Interaction with guests

It depends on the guests. Some of our guests like to interact a lot with us (and we love it), and others mostly like to do their own thing (yep, we love that, too!) Our goal is for a guests to be happy and comfortable during their stay at Cuisine Miguel. Feel free to ask us any questions before or during your stay with us.

Other things to note

Miguel is an excellent Chef. We usually have Sunday Dinners, kind of Family Style. We typically serve between 3-12 people. Either your own private dinner, or we may have a few more people from different places in the world join us. The cost is usually $12 USD per person, bring your own beverages. The price varies, of course, depending on the menu choice. More intimate dinners may be arranged with Miguel on other evenings of the week. Those prices usually range from about $15 pp to $25 pp, again, depending on the menu. For Sunday dinners, the first person or couple or family to book, usually makes the basic menu request: seafood, beef, pork, poultry, vegetarian..... Then, Miguel shops on Sunday morning for the freshest supply of each and makes his decision based on the initial request. Often, a typical Sunday Dinner includes all of the above. Come Hungry! Here is one of our reviews of Miguel's Sunday Dinners:

From Andy Cary:

Cuisine Miguel is a culinary experience that you will never forget and will leave you happy and more than satisfied. Each course delivers sensational flavors and will literally have you begging to know what’s in there that makes it taste so good. For anyone who meets Miguel, it’s no secret that it’s a combination of culinary creativity, impeccable attentiveness, and a warm heart that creates a memorable evening and all around good time.

Miguel & Sarah were great hosts! Very friendly & told us lots about the area. Sunday dinner is delicious! Right in the beach. The family is there if you need them, but let you sit, relax, & read without interruption. Highly recommend!

Miguel, Sarah, and Jack were sweet, thoughtful, engaging hosts. Their beach location was stellar: quiet, but thoroughly immersed in their community. Plenty of room to be the traveler you'd like to be with their cozy accommodation as a base camp. They demonstrate a quiet, yet palpable, pride in their domestic life - and in the natural environment - that we found inspiring. Miguel's Sunday Dinner fed our ceviche addiction and our love of lively table talk. It was a pleasure to stay with them!

Sarah and her son made us feel home right away when we arrived. She made sure we have everything we need, she even bought a fan to make the unexpectedly hot nights better. The house is right on the beach which is very convenient. Thank you again for hosting us, highly recommended!

This is an excellent location and the hosts are very good at accommodating guests. Its an excellent value and I would have stayed longer if I did not have reservations somewhere else already.

Be ready to sweat because you will do a lot of that staying at Cusine Miguel. I have lived in Florida for the past 30 years and I am used to hot weather but that room is ridiculously hot with no breeze and fans that you can't feel when trying to sleep. You can definitely cool off in the shower especially since there is no hot water. Best advice save your money and book at another place. We paid for 3 nights and left after the first night. Will not recommend staying here.

Response from Miguel:
Yes, Costa Rica is hot, especially in the Dry Season. No, we do not have air conditioning, as I am certain you do in your home in Florida. Your ceiling fan in your room is 2 months old. If you closed your curtains, then, yes, you would not have felt or heard the ocean breeze. I was not home, but I wish you had asked Miguel for another fan. We have several in the house and 3 brand new ones. But, you didn't say anything and left at 6 AM w/o saying goodbye, even though Miguel was awake with the lights and tv on in his room. You mentioned to us later that you left Samara to return to Atenas where it is cooler. I suggest to anybody interested in staying at Cuisine Miguel to read several reviews to get a clear and honest picture of what your are booking. : )

Hola! Miguel is originally from Germany. He moved to Playa Samara in 2008. Sarah has been coming to Samara since August 2011. Sarah moved here from Florida in Feb. 2013. We both LOVE it here. We have met so many wonderful people from all over the world. Miguel is a chef and guitar player. Our favorite night of the week is Sunday. That's when we have our special Sunday Dinner. It is usually for about 8 people. Miguel usually prepares a 5 course meal, and then we sit around the front porch playing guitar and talking. House Guests who wish to join in on the meal usually pitch in for groceries to cover the cost of the meal, and they bring their own beverages. We have a dog (Angel) and a cat (Flo). I'd like to say that we rescued them, but, actually, they rescued us. They are "beach pets"and typically come and go as they please. Both are very friendly and sweet. We'd love to meet you! Mi Casa es su Casa! Hasta luego!
