Two magical days spent in the yurt - owls and cockoos, deep wooded valleys, cold dips in the stream and a blazing log burner. Everything was very welcoming when we arrived in the dead of night and the whole valley was alive with bird song in the morning. Highly recommended!
We found the experience to be a sensual, blissful, charming escape. Christa's yurt should be high on your priority if you are looking for a unique experience with nature. It is really an experience you wont forget. Highlights were jumping into the river after using the log-burning sauna. We went as a group of friends (4) and we had the best time, despite the rain. (Yurting is the only time where you can embrace the rain!) Although it is also very romantic. Highly recommend (and so cheap!). Christa is a lovely host and super helpful, thank you so much for the experience!
We had a a relaxing and beautiful stay at Christa's fabulous yurt. Everything was clean and ready when we arrived, and Christa was very welcoming. We had BBQs on both days and used the caravan kitchen for any additional food prep. The wood burning fire kept us warm all night, we used a few blankets but were never cold, and it was a very windy weekend. The shower wasn't great, but for 2 days stay it was fine. We must recommend using the sauna and a brave jump in the river; also a trip to 'Exquisitely Delicious Desserts in Llandielo, they really were. And such a treat to lie out under the stars with no light pollution, we felt totally away from it all, with Christa close enough if we needed her. We will definitely be coming back for another visit, romantic and fun all in one. Recommend entering local town name into the sat-nav and following directions given by Christa. Hannah (and Greg) x
The yurt is sweet and well made and there were two mini complimentary bottles of wine on arrival. However, the accommodation had been advertised for 6 people and I feel it is only suitable for a couple. My brother and sister in law and niece were planning to stay along with me and my two children. In the end I am very grateful that they didn’t come: we had been told by Christa that the caravan was big enough for a travel cot but there was no way to fit this in as there was only about a foot and a half corridor space down the middle of the caravan. The water only came out of the shower if you held it down really low so we had to squat down in the shower cubicle and the hot water only lasted for 5 minutes. There also wasn’t enough cutlery for 6 people. There was no water supply to the yurt but Christa had provided some drinking water in an old cider decanter. We had been drinking this until the last night when I poured out what looked like a large piece of algae. I told Christa as we were leaving and left it for her to see. She said that it was a moth’s wing. My son had been sick the last night we were there, I don’t think it was because of the water but a decomposing moth’s wing in the water supply might not have helped! Another frustration was Christa not keeping her word about refunds for cancellations. I had to cancel our last day’s stay there and had rung 6 days in advance to inform Christa and to confirm getting a full refund as it was within the 5 days cancellation policy. She said I could either have a full refund or come another time. I asked if she needed me to email Airbnb and she said ‘no’, as she didn’t think she would get anyone else booked in within that time scale. In retrospect, this was a mistake and I should have emailed Airbnb to put it in writing but I’d taken her at her word. However, on arrival Christa said that she had decided to only refund me half the money. I said that this wasn’t what we had agreed. She said that she hadn’t been able to cancel my booking on the website so she felt it was fair that she refunded me half. I had felt quite upset about this as it wasn’t what we had arranged. If I’d known there was a problem I would have emailed Airbnb beforehand and could have easily done this if Christa had contacted me to say there was a problem. It is important as customers, (particularly first-time customers on Airbnb), to be able to trust the integrity of hosts and I am disappointed to have been let down both in misleading answers to queries before my stay and in the failure to honour a clear cancellation...
All I can say is that nothing had been arranged regarding the refund & I'm sure a moth's wing could arrive in many a glass of water if one chooses to camp.
I hope you'll remember the beauty of the surroundings & your son's rich laughter rather than the negative feelings.
A delightful little hidden gem! The Yurt is perfect for children who found the whole experience enchanting.
My mother, my partner and I had a great time at Christa's yurt. It was our first time in this kind of accommodation and it could not have been more welcoming. We had a beautiful time in the Brecon Beacons National Park and Christa and her place are part of it. Thanks for the lovely wine you left us. We had it while we were warming ourselves up around the stove.
We are a family of 5 with children aged 6 to 16 who found this a truly wonderful break.
Both the location & hosts were top class!
Hosts were ready to help if you needed assistance, but not intrusive.
We absolutely loved the Yurt experience and were amazed how warm and toastie we remained throughout our stay.
The bedding and linen were all very clean & comfy including an electric blanket!
The interior design of the yurt & furnishings created a wonderful ambience.
The separate caravan was definitely an added bonus with it's fully equipped kitchen & we managed a few great meals together.
The wood burning sauna down by the stream was amazing and we all felt so alive after a sauna session & dip in the stream afterwards.
We loved just chilling in the hammock & hearing lots of different birds.
A great magical place we'd love to return to in the
