Located in the hills above of Santa Barbara between the city and the sea, this authentic adobe was built in the mid 1950's by master Adobero, Senor Aguilar. With panoramic views of the city and mountains and a peek of harbor, this welcoming home will provide you with the quintessential Santa Barbara vacation! You enter the property through old Mesquite Gates and descend to the private courtyard, complete with fountain, citrus trees and barbecue. This is a perfect spot for morning coffee, afternoon naps or a casual dinner. The main house has two bedrooms, each with a queen bed and private bath. The kitchen is beautifully appointed with a Viking range and professional appliances for any discriminating cook. On the view side of the property you will find a terrace and "sit in" stone fire pit with stunning vistas of the city and mountains. The property also has a guest cottage that can accommodate two more persons. It contains an extra long twin trundle, private bath, and secluded terrace with mountain and city views. (Please note that the guest cottage is only available with stays of 30 days or longer.) The home is less than a 7 min drive to the beach or downtown and has three flat screen TV's with satellite HD TV service, internet access, central heat and off street parking.

This is a wonderful house to call home while in Santa Barbara. Everything is just so making it extremely comfortable with anything imaginable in place and at your disposal, especially if you are a cook. Additionally, the pictures barely capture the stunning views and decor. It is on my list to return to and would be perfect with up to 3 couples, or to rent for a small gathering with its interior courtyard and back deck. Very close to the beach (5 minutes), downtown (less than 10 minutes), and Montecito (under 14 minutes).
Our stay in this heavenly hillside adobe was everything we hoped for and more. It's actually more beautiful than the pictures. From the lovely bougainvillea-draped entry gate you enter into a sun-drenched courtyard with gurgling fountain. The house is beautifully furnished--luxe, but livable--with complete attention to detail. Sweeping, panoramic views of the city framed by the mountains can be enjoyed from the house and from the expansive terrace off the great room and master suite. We previously stayed at El Encanto when we came to Santa Barbara—this place is even better. We can’t wait to return. If you are California dreamin'-- this Santa Barbara Adobe will make your dreams come true. Thank you, Mark, for sharing your lovely home and for being such a gracious and attentive host!
This house was absolutely perfect. If you are coming to Santa Barbara, look no further, I don't think you could do better! Beautiful and well-appointed home with amazing outdoor space and a well stocked kitchen. This home is private, luxurious, and relaxing while still close to everything in town. Mark was very accommodating.
The house is great. Mark was a terrific host. We will go back. Highly recommended!
Mark provided an exceptional experience at his stunning Hilltop Adobe. The home and ambiance rivaled those we've experienced at fine resorts the world over. We were greeted by a delicious welcome basket, enjoyed a private courtyard and deck with sweeping views of Santa Barbara and gorgeous bedrooms and baths that were all perfectly appointed. Mark went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable and well cared for and was an exceptional host. We had a wonderful time and hope to be back soon!
From the moment we arrived, Mark was the consummate host. He was exceptionally helpful and generous. The adobe is a magical, romantic hideaway with all the amenities you could ask for. The courtyard was our favorite spot to relax with a glass of wine and a book. Then, of course, there is Santa Barbara. So many wonderful things to do from beaches to hiking and wine country. Stay with Mark and you will feel like family. We would definitely return. Marc and Deirdre
I can't say enough positive about our experience at Hilltop Adobe. The house is beautiful, event better than the pictures, if you can imagine that. The kitchen had everything you could ever imagine needing so if you plan to cook at home, you'll want for nothing! We had breakfast and dinners on the terrace with a beautiful view of the City and the Valley. We enjoyed time in the courtyard, talking and reading and enjoying the perfect Santa Barbara weather. The Sonos sound system was state of the art and we enjoyed music in the courtyard or anywhere in the house. As the name says, you are on a hilltop with the last part of the drive on a narrow windy road. However, we didn't have a problem and as Mark says, it is a short drive to the beach and about 15 minutes into downtown Santa Barbara. Mark stopped by the house the morning we arrived to make sure we had everything we needed and called before we left to see how we enjoyed our stay. He was accessible if we had any questions. On our next trip to Santa Barbara, we plan to stay there again!
