A gem in the heart of Chiang Mai's old town. A well-proportioned living space that immediately feels like home. Air-conditioned double room. Separate living room with space for 2-3 people to read and relax. Separate kitchen space with open views of the mountain overlooking old town. Lots of natural light and a vintage desk by the window for writing / work. Clean, stylish & comfortable... with a humble cuteness to fit.
Top value for the location, and all-round quality and privacy of accommodation. This place happily serves any and all wanting to sink into the chilled, nourishing energy of Chaing Mai.
The apartment is our previous home and now acts as an office work space and recording studio when guests are not present. We keep it maintained as a 'home' and invite guests who will love and respect it similarly. Its perfectly set for any individual or couple looking for a complete and comfortable stay with a 'homely' feel.
The double bedroom has air conditioning, a make-up desk, wardrobe, and dirty clothes basket, along with nice lighting. The living room is end-of-terrace, which means lots of extra window light providing an open and spacious feel. There is a wonderful old 'Singer' desk in front of a window which makes for an ideal work space - especially for writers, creatives and the like (I genuinely LOVE doing work from this space!). As a semi-final touch, our new and loved yellow sofa really gives an uplifting and cosy feel to this flexible space.
The shower room is small and clean. The shower itself is nice - no trickling water! The kitchen is super cute. it has custom-made shelving and storage areas, a hot plate cooker, kettle, teak chopping board, drainer, basic utensils, blender and clothes drying area - all built specifically to fit into the space perfectly.
Guests will be based in Chiang Mai's old town (within the moat) and its huge amount of cafes, restaurants and shared work spaces. The apartment is behind the largest and most-known Temple in Chiang Mai (Wat Prah Sing). Each Sunday there is a Walking Street market which is a big event. While others will ride bike and take tuk-tuks from all over town, guest in this apartment have the luxury of a 5 minute walk to the market (through the Temple gardens! - very cool).
It is also the closer side to attractive areas such as Nimman, and has the main hospital only a 2 minutes drive away, along with the 3 main shopping malls all in very close proximity - 'Maya' being a personal fav!
In summary, there is a very good chance you will love this little space and have a truly enjoyable stay :)
Guest have exclusive access to this 1 bed apartment, with all of its amenities. On top of this, the building has its own washing machine facilities, plentiful parking space, and outside seating / smoking area and generally well-maintained communal spaces. You also have access to drinking water at a very low price.
All together, the apartment and the block means guests can save a lot of money through not having to pay for water from shops, washing services, and cafes for the early-morning caffeine fix! (that last one can especially add up quickly!)
Interaction with guests
We are available to help guests to a reasonable degree. We try to meet guests face-to-face as we love to meet the people visiting Chiang Mai, and you will have a mobile number to contact us for any general questions (prefer not to receive calls after outside 9-5pm unless emergency). We do not provide collection services or anything like that. Guest are self-reliant. The apartment itself, is the real value of this listing.
Other things to note
This was our family home and remains a little pad for our visiting family, please treat it as a home with love, taking care throughout and leaving it in a nice condition :)
This building block has long-term residents, so late-night loud music / partying is not appropriate (again, its so central, you can get to bars easily).
The apartment overlooks a road and the traffic can be loud during the day time. While it doesn't ruin the many charms and appeals of this place, its not always ideal and should be shared upfront. When the windows are closed it is not bad and at night time, when in the bedroom with the door closed - its no problem whatsoever (the bedroom is dark and very quiet for a good nights sleep!).
The four wooden chairs with the Singer desk are not the strongest, so please don't stand on them or rock backwards and forwards, especially if you venture above the 11 stone mark.
TIP!: hang the door keys and padlock on the hooks inside the front door every time you enter. This way you dont loose them or forget to take them on your way out!
Also not entirely ideal for younger children because of the busy road and potential to disturb neighbours with crying. Please let us know in advance if you would plan to come with children between 3-8.
