The ceilings are 10 feet high. The condo is arranged in linear room sequence. (Front patio/sitting Area, followed by living room, followed by kitchen, followed by bathroom, followed by bedroom with washer-dryer area in a walk-in closet.)

Guest access
Guests can come and go anytime, since there is a push button lock on the entrance door. The code will be texted to you before you arrive on the day of your arrival. (The code is changed regularly.) Since this is a full-time AirBnB unit, guests will have access to all of the unit - unless a cabinet is locked for some reason.

Guests staying at this unit, are 1+ blocks from the Jefferson Street restaurant area, with six unique, local restaurants located in the block of Jefferson between Short and Second, a block from this Little Loft. Plus many more within a 10-15 minute walk. Also, Lexington Center - with its Heritage Hall and Rupp Arena - is located within that short walk. The Mary Todd Lincoln house-museum is in the same area. Close by are art galleries, and antique shops. The Little Loft is 15 minutes (6 miles) from the Keeneland Racetrack, 16 minutes (8 miles) to the Kentucky Horse Park, and 1.5 miles to the University of Kentucky.

Other things to note
As can be seen from the picture of the outside of the complex, each unit has its own outside entrance. Using the elevator (located in the far corner of the complex) as a reference point, unit 106 is located in the part of the complex that is to the left of the elevator as you are facing it. Parking is on the ground-level (level P). The next level (level 1) is your level. Exit the elevator, turn to the right, and your unit is about 3 units away.

The front patio for 106 is the largest one. (The concrete in front curves way out at its maximum in front of the unit.) Parking is anywhere you can find a space - under the covered parking, or out in the marked parking areas in the driveway.

There is a hair dryer in the bathroom, and drip coffee in the kitchen, English muffins, cream and sweeteners in the cupboard. The futon in the bedroom folds out into a not-all-that-great bed. But if someone is really tired or doesn't weigh a lot, then ...

Neighborhood highlights

We love our neighborhood because we and the other residents recreated it from the ashes, so to speak. This neighborhood is known as the Historic Western Suburb. It dates back to the early 1800's, and is one of the oldest neighborhoods in Lexington. Some houses are known to date back to 1806; and one goes back to the 1790's. It is a very eclectic area with buildings that are over 200-years old, next to ones that were built in the 20th and 21st centuries. There are many different economic levels, and ethnicities, with a good mix of renters and owner-occupiers.

By the 1970's this area was literally crumbling away, helped by the presence of all of the city's garbage trucks being parked here. Then various Lexingtonians came in, bought houses to renovate or to sell them to those that would. The garbage trucks were moved, and the neighborhood association hired an architect and builder to build new houses on the old garbage truck lot. Later the neighborhood worked with a developer to create the ARTEK condominium complex on Old Georgetown Street (Yes, where you are now staying.) More condos were created in the area, and many restaurants followed. So we have gone from a perceived undesirable area (2006) to one of Lexington's most unique and desirable urban neighborhoods (2013). Who'd ever of thought!

My work: Constantly
I spend too much time: Rabbit-holing the Internet.
My late wife and I are from Dayton and Cincinnati, respectively. We came to Lexington over 50-years ago by way of Louisville. I worked in the computer industry, and she taught school. My hobby is trying to keep it aIl together. I have a never-ending list of want-to-do's and have-to-do's. I will not be an obtrusive host; but I will try to be responsive to your needs and suggestions. I want you to enjoy your stay, and to want to return.
