Interaction with Guests

It depends on the guests. Some of our guests like to interact a lot with us (and we love it), and others mostly like to do their own thing (yep, we love that, too!) Our goal is for a guests to be happy and comfortable during their stay at Cuisine Miguel.

The Neighborhood

I am supposed to write here what I like most about the neighborhood around our home. Tropical breezes, beautiful view of the ocean and island of Chora off our front porch and the guest's bedroom, waking up to the sound of a multitude of local birds, squirrels, geckos, and of the Howler Monkeys that come to feast on the Mango Trees in our yard.

Getting around

Our beachfront home is in a short walking distance to local restaurants, galleries, supermarkets, surf and paddle board lessons and kayaking. You absolutely do not need a car during your stay here in Samara, but we have ample parking in our driveway, just beside the hosue.

Other Things to Note

Miguel is an excellent Chef. We usually have Sunday Dinners, kind of Family Style. We typically serve between 3-12 people. Either your own private dinner, or we may have a few more people from different places in the world join us. The cost is usually $10 USD per person, bring your own beverages. The price varies, of course, depending on the menu choice. More intimate dinners may be arranged with Miguel on other evenings of the week. Those prices usually range from about $15 pp to $25 pp, again, depending on the menu. For Sunday dinners, the first person or couple or family to book, usually makes the basic menu request: seafood, beef, pork, poultry, vegetarian..... Then, Miguel shops on Sunday morning for the freshest supply of each and makes his decision based on the initial request. Often, a typical Sunday Dinner includes all of the above. Come Hungry! Here is one of our reviews of Miguel's Sunday Dinners:

From Andy Cary:

Cuisine Miguel is a culinary experience that you will never forget and will leave you happy and more than satisfied. Each course delivers sensational flavors and will literally have you begging to know what’s in there that makes it taste so good. For anyone who meets Miguel, it’s no secret that it’s a combination of culinary creativity, impeccable attentiveness, and a warm heart that creates a memorable evening and all around good time.

  • This space was very close to the beach. Unfortunately it is still very much so under construction, which is not that clear from the pictures. Miguel food was very delicious.

    Response from Miguel:

Yes, so sorry for the construction. The "two week job to rebuild the porch roof" was supposed to be completed 3 weeks ago. Grrr. Finally, they are almost done with it. : )

  • This was an interesting experience. The place was a little difficult to find, eventualy we did. Miguel was very hospitable, offered us the ONLY beer allowed in the house, Pilsen, delicious! The room was pretty clean, not the most comfortable bed, no AC so it was a little warm. It was an interesting experience, Miguel is a character, Latina (the dog) is as sweet as can be. Couldn't get a better location, it's steps from the beach and a short walk on the beach ot town.

  • A friend and I stayed with Sarah and Jack for a couple of days in Samara (Miguel was away in Europe, but I hear his food is great!) and we had a great time. They were both very helpful, full of advice, and let us feel right at home. The room was a little hot at first, but they gave us a second fan to help cool it down. And the location can't be beat - we found ourselves even eating breakfast on the beach every morning.

  • Sarah was a wonderful host for a wonderful house right on the beach (miguel was out of town). I highly recommend this place for a real costa rican beach experience!

  • Wonderfull! It is the paradise! We had such a great time with Sarah and Jack. Unfortunately we couldn't meet Miguel as he was in Germany on holiday. We stayed in their lovely home for 7 days and enjoyed the stay so much!!! Sarah and Jack are very welcoming hosts & were very helpful. We were supposed to stay 3 days there and we prolonged it to 7 days. The house is just in front of the beach, it is quite and the view is beautiful. It is all as in the picture shown. Sarah has given us coffee, a blanket for the beach, we got Jacks bike and before we left Samara, Sarah even offered us to do our laundry there. We have now new friends in Samara- thank you guys!!

  • Superbe endroit !

  • I was fortunate to stay with Miguel and Sarah for 4 weeks, almost the entire month of April, 2014. I felt very fortunate to get to share their home during this time. The house is ideally located, next to the beach, and a quick walk to restaurants and the rest of Samara. Sarah was always available for any questions, and offered very helpful advice and guidance. Miguel cooks amazing dinners on Sunday nights. Sarah's son Jack is 13, and he was also a great host, and he helped me relearn my backgammon skills. The room is a very large room, with plenty of storage and a private bath. Just as pictured. I don't think I could have possibly picked a better place to stay, or found more welcoming hosts.

  • We had a wonderful stay with Miguel and Sarah! They were gracious and welcoming hosts, and were very helpful with suggestions and ideas about anything we wanted to do. Fun first visit to Samara- would definitely go back again!

About
Hola! Miguel is originally from Germany. He moved to Playa Samara in 2008. Sarah has been coming to Samara since August 2011. Sarah moved here from Florida in Feb. 2013. We both LOVE it here. We have met so many wonderful people from all over the world. Miguel is a chef and guitar player. Our favorite night of the week is Sunday. That's when we have our special Sunday Dinner. It is usually for about 8 people. Miguel usually prepares a 5 course meal, and then we sit around the front porch playing guitar and talking. House Guests who wish to join in on the meal usually pitch in for groceries to cover the cost of the meal, and they bring their own beverages. We have a dog (Latina) and a cat (Flo). I'd like to say that we rescued them, but, actually, they rescued us. They are "beach pets"and typically come and go as they please. Both are very friendly and sweet. We'd love to meet you! Mi Casa es su Casa! Hasta luego!
