James was responsive, welcoming and informative - a great host. The listing was pretty accurate though I did imagine there were doors between rooms, which there were not. Just a long hallway between living room and kitchen/bedroom (which were basically one room). Still, for 2 people wanting separate rooms, it did give us a fair amount of privacy.
James was very flexible and accommodating. We checked in way past dinner time (he had left the keys by the door) but he still managed to pop by to check on us and left us with good recommendations around town. Due to unforeseen circumstances, we had to extend another night at the very last minute. James was happy to accommodate our changes with a minimal fee. Facilities are complete and in working condition. I would recommend couples or small family to stay as it is a studio sort with futon and air mattress available upon request. The house was clean and neat, and located within walking distances from bus stops and Hilldale shopping area.
Three of us stayed at Hillcrest Hideaway for a girls weekend in July. It was very comfortable and in a quiet neighborhood. We would definitely stay again. About a $10.00 green cab ride to downtown.
James was flexible with our arrival and departure times, met us with a key and showed us the apartment as we arrived. The apartment was located in a beautiful neighborhood, close to shopping and dining, and great for walks! The apartment met our needs and James was very accommodating, even when I accidentally locked the key inside!
The host was very welcoming, and met us on arrival. He showed us around the apartment and how things should work. We also had excellent communication with him leading up to our stay in Madison. The apartment is situated under the main house and has it's own private entrance and outdoor area. The neighborhood is lovely, with established homes with beautiful gardens. The suburb is close to everything, including for groceries, and is situated close to main roads that get you in, around and out of town quickly. The listing is generally accurate, but the photos were not recent as there were slight difference in furnishings. This apartment does not have a seperate bedroom and is configured more like a studio, with combined kitchen, dining and sleeping. There is a lounge area at the entrance, but the whole space is open plan, including the bathroom.
We were in Madison to await the birth of our second granddaughter. The place was perfect it was located near my son and near to groceries, coffee, and anything else we needed. James welcomed us and we really did nto need anything else, the place was well equipped. We stayed for a week and felt vey confortable. Will definitely use it when we visit my son and daughter in law again.
Had a great 2 days in Madison. The apartment is exactly as described. A bit father away from downtown but was able to walk up to the Hilldale Shopping center (10 min) to grab the b-cycles. The unit has concrete floors, a bit cold for the first night since the heat was not on and it took a while to heat up. The bathroom is a bit small (sink was tiny) and the water drainage from the shower doesn't flow very well (tends to gather). Overall, good for a weekend getaway
