You will love this little jewel in Castelfranco di Sopra. This 390-year old newly renovated apartment (documents date back to 1623) leans on the pillars of a baroque little church.

The Space

The main apartment (we like to call it Arnolfo) is 60 square meters on second floor, 2 bedrooms, (sleeps 4), and includes a kitchen, bathroom, living room with balcony to check out the villagers from above, and a large furnished terrace for sitting alfresco and star-gazing.
SAN FILIPPO also exclusively available for parties of 2 and 3.
That includes one bedroom, a sofabed/wardrobe room, the Artists' room across the hall, and kitchen on the ground floor. (San Filippo actually is larger than Arnolfo, but some of its rooms are across the hall).

MONNALISA WALK, COOKING CLASS AND OTHER FUN THINGS TO DO, in detail, to be found in the Hospitality book of each apartment.

Guest Access

Wifi in the apartment, free parking across the street.

Interaction with Guests

Andrea and Paolo will greet you to make sure all is just right, then will offer tons of suggestions on how to make the best of your stay, and will be reachable in case of need.

The Neighborhood

It is the perfect starting place for an exploration of real Tuscany (Firenze, Cortona, Arezzo, Chianti).
Also an ideal retreat for the inspired artist, a writer longing for "a room of one's own", the weary businessman, the family with children determined to stay clear of the touristy crowds. The town is a total charmer: enclosed in the ancient walls of the old castle, it offers shelter from the real world, yet contains all the treats you would want, beginning with top notch cafe', small restaurants, homey pizzerias, and pastry right at your doorstep. Weekly veggie market, hills and olive groves all around. The backdrop of the world famous MONNALISA is a depiction of what you'll see looking out of your balcony.

  • Fantastic place, real feeling of Italy in a very sweet town. Before our trip Majla answered all our questions and on arrival Andrea took the time to give us some advice about the places to visit. We've had a great week!

  • We would like to take this opportunity to thank Andrea for the great accommodation and the wonderful time we had again in Castelfranco di Sopra thank you. A really nice and quiet town with very nice residents. Due to the location it is ideal for trips to Florence, Siena, Pisa and Livorno. Moreover Tips from Andrea for excursions in the area who were very helpful. Greetings from Hamburg, Henrike, Daniel, Jan and Lilly. We will come back.

  • We had a great time during our stay in Castelfranco di Sopra. Majla and her cousin, Andrea, were more than kind and they helped us a lot.
Andrea taught us a great pasta recipe and I can say that this become my favorite food.

Thank you, Majla, Andrea, Luka, Dora! Thank you all for making our holiday in Italy a place to remember!

  • I stayed with 3 friends in an apartment in Castelfranco di Sopra near Tuscany through Majila and her cousin Andrea. Unfortunately I was unable to meet either as majila was on holiday and Andrea working away. However, despite this, our experience was still wonderful. Majila made sure that everything in the apartment was ready, and Andrea messaged us a list of things we should do in Tuscany (of which we did almost all of it except the Agroturismo due to not having enough time! Andrea's friend Paulo met us in Castelfranco, and welcomed us into his home. We had such a positive experience from both majila and Andrea (via email and text) and Paulo in person that we all want to return for another visit. The apartment when we arrived was spotless. We were given some local wine and other treats on arrival. The beds were comfortable. The shower was powerful. The kitchen was well equipped. There is nothing negative I can say about our stay. Thank you very much for everything.

  • This was our first Airbnb experience and we loved everything about this property, it is tastefully refurbished, very clean, comfortable and well equipped but the location is to die for. From the start Majla was so very helpful and we felt confident that we would be happy with our decision to book this lovely apartment. If you want to be away from the busy tourist towns and cities then Castelfranco di Sopra is perfect, you will very soon feel like a local. There are plenty of great places to eat but if you want to self-cater then everything you need is at your doorstep. We were met by Andrea who did so much more than expected to make our stay truly memorable. He and his gorgeous wife Giovanna met us on arrival, showed us around town pointing out eateries and shops and shared with us a bottle of wine and local bread, olives, cheese and more. He was in touch with us regularly, suggesting places to visit that we may not have discovered on our own. We expressed interest in (email hidden) class and he organised an evening in his own home with chef Sandro, when my husband and I were able to have a go at making pasta, pesto and some other wonderful dishes. To top it all off Andrea offered to take us on a bike tour of Florence - his home town - which he knew better than any tour guide. We got to see the back streets as well as many of the famous tourist attractions. He organised bikes for us and then took us on the train into Florence and we explored for 4 hours - a truly exhilerating experience, dodging tourists, Vespas, buses and taxis. We can not thank him enough for the way we were looked after. We really did not want to leave this beautiful, historic little town so don't visit for less than a week or you will be sorry. If we ever return to Italy we would love to stay here again. Of course the location is great for exploring the beautiful Chianti region, close enough to Florence, Siena etc. but you will need a car. A genuine 5 star experience!

  • Castelfranco di Sopra is a super charming village just up the hill from easy freeway access to all the desirable Tuscan towns. The apartment is great with really nice features such as a balcony that provides a view of the Chianti hills and a second outdoor space that has a dining set, umbrella, and patio chairs. The bedrooms are very spacious and the whole house is comfortable and provides everything you need for a nice stay. There are shops for grocery, bread, pastries, and other essentials just steps away from the front door. The people in the village are really nice and helpful too. Overall, this was more than we expected and we would recommend Majla's place to anyone who wants an authentic experience in the region.

My children are the 6th generation in this medieval villa, and when our budget doesn't allow us to travel, we like a little bit of the world to come to us. My grandfather - a personal hero of mine - hid and saved many lives (often complete strangers, and foreigners), from the fury of the Fascists and Nazis during WW2, in the many nooks and crannies of this old home; and this has created in his heirs a tradition of opening this home to strangers. I am more hospitable than impeccable... One of my favourite quotes is: "if you don't believe in connections, you miss them". I recently wrote a book about happiness. My husband Marco is a retired professional yachtsman, and now a talented and passionate cook.
