This home is perfect! It was clean and well stocked. Had everything that we needed including three bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms, comfy beds, washer/dryer, gas grill, fully stocked kitchen, beach towels and so much more. It's located in a really cute, quiet neighborhood within walking distance to downtown Clearwater which has some really great local restaurants. It felt perfectly safe and very friendly. Bruce and Melody own 6 homes in this area and this one is located directly across the street from the one they live in. Bruce was quick to respond when we had a question and very helpful in providing directions and info on the things we wanted to do. We would definitely stay here again.

All directions were very clear. House is spacious and comfortable, just as described. Bruce was a great host, being as responsive as he needed to be (we didn't need much support in the beginning, and he gave us the space to enjoy our stay; but then I needed extra help on the day we checked out, and he was extremely responsive and supportive). House is in a quiet neighborhood a short walk from downtown Clearwater and a short drive from spectacular beaches.

Charming, pretty, clean, great area. The beds are comfortable. Everything that you need is there. Just a short drive to the beach area. Lots of restaurants around. Our host had great information in a notebook for us. Our host also communicated with us quickly when we had questions. This house is comfortable for a family, but would also be nice for a couples get away. Centrally located if you need to be in Tampa, or Bradenton for business, which is why my co-workers and I were there. Has WiFi! Huge benefit since we had work to do at night. Quiet neighborhood and we felt safe.

The home is exactly as listed, it was large, clean and was well appointed. There is no guidebook posted, so we had no idea we'd be walking into Dantes Inferno. The ac was reading 85 when we entered the home. The guidebook said we could lower the the temp to 72-74, so we did.....but we quickly received a polite message on Airbnb suggesting we raise the temp or we'd be responsible for an expensive repair bill if the unit froze up. How'd the host know you ask? He has the ac controlled remotely, and would CHANGE the setting to a higher temp if he felt we had it too low...even though it was set to the range listed in the guidebook. If the fact that the ac would be so ridiculously controlled had been in the listing, we would never have booked this home. The front 2 rooms stayed close to the temp, (a twin bedroom and the living room), but the rest of the home was too hot to be comfortable. (And yes, we are VERY familiar with Florida's temps, my daughter and I stay about a month every summer for years). The neighbors, not sure if they are permanent or renters, were sketchy so we didn't feel comfortable leaving our paddleboard and kayak outside at night, so I got to hand wash them every night so they would be able to be brought inside. The closest Publix has an armed security guard and homeless people are all over the area. Again, not what we were expecting from the description. We will not be staying with the hosts again.

Response from Bruce:
It is very disappointing to have a guest that is not happy. We truly try to make the home a place our guest will enjoy. We live in the same area (across the street) and are always commenting to each other that we are so blessed…we live in paradise. We had problems with this guest before she even checked in. She originally made a reservation for one guest total, but in subsequent messages it was obvious she had a bigger group. When I asked for confirmation, she indicated 4 guests total. I submitted a change request to her reservation, as there is an extra charge for each guest after two. She refused to pay and contacted Airbnb customer support, who contacted me and asked to use a different method to collect rent for the additional guests. To appease her, I offered a discounted rate, and Airbnb did not collect taxes or their service fee for the additional amount. From our experience, if someone comes in at the start with a bad attitude, it’s hard to see it change. Outside temps were close to 95 when she arrived, and the home a/c temp was set to 78. Our guidelines specified 74 during the day, and 72 at night. If you are going out for the day, we request setting it to 78. It doesn’t help our carbon footprint, the strain on the electrical grid, or the utility costs to run the a/c units aggressively if the home is not occupied. Their first night I received electronic notification that the temp was set to 65, so I set it back to 72 (remotely) and sent a polite reminder stating the guidelines. Her first response was “We would appreciate you washing your hands before you come in since we have severe food allergies and have already sanitized everything....i would appreciate not having to do that daily.” I explained that no one had entered the premises, but she didn’t seem to accept that explanation. As for the comments regarding the neighbors, it appears to me that our guest was unhappy and looking for things to complain about. We’ve stored our kayaks in our backyard for years with no problem. Clearwater is known for its “coastal urban” environment, and that’s what we appreciate about our area. It’s a safe area with easy access to local attractions, services, restaurants and shopping, and we embrace the different cultures that reside here.

The house was as advertised. Clean, cozy, clean linens, and Bruce had great recommendations for the neighborhood. It was very close to Clearwater Beach and not too far from other attractions.

About Bruce

Melody and I have been here in Clearwater since 2003. We own a software company specializing in digital dictation and transcription solutions. Our "hobby" has been renovating old homes here in the Magnolia Park neighborhood of Clearwater. We have 6 vacation rental properties that we manage ourselves.

One of our daughters and her family live 2 doors down from us, with 3 grandchildren that keep us hopping. We love the location - close to downtown Clearwater, yet just a short ride to the beautiful beaches of Clearwater, Indian Rocks and Dunedin (Caladesi Island and Honeymoon Island).

We love to bicycle, boat, swim, and enjoy fun times with our family and friends! We hope you can make it to our special part of the Gulf Coast that we call home...
