Laura's house is very conveniently located and most of the popular places in Austin is within 15 minutes of driving. The house itself was exactly as shown, very clean and tidy, and stocked with ample bedsheets and towels for my group of 7 people.
I would highly recommend Laura's place!
Got our confirmation a few days before arrival all really straightforward. Quiet residential area, great location for South Congress with a car. Lots of useful info left out for us and coffee too, much appreciated! Great stay, would definitely reccommend.
The house was perfect for our family of 5. It is not too small for that many . We were able to move around easily. It was also in a good location. Perhaps, the host might consider adding a dinner table which accommodates 6 people rather than 4 people. She had enough chairs but the table is too small to really accommodate 6 people comfortably.
Positives: The decor very nice. The duplex is an older place but has been updated (for the most part). Instructions to get into the property were clear. When I had problems with the code Laura responded right away. Location very good. Air conditioning works great. Ceiling fans throughout.
Negatives: California has a drought but Texas is short on toilet paper. There were four of us women and half a roll plus one roll provided. Texted Laura the next day and relative (lies next door) brought two rolls. Ran out and asked for more but she didn't respond. Her instructions on refrig. states guests may have to procure paper goods. No soap or other toiletries provided. So bring your own. We didn't use stove but it was a little dirty. Living room furniture not very comfortable. One bedroom did not have flooring (probably in the process of renovating). More rugs for this room should have been provided. If you want to wash clothes it costs $10. On a scale of 1-10 (10 being the best) I rate this an 8.
We clearly state that you should buy toilet paper if you need more. Receiving numerous texts about toilet paper seemed excessive when they were instructed to pick some up. There was soap under the sink. Maybe Marina can stay at the Four Seasons on her next visit to Austin. We are redoing floors in bedrooms, but have been too booked almost ever day. We have a cute quaint old Austin home, really close to everything downtown. We promise nothing more.
Not too much to say other than our stay was awesome. Laura was always available if we were in need of anything ( which we weren't, was perfect). I definitely recommend Laura's pad as a get away.
We had such a great time staying at this listing! It was very close to downtown, which made Uber rides really easy. Laura was in contact with us when we needed her to be and ensured that we got to the place and checked in okay. The condo was a little smaller than we expected, and it did get a little difficult only sharing one bathroom, but otherwise the place was great.
I, and two friends, stayed at Laura's duplex. Upon entry, I noticed how pleasing the furniture was placed making for a cozy -but, slightly small- living space. The kitchen was newly remodeled. I hope the next home improvement will be painting the main living space walls as they were not clean and sparkly like the newly refurbished kitchen. Also, the front door needs to be replaced as there is a space that you can see through between the door and door jamb; though, they are easy repairs to complement the beauty of the living space. My only concern is Laura's quickness to assume water damage to her accommodation is my fault. This has caused much grief to me and my two friends staying in Laura's duplex. Hopefully, your experience will be a pleasurable one!
About the Host, Laura
I am from Austin, TX I work in high tech. Local gal, knows all of the good spots to go to! Bought this duplex in 2007 and lovingly remodeled it, plan to retire there when I move back in town. Until then, enjoy owning something a part of Austin that is so beautiful, and close to SOCO, Zilker and Barton Springs.
