A large place with large rooms and a nice view. Very friendly host. Perfect for family or business.
A great aspect of this rental is that it is located just outside of the downtown core of Nelson which is nice if you want to be close but not right in the center (it is quite a walk up/ down a big hill into town so not ideal for walking into town). Also, the living room and kitchen are open concept and lined with windows that take advantage of the beautiful view.
Some of the downsides to this rental were that the kitchen was not very well equipped to make basic meals. Things like a strainer and tin foil would have been really useful. Also, there were not any oils or spices in the kitchen (which had been advertised) and therefore I did not bring any from home and ended up having to buy them for our short stay.
Finally we did not feel that the owner of this rental clearly articulated their expectations and policies for the space upfront. Despite having said the quite hours were between 10pm and 7am it became clear that they had a preference for renters who would make little to no noise during their stay. We were also told after checking-in that any guest who stayed in the accommodation after 10pm would be considered extra guests and charged. This lack of clarity lead to us leaving this rental early and finding other accommodation with policies more in-line with a typical rental agreement.
I unfortunately had to ask Adrienne and her group to check out early due to non compliance of house rules - noise and extra guests. After communicating to Adrienne that extra guests need to be gone by 10 pm (for noise and licensing reasons), she brought back four extra drunk friends around 230 am. The noise not only disturbed us, but also one of our neighbours. Asking for the common courtesy of quiet in the middle of the night, is not unreasonable. I was given no assurance that she would comply with the house rules after we spoke, and her group was asked to leave the following morning. Clear house guidelines are provided to our guests in the house manual and in communication prior to a guests' stay. It is noted on airbnb that extra guests are an extra charge per night and that we are licensed to host a maximum of four guests. The kitchen is well equipped and it is noted in the house manual that if guests are in need of anything/can't find something, to simply ask.
Perfectly positioned for exploring downtown Nelson or the surrounding mountains. Only 25 minutes to the Whitewater ski resort. If you're looking for a relaxing getaway, this is the place. Enjoy great views of Kootenay Lake from a quiet, uphill neighborhood.
Our host made us feel welcomed. The space was great for grandparent time with the grandchild. Definitely a kid-friendly home, complete with kid toys and a great fenced in backyard. The house is at the top of the hill in Nelson and the view is simply fantastic. The daytime views include the whole valley including the river below, while the night is rich with stars starting with great sunsets and sunrises. The wood stove was an added bonus.
This space was perfect for my 9-year-old son and I, but would have worked just as well for a family of four- we had ample space. Everything was very clean and comfortable, the trampoline, backyard, and kids toys were a huge bonus, keeping my son peacefully entertained after our long trek to Nelson. The view was outstanding, the beds were comfortable, the area was nice and quiet, and the house was easy to find. We would definitely book again for a future trip to visit Nelson!
The house is just great!
Very nicely decorated, well equipped, large and really beautiful overall. Just as the listing suggest, it is located in a very quiet place with fantastic views. We had a great time in Nelson, and this was partially thanks to the house :-)
