Enjoy the self contained guest suite on the lower floor of our character-filled older style family home in West Hobart. A quiet neighbourhood, handy to the city, 5 minutes walk from restaurants, shops and buses. Comfortable, stylish and relaxing.
Here you will have your own rooms with your own access, in basically a self contained guest suite on the lower floor of our character older style family home in West Hobart. We are in a quiet neighbourhood, only walking distance to the centre of the city and shops, and well served by local buses. We are just up the road (5 min walk) from the fabulous North Hobart restaurant strip, and a 5 min walk from the excellent Hill St Grocer. The rooms are comfortable - a spacious bedroom with well-equipped mini kitchenette (note - no oven or cooktop), your own living room with home cinema, and your own bathroom (note - shower only). You will have your own external access, and parking is always easy on the street outside. Easy access for cycle tourers too, with ample room for parking, unpacking/packing your bike around the back.
Towels and linens are included. The bed is quite firm. A range of tea and coffee options are provided for you, and the fridge is stocked for your first breakfast (or snacks on arrival). A handy written guide covers the rooms, local restaurants, services and nearby tourist attractions. And we are happy to offer tips on sightseeing and restaurants. Ours is a low-toxin household - we take care with chemicals used for cleaning, laundry etc. There is an under-cover drying area if you need to catch up on your washing.
Hobart is a terrific place to visit, with easily accessible history (such as Battery Point, Louisa's Walk, Port Arthur), crafts (Salamanca Market, Richmond), arts (Museum of Old and New Art, Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery), music festivals (MOFO and Cygnet Folk Festival in January each year), wonderful local produce (farmers' markets), wines (Coal River Valley, Huon Valley), wildlife (Bonorong wildlife park) and wilderness (Mt Wellington, Mt Field National Park).
You are welcome to enjoy our large garden - relax in the native grassland area or inspect our healthy vegie gardens. Our home offers ideas on how to move towards a sustainable lifestyle in an urban environment.
Guests have the run of the downstairs of our house, and enjoy their own back door access.
Interaction with Guests
We assume that our guests are having a private holiday, but are happy to take our cue on interaction from our visitors. We are usually at home while we have guests staying.
No smoking, inside or outside. Quiet habits are appreciated, remember you are sharing the house with others. Reasonable use of the internet please e.g. no huge downloads or uploads.
Di was welcoming, friendly, and helpful, and made us feel at ease. The accommodations were as described, with restaurants and shops nearby, and downtown an easy 10 minute drive.
Di's place was great, very easy location to find and close to everything. Great room and very private. would recommend
Great place to stay in a convenient location. Plenty of space inside and a great base from which to explore the rest of Hobart's surrounds. Highly recommended!
Di is such a great host; the perfect blend of being a good communicator when you need her and also really respectful of our space and privacy. We loved our experience staying here, Hobart is the best. A nice little walk to get into the city which was great because all we did was eat lovely Tasmanian food. We were there for the Mona Foma Festival, Mona museum is a must see
We loved a lot our stay in Di's lovely house. It's in a great location, clase to Elisabeth street. Her house was very quiet, clean and with good wifi connection. Bed was comfortable. There was a lot of information about Tasmania and Di also helped us a lot. Highly recommended!
Generous yet cosy. Di and Robert's 100+ year old home with its fruit and veg garden, home cinema and the self contained guest wing was more than what I required for my 2 nights stay. I hired a bike from the wharf and cycled to MONA and had some superb food from local restaurants in North hobart. Thanks for the lovely stay and reccomendations and best wishes for the new year!
Hi there! I'm an active gardener and bushwalker, and I love riding my electric bike, reading, movies, locally grown food and wine, genealogy (when I can make time for it!) and of course travel. As an AirBnB host, it's great being able to help fellow travellers to enjoy my home town. I'm also involved with some local groups working to develop local solutions to the challenges facing our planet. For example, lobbying to get more bike pathways built so that all of us can safely ride our bikes.
