The apartment is on the bottom floor of this house. There is a private entrance from the patio on the left.
Forget the South or West coast! Too crowded, too hot, very noisy, dogs barking all night long, eroding beaches and way too expensive tourist trap.
This spacious and clean house is located on the south east part of the island known for its cooling, Atlantic breeze. It's walking distance to the 7 most beautiful, uncrowded beaches. With its rugged, beautiful scenery the quiet and friendly Belair neighborhood is a welcome change from the hustle and bustle of the south and west coasts.
The apartment is on the ground floor of the brand new house. It has a private entrance from the garden, includes a living room, fully equipped kitchen and 2 full bathrooms as well as a luxurious outdoor shower with rain shower head.
ADDITIONAL AMENITIES: Access to a wash machine. 2 boogie boards, 2 bikes, 2 yoga matts, cell phone with a local SIM card, beach chairs, safety deposit box, free internet, outdoor brick grill, outdoor hot & cold totally private shower.
LOCATION: The home is located in a quiet residential neighborhood and is a 5 minute walk to the nearest beach. However the best beaches are 15-20 minutes away or 5-10 minutes by car. They include:
- Bottom Bay Beach (our favorite!) - Crane Beach (very popular 5 star hotel, with great views) - Foul Bay Beach - Sam Lords Castle Beach - Plus a few more secret beaches, which we're happy to share with you!
15 minute drive to the airport 20 minutes to Oistins Fish Market or the night life area: St. Lawrence Gap
ACT LIKE A LOCAL: We have been coming to Barbados to many years now and are familiar with the best beaches and sight seeing. We have a map upon request, which highlights the best places to see. There is a small "Belair Variety Store" that has the basic groceries. Large and very well equipped Emerald City Supermarket is at Six Roads, 10 min away. Car is handy but not necessary. The bus stop is 2 min walk and the fare is $1.-.
The location is unique because it is away from the touristy areas of Barbados. Instead you'll find stunning beaches that have very few visitors but plenty of fresh coconuts to eat and drink. :)
Washing machine, 2 bikes, 2 sets of professional snorkeling gear, 3 boogie boards, sun tent, 2 yoga matts and mp3 player.
Interaction with Guests
My house manager Vicky lives right next door. She will take care you while I am away. I am online all day long anyway, so I will be the first one you can contact. The internet is fast and reliable.
The location is unique because it is away from the touristy areas of Barbados. You'll find stunning beaches that have very few visitors but plenty of fresh coconuts to eat and drink. :) No need for AC. With the cooling atlantic breeze you may not even turn the ceiling fan on. This breeze also keeps mosquitos away. There are insect screens in all the windows anyway.
Car is of course very handy. I can help you with better rates. Otherwise buses are the real Bajan experience. They leave every hour, on the hour, well, give it 5 min after the hour. Coming back from the south may take longer, because of the traffic. Be prepared to wait. This is Barbados ;-) Not Germany :-)))
•Garbage & Recycling
-Please dispose of garbage in securely closed plastic bags, in the blue bin on the outside of the fence. Please do so every other day to avoid insect in the (website hidden) fat, coffee grounds and any solid kitchen waste should be disposed of in the garbage not down the sink. This creates serious plumbing problems.
-There is a large, white plastic bin for all plastic NO STYROFOAM behind the rail of the ramp outside. Please rinse all containers before you throw it in. Do not leave any garbage behind and leave the sink empty when you are checking out! Vicky does not always clean the same day and leaving any leftover food attracts insect.
-Another useful tip to avoid insect: rinse all bottles before disposing.
•Phones & Internet
-House phone in your bedroom is free of charge for all local calls, your number is (phone number hidden)
-WiFi network is “teta”. Password is “teta0159”.
•Safety & Security
-Place all your valuables into the safe deposit box. Instructions on how to re-set the lock is attached to back side of the picture frame that covers the safe.
-For your security and to avoid water damage: windows and doors must be securely closed before leaving the property. Even on clear days, heavy downpours of rain accompanied by gusty winds can occur.
-Use caution when using the oven! It’s not automatic! It must be lit manually with a lighter.
-Jana has no responsibility for persons or belongings.
