We love the quiet, laid back pace of life in the Richmond. There are numerous parks nearby to explore, including Lands End and Golden Gate Park and we are able to watch stunning sunsets at the beach . In addition there are many delicious and affordable restaurants are sure to satisfy everyones taste buds--you can find everything from Burmese to Chinese (including the famous Shanghai Dumpling King), Moroccan to Italian.
Parking is easy to find in our neighborhood and you can easily park in our driveway. There are many bus lines within 1-3 blocks, including express buses to get downtown more quickly.
We live in a quiet neighborhood--please be mindful of the neighbors and keep the sounds to a respectable level
We very much enjoyed Marcella's house, which was tastefully and comfortably furnished with its own garden and garage. It was conveniently located not further than two and a half blocks to three bus lines going to the city centre. A well stocked grocery store is also nearby. Marcella was very responsive to all our questions and answered them promptly and enthusiastically. On our arrival everything was set up for us, including a bottle of wine and snacks. An excellent place to stay in a pleasant neighbourhood in San Francisco.
Marcella and Tyler were really engaged throughout the entire experience. Their communication regarding logistical details and timing was solid, and they greeted us warmly at the door to give us a tour of their home before they left town for a few days. If we had any questions during our stay they were very responsive.
They offered us the use of their stellar vinyl record collection, bikes, surfboards and wetsuits. The house has fine woodwork and furniture throughout, with a long, well crafted dining room table that's hard to forget. We had chocolate chip pancakes around it one morning!
The back patio/garden area is a gorgeous place to sit and reflect with a cup of coffee in the morning or gather at night with a few friends and a bottle of wine to tell stories under the lights they've strung up from the house.
Their location offers easy access to the bustle of the rest of the city but you're firmly situated within the peace and quiet of the Richmond District. And of course, Golden Gate Park is just a couple blocks away and the Presidio isn't very far at all so there are some really nice walks to take.
I'd say as a space it has a very tranquil, meditative, and restorative vibe that makes for a great place to come home to after a day of exploring the city. A perfect base camp to be reenergized in.
The host was very helpful and communicative and really made an effort to be sure we were happy. The listing was as expected. The house and garden were decorated with a good taste and there were everything one needs, even bicycles. The Golden gate park was within walking distance and the seaside with beatiful beaches within a short bike ride. However, because of the famous Fog of San Francisco we were not able to use the garden and beach as much as we hoped. There are several shops and restaurants within walking distance, however the closest were mainly chinese. There is a great playground with sportsfacilities (tennis, basketball...) within a short walk. The place is great for adults and families with children.
Marcella was very responsive throughout our entire time planning our trip. She even welcomed into her home with a loaf of local SF Sourdough Bread! Her house is very roomy and quiet. We used this house as only a place to sleep for Outside Lands, but we wish we could have spent even more time in the house because of the vast record collection she has, as well as the beautiful back deck/garden. This house could sleep 4 people easily as there are many rooms in this house for privacy. Thank you again Marcella for having such an amazing house in such an amazing location, we highly recommend you!
We had a wonderful long stay in this beautiful house - comfortable, clean, spacious and full of character with parking, all the amenities, sunny rooms and a glorious garden and patio. We recommend this rental highly to anyone visiting San Francisco as it is next to Golden Gate Park and 5 mins from the beach, in the calm of Richmond District. Our hosts were exemplary.
About the Host, Marcella
I'm a New York transplant who feel in love with San Francisco my first trip out when I was 12 years old. Fast forward many years later and I am happy to call this beautiful city my home. Today I teach middle school science and love working with adolescents. In my free time, I love to get out and explore the city, go to concerts, urban hikes, bike around, have dinner parties with friends. My fiance is also a teacher and we love to travel on our breaks, which is what brought us to Airbnb.
