Original terraced cottage located in the mining town of Loanhead. Located just outside the city bypass within the greenbelt. 2 miles from the Pentland hills, 2 miles from the famous Roslin Chapel & 30 mins to the thrilling Glentress bike trails.

The Space

A recently decorated double bedroom within a traditional stone terraced cottage, situated at the top end of Loanhead village, just outside of The City of Edinburgh. This is the perfect location for hill walkers, outdoor enthusiasts or people who simply prefer to stay somewhere a little more quiet and relaxed, but with the added benefit of being just a stones throw away from the city.

A buffet style breakfast is provided on the kitchen trolly of cereal, bread, jam, butter, eggs, tea, coffee, milk and orange juice.

Use of internet (WiFi), linen and towels are all included in the price. The property also has double garage, that can be used for the storage of bicycles and outdoor equipment. A private carport parking at rear of property is available for visitors use. The kitchen includes patio doors leading to a private garden with decking and outdoor furniture.

The bathroom and kitchen are shared spaces.

Loanhead; part of Midlothian county, is situated approximately 5 miles from the city centre and is served by a 24 hour bus service. Edinburgh boasts stunning gothic architecture with panoramic views and traditional cobbled streets. There are myriad of museums and galleries to provide some culture and wide selection of bars, cafés and restaurants to refuel the weary traveller. Not to mention the spectacular Edinburgh Castle, built in the 12th century and situated in the heart of the city centre.

Loanhead offers all the conveniences of modern life set in beautiful countryside surroundings. A couple of miles walk, or cycle and you’re out in the country where you can enjoy the space and tranquility that Scotland is famous for.

Edinburgh is obviously a popular day trip but there are also lots of activities closer to home in and around Loanhead:

Experience the stunning carvings and mystery of the unique Rosslyn Chapel 30 minutes walk from the house. Made world famous by Dan Brown's "Da Vinci Code". Practically every surface of the Chapel is covered with intrigue carvings of figures and scenes.

  • Katy and Craig were wonderful, interesting, charming and helpful hosts. The location was perfect for hopping a bus to Edinburgh city center so we didn't have to fool with our car. The area is lovely and we especially loved our hike to Rosslyn Chapel along the old railway path.

  • Katy is a very friendly person and a perfect welcoming host. I had been at her house for two nights with my wife and 3.5 years daughter. House was very clean and tidy. She was very flexible with the timings. She had made very good arrangements for our stay, clean bathroom, important notes of easy accessibility of nearby areas, good wifi connectivity and good breakfast. The room had beautiful interiors.
This was my first B&B experience and it turned out to be fabulous.
    Many thanks to Katy.
I would definitely recommend stay at Katy's home.

  • We had a wonderful experience staying with Katy in Edinburgh for Hogmanay. She was very helpful and quick to respond throughout the booking process, and made sure everything was in order for us when we arrived, even providing us with an extra number of someone we could contact, as she was away herself at the time. We had originally booked for two people, but when my friend's accommodation fell through at the last minute Katy kindly offered us the living room for her to stay in. Her cottage is lovely and has a very warm and cosy feel, and was a lot more spacious than expected. It's in a great location between the city and the Pentlands, so we enjoyed both during our stay! Katy and Craig made us feel right at home and we enjoyed spending time with them in the evening. It's wonderful to meet people who are so willing to open their home to others. We hope to come back and stay when we're next in Edinburgh!