-Security Alarm can be set only when the front middle window and the patio doors are CLOSED! After you set the alarm, you will have 2 min to open the door again and exit the house. To arm: 15912, to disarm: 15911.
-In most of the winter months the sea on this side of the island is turbulent and should always be approached with utmost caution. There are no lifeguards.
-Shark Hole is safe and so is the Crane beach, the only beach with a lifeguard. When returning from the beach, please, splash your feet with the hose provided at the ramp leading to your patio. The outdoor shower also provides refreshing rinse to remove sand and salt before entering the apartment.
-Water and electricity are expensive resources on our little island. Please use responsibly and be sure to turn off all lights, fans and faucets when not in use. Lights on patio should be left on if you expect to return home after dark. Note: charges for water and electricity in excess of the charges for normal usage will be the responsibility of the guest.
-are in the storage behind the house, password for the two small locks: SHOP and HELP (marked red), the 3rd lock connecting the 2 bikes has a password: TETY, pump, key for seat adjustment and WD40 are in the plastic bag hanging above them. Please put it back in the bag after use and cover the bikes with the plastic,
-lock them together everywhere and splash them with the hose when you get back!
•Snorkeling Gear, Boogie Boards
-are located in the storage under the stairs, please rinse them in fresh water before you return them
We recomend to anyone Jana's house. Is clean, well furnished, quiet, good neighborhood, not even mosquitos! Jana os very kind, wrote us many times to know if ererything was ok. Vicky, her concierge ia very helpfull, quick in answers our questions. Gave us many good directions.
Dès notre arrivé, Jana nous a très bien accueillie. La maison était magnifique et très propre. Jana nous a très bien informée et conseillée sur les endroits à voir et les choses à faire. Le quartier était très paisible et sécuritaire. La demeure était à proximité de belles plages. Nous avons même vu quelques singes. À notre prochain voyage à la Barbade, nous retournerons chez Jana!
The apartment is very nice and well equipped. Vicky, the house manager was very helpful and caring. She even made it possible to stay one night before our booking in the house!
the neighborhood is quiet and safe. Unfortunately it is essential to have a car to get to the grocery stores and the beaches. The busstop is close but the timetable is not regular, especially after 6pm. The available bikes are not roadworthy.
The beaches nearby the house are beautiful but very rough, with strong flow and huge waves. Even for good swimmers dangerous.
Jana did care a lot about us and was very lovely. She gave us a lot of information and recommandations about the island. Unfortunately we did not met.
we would absolutely recommend the house to everybody who wants to enjoy the quietness and harmony of the Barbados hinterland.
La villa è nella parte atlantica dell'isola in una zona residenziale molto tranquilla. La spiaggia più vicina è a meno di 2 minuti a piedi (fronte casa) o a 5 minuti in macchina (Crane beach). Si può raggiungere la casa sia con i bus pubblici o con la macchina in affitto. A 500 mt dalla casa c'è la fermata del bus per la città. Consiglio di affittare la macchina perché la villa si trova distante da supermercati o altri luoghi di interesse mentre con la macchina si riesce a raggiungere ogni punto dell'isola in meno di mezz'ora. Villa ben arredata e completa di ogni comfort. Giardino ben curato e parcheggio per l'autovettura. Jana è stata fantastica, super disponibile e sempre gentile.
This place was great! Perfect for what we needed. (2 adults and 2 kids). Jana and her property manager Vicky were very welcoming and took care of all my questions and concerns. Definitely a 2 thumbs up!!
Everything was perfect. The house clean and most of the daily items are there. The aerea are very quite and we enjoyed it, sitting every evening outside, listen to the Sound of the waves, drinking a "Banks" an chilling.
Jana has all the way along been a incredibly attentive and responsive host. It was therefore no surprise when we arrived at the house it easily beat our expectations. The setting is spectacular, the house is beautiful, the grounds are fantastic and Lulu the house manager could not have been more helpful and lovely. I would advise getting a hire car if you want to make the most of this location (especially if you have a young family). It's still a great staging post for the intrepid traveler who can brave Bajan public transport. The highlight for us was a beautiful little atlantic beach which is great for swimming and not really known to tourists - make sure you look it up :-)
All in all this was one of the best holidays me and my family have had and this was due in large part to Jana, Lulu and Janas amazing house. We shall be returning once we have saved up a few pennies........
