loved it. Hove itself has a great range of restaurants and Annika's recommendations were spot on: The Ginger Pig, The Connaught and Hove Tandoori were the best. The apartment itself is very clean with a real funky layout and decor. The walls are adorned with a lot of interesting artworks which really adds to the place. The only negative from our stay was that the WiFi was down during our time there but I'm sure it will be fixed soon. Would recommend the flat to all on Airbnb.
A great flat and a great host. Annika organised everything perfectly and made everything easy for us.
The flat is in a great location, and gets great light in the morning for the front balcony.
Spotlessly clean and has everything we needed. We'd happily come again.
Lovely apartment, roomy and light, close to the sea front. Photos accurately represent the apartment. Close to shops and restaurants in Hove, large supermarket just up the street. Well appointed kitchen.
If you have a car, parking may be an issue - a lot of local parking restrictions. Check this out with Annika first. We were also unable to connect to the wifi, hopefully just an isolated problem.
I am a cyclist.. so yes, I don't really think about parking. I just got my driving license last year as a 48 year old! I always suggest to people to join the car club "city car" as there is several cars on my street and nearby.
I will ad though, thanks, on the site more parking options, I found some private ones.
The wifi is still dead and I was very surprised coming back to a completely dead wifi. They, the supplier, refuse to send an engineer as the blame it on a Public telenet water damage..This has never happen before but apparently there has been a a big storm. Very sorry for that. I am too very depended on wifi. They said they will fix it the 22nd of august… that is almost a month not working.. Very, very sorry for that.
Annika has been very helpful and given us many useful recommendation about shops, restaurants and what to do. The apartment was suitable and we appreciated the attachment close to the beach and the balcony with the seaview. Calm and peaceful area. The bedroom was situated to the backyard, which give you a god sleep.
Annika's was a fantastic host, and everything worked out perfectly. We felt very welcome and very much at home. And the flat is beautiful.
